Last gen of woled and a different pixel layout will hopefully be good enough for work. I really dont want to get a new IPS screen at this day and age.
@1UpNerdcore not for scaling, because 4k is too small for me (especially for my eyesight), so, at least on Mac, scaling it down to a smaller resolution is a mess. There are fixes, but nothing is perfect. That's why I would like to stay with true 1440p The thing is, I never had such monitors, so I can not know for sure, and I also don't have the option to check in person. Even shops here don't show such monitors on display. So, a lot of research went into hundreds of videos/articles about it. This is currently where I'm at with those two. I don't want an ips as it is way too bright for me. Even my current old ips is constantly at 5% brightness and 15% contrast. Otherwise, I get big eye strain, or it just burns my eyes.

@@1UpNerdcoreI get banding on DVI, HDMI, SDR and HDR, but only on youtube, on all codecs. Gaming is great but, man is banding bad BESIDES the actual video.
Are you getting dsc connectivity issues? Black screens that stay 5t7 seconds while tabbing in and out of games? What connection are you using dp or hdmi?
@1UpNerdcore Man that sucks! The aqdmg was quick but terrible text. Ucdm was instant but terrible flickering. These oleds at that price and bugs might make me revert back to the old reliable ips
@@1UpNerdcore the reason for this is because most gpus right now dont support display port 2.1. only like 2 current amd Radeon gpus do apparently and the upcoming 50 series nvidia gpus are supposed to support it. When you get high resolution at high refresh rates that's when DSC (display compression) kicks in and that's why you have the delay.
Question so i have a 7800x3d and a rtx 4080 super. Would i be able utilize the full 480 hz on this display or would it be better to save money and go with msi mag/mpg qd oled 360hz?
Keep in mind that the refresh rate is variable even if you cannot sustain 480 consistently you can benefit from the motion clarity improvement across the refresh rate range which exceeds 360Hz plus you have BFI allowing for superior motion clarity options as noted int he video at 120Hz/240Hz. Best of luck with whatever you settle on.
You have a better cpu then me (7700x is mine) so I say go with this as the OLED care features and other features on top of the higher variable refresh rate ceiling will serve you in the long run.
I was using an lg c1 oled 48 inch 4k gaming tv as a monitor but I am getting a refund from the extended warranty since it got burn in. Do you think going to 27 inch 1440p would feel like a huge downgrade over 4k on a larger screen? Hoping being a smaller screen it would still look pretty good since smaller screen. 48 inch was too big but was the smallest available for oled in 2021.
Wait what is this? You actually review and go through the monitor? How about just 4 min video where you read the specs out loud and say it's 480Hz and it's "buttery smooth but quite expensive".
Not my intention with the channel. I get there’s a place for those videos but this is for people like me and it sounds like you that want all the details about what the monitor does. I like monitors unboxed but those tests are so in depth they tend to miss the basics which is what I cover. The people that would buy this type of monitor rarely keep a monitor for 10 years so burn in potential is low with OLED care features and heatsinks that are here. Future proof here would mean more of a 5-6 year mark instead of upgrading every year like a lot of people who would buy this type of high end monitor do. That doesn’t apply to all people who would buy this just more of them in general.
@@1UpNerdcore Ironically, if it could last 10 years it would make me one of "the people" who would buy it. I am not impressed by this review. This monitor is exclusively for online shooter games. For strategies and RPGs, 480Hz is not needed. There is no comparison with TN 500+Hz monitors, no normal selection of games and analysis of gaming comfort. In general. So, it is beautiful, but useless
I’m gonna bet you didn’t watch the full review. What’s considered a “normal” selection of games? I haven’t used the TN 500+hz monitors so I can’t compare this to something I haven’t personally used.
The monitors offers a range of value across games not just FPS titles/eSports titles. Regardless of game you get OLED contrast, outstanding HDR, motion clarity and pixel response that is superior to ultra high refresh rate LCDs. With this noted you are correct that the highest value will be for those playing competitive FPS centric titles where motion clarity is paramount. Keep in mind that the pixel response consistency ensures that even if only getting 120, 165, 240 or 360Hz you will have a great experience. Most gamers do not have a fixed non varied FPS the VRR range ensures that those playing a range of games and at various settings can get outstanding motion clarity. As a MFG of the best 540Hz display don't he market we would say the experience here is generally superior OLED has better contrast Super pixel response ( which is consistent across the refresh rate range ) HDR gaming Sharpness ( 1440P vs 1080 ) this benefits general desktop use Overall superior motion clarity for the majority of the refresh rate range Superior color gamut/color space specifications Flexibility of aspect ratio control allowing for traditional esports centric FOV no haloing or blooming I would also not both offer comfortable viewing with AR polaziers and also supporting TÜV Flicker-free / TÜV Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution) Our ultra high refresh rate LCD options will offer the benefits below Higher SDR brightness wich may or may not be critical ULMB 2 an impressive technology offer outstanding motion clarity but does have specific limitations but can be quite impressive No burn in concerns NVIDIA Reflex latency analyzer We will continue to offer both LCD and OLED options for gamers and allow them to make their selection based on their wants/needs and budget. They will be for a mix of pc/console/mac for gaming/work. Im in IT so lots of text work. Last gen of woled and a different pixel layout will hopefully be good enough for work. I really dont want to get a new IPS screen at this day and age.
I would go with the larger 32 as it’s 4k so text clarity will be much better for IT work.
@1UpNerdcore not for scaling, because 4k is too small for me (especially for my eyesight), so, at least on Mac, scaling it down to a smaller resolution is a mess. There are fixes, but nothing is perfect. That's why I would like to stay with true 1440p
The thing is, I never had such monitors, so I can not know for sure, and I also don't have the option to check in person.
Brother, where to find this beautiful wallpaper? I want this exact one please!
I use the wallpaper engine app off of steam. Search for skull and it’ll pop up
@@1UpNerdcore search skull for wallpaper with hills ?
i wanted to know about the wallpaper with hills brother.
I received mine today. I have colour banding when I watch youtube videos in sdr and hdr, via hdmi and dvi, not IN the video but besides it running dark mode. Have you encountered any similar issues.
How are you running DVI?
@@1UpNerdcoreI get banding on DVI, HDMI, SDR and HDR, but only on youtube, on all codecs. Gaming is great but, man is banding bad BESIDES the actual video.
Are you getting dsc connectivity issues?
Black screens that stay 5t7 seconds while tabbing in and out of games?
What connection are you using dp or hdmi?
I’ve had that on almost every monitor I’ve reviewed. Usually 3-5 seconds for me. I’m using DP port.
@1UpNerdcore
Man that sucks!
The aqdmg was quick but terrible text.
Ucdm was instant but terrible flickering.
These oleds at that price and bugs might make me revert back to the old reliable ips
Apparently it's only on Nvidia GPUs right?
@@1UpNerdcore the reason for this is because most gpus right now dont support display port 2.1. only like 2 current amd Radeon gpus do apparently and the upcoming 50 series nvidia gpus are supposed to support it. When you get high resolution at high refresh rates that's when DSC (display compression) kicks in and that's why you have the delay.
I preorder mine, hope you dont trash it lol
I don’t think it’ll look like a downgrade since the pixel density should be higher for the ROG.
@@1UpNerdcore that is my hope if I go this route. Gonna borrow gf's 1440p 27 inch on weekend to test it. It's not as high end but same size and res.
How is it on console?
I cover that in the video 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore what minute?
Wait what is this? You actually review and go through the monitor? How about just 4 min video where you read the specs out loud and say it's 480Hz and it's "buttery smooth but quite expensive".
Not my intention with the channel. I get there’s a place for those videos but this is for people like me and it sounds like you that want all the details about what the monitor does. I like monitors unboxed but those tests are so in depth they tend to miss the basics which is what I cover. I think of it as a buffet of information you can see what you want and you don’t have to watch the full thing.
did you experience any alt tabbing delay while using 2 screens ?
When closing out a game window I would but I’ve experienced that on almost all the monitors I’ve reviewed
@@1UpNerdcore would you say it's more like 2-3 seconds or 5+ ?
2-3 with occasional 5 at most
@@1UpNerdcore okay, idk if you watched optimum's video about this monitor but for him the delay (5+ sec.) is almost a deal breaker, idk if it is because he's playing at 480hz or something
@@JonVon_ DSC is a thing cant quite go around it without DP2.1 but you could use hdmi 2.1 for now it should have higher bandwidth than dp so should be slightly less delay
❤
just got this monitor also
i had lg32gs-ue and the 480hz mode n 1080p 31.5 inch is just a nightmare it sucks so bad
you have to keep changing settings also to tweak for 480hz
the experience with these new dual mode is just a gimmick
4k is also a gimmick for pc i think
i have a tv which is 55inch s90c qdoled and it costs even less than this 32 inch lg with even better hdr lmao
so yeah 2k480hz with a 5090 will be godlike for at least 5 years im keeping this as my main and not tweak everytime
also 31.5inch is super fucking big for a desk of 80cm deep like its crazy
pc monitors should be small and fast 2k is just perfect for 27inch 4k is not needed!!!
if you want 4k get a tv for the ultimate movie/couch gaming experience and its even cheaper than these 4k 240hz
240hz is already old tech pc needs fast refresh at least 360hz
I don't think that oled qualifies for the title of "future proof" with burn in making it a product with a shelf life.
@@1UpNerdcore
Ironically, if it could last 10 years it would make me one of "the people" who would buy it. HUB has shown burn in beginning with his monitor in under 2 years of use, RTings also shows the same making it a "consumable" product that expires with use at 5x the price of the products its trying to replace.
need a 32inch curved
it can hit alot of games for 480hz
not many games can even hit 480hz
CS2
Valorant
Overwatch 2
anyone have any more?
Doom eternal
2K
400 euro more than the xg27aqdmg 240hz model wow thats not worth it and 480hz is only for esports titel where you can even achieve the fps way too expensive then I would always prefer the 240hz model
the difference is worth it. 480hz is so smooth id pay $2000 for it
Why can I see pixels
That had to do with my camera no the monitor
For the Price it should have 4K
constantly static of no progression
Alot of stuttering in those game footage you shown.
If you notice any it’s on the games end/my gpu not the monitor
27" feels way too small now, once going 32" or higher it's impossible to go back
disagree. 32inch is horrible for me., 27inch is perfect
32” is gigantic to me.
Your GPU can reach 480fps at 1440p low settings but your 7900x CPU is a huge bottleneck you should get 7800x3d or a max overclocked 14900k + 8200mhz ddr5 with tighter timings to get 480fps most people don't know how important CPU is .
Upgrade is coming in October, fingers crossed! ROG is potentially sponsoring an upgrade video for me.
8200mhz with tight timings sounds unrealistic.
Super easy to achieve on Asus z790 Apex motherboard with 2x24gb ddr5 8200mhz kit @@silfrido1768
450 nits at 100% windows is just a lie its more like 290 1:03
You test that? If so what testing equipment did you use?
The flicker is real on this one gsynch sucks and alot of useless features.
Can you even see 480hz ? Coming from 144hz user
You would notice a difference. 144 to 240 is very noticeable. 240-480 is less noticeable but still there
I am not impressed by this review.
As a MFG of the best 540Hz display don't he market we would say the experience here is generally superior
OLED has better contrast
Super pixel response ( which is consistent across the refresh rate range )
HDR gaming
Sharpness ( 1440P vs 1080 ) this benefits general desktop use
Overall superior motion clarity for the majority of the refresh rate range
Superior color gamut/color space specifications
Flexibility of aspect ratio control allowing for traditional esports centric FOV no haloing or blooming
I would also not both offer comfortable viewing with AR polaziers and also supporting TÜV Flicker-free / TÜV Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution)
Our ultra high refresh rate LCD options will offer the benefits below
Higher SDR brightness wich may or may not be critical
ULMB 2 an impressive technology offer outstanding motion clarity but does have specific limitations but can be quite impressive
No burn in concerns
NVIDIA Reflex latency analyzer
We will continue to offer both LCD and OLED options for gamers and allow them to make their selection based on their wants/needs and budget.
Hope this helps offers some comparison and complements the comprehensive review completed by @1upnerdcore
@@ASUSPRNorthAmerica I have a 4k OLED 240Hz (not Asus - You have not with DP 2.1), a professional IPS 4k 60hz 27" monitor for photos and for PUBG and CS I have a monitor TN for FPS gaming. It is impossible to create a monitor for everything. And I am surprised that you do not position your monitors by market segments. Unfortunately, OLED technology is not free from flickering. This is especially noticeable when using VRR technology. Otherwise, this monitor is great. But the flickering issue was also not addressed in the review, which is sad, because it is a health issue.
The monitor is not only a refresh rate lol 🤦. There are so many more features to consider that make one monitor a great gaming monitor.
@@4epa1012 Yes, of course. It's an axiom, just like the earth is round.
