I 100% agree with everything you said in this video. Kudos to the great firmware overview video. I also wonder if they could find a way to recreate the anamorphic image stabilization akin to the Lumix cameras? That could be part of why they disabled the ibis when in anamorphic mode, since the image is stretched along one axis.

Bro there were so many of us complaining about it, but so many of you guys, they HAD to do something
as someone with the fx30, I was wondering if the fx3 had the live streaming capabilities! Thank you so much for including that! no one with these firmware update videos ever mentions it and its low key pretty important to me cause i love having the ability to connect my fx30 to my macbook while im traveling and instantly have a hq webcam while im on the go.

All the new features are amazing . All we need is finally here . But we still having problems with the 20mm and 35mm 2.8 version of Tamron because it doesn’t work with the auto focus

Might be worth mentioning that the fx30 2.0 break’s compatibility with catalyst browse and prepare. As soon as you select analyse the stab footage goes black and this also affects the rendered file.
They just fixed this btw
I cant stabilize with browse or prepare. It doestn turn black but the result is crap.@@ralphydez

I yesterday booked FX3 and today i heard new update I'm happy but not completely yet because of shutter angle.
I was hoping they would allow 3:2 recording in this firmware update for anamorphic lenses.
No A7siii and shutter angle is wild
No one mentions the fact that the DCI 4K setting doesn't allow you to shoot RAW with an external recorder like the Atomos Ninja.

hey the fx30 is my first camera. is there any benefit to updating firmware if i don't need to use any of the new features?

finally 1/48 shutter speed, shutter angle would be nice for those of us that switch frame rates often without them being tied to memory recall settings, baby steps at least

I think we are at the limits of What the fx3 can do. Remember it’s running two year old hardware and also doesn’t have the dedicated AI co-processor to handle the extra load. And hopeful about updates for those cameras man!
I didn’t think anyone used “clear image zoom”. You do know that it’s not what most people think it is. AFIK, C.I.Z. Isn’t cropping in on the sensor, it is just a smarter version of digital zoom which we all know is trash full stop.

You have to do the standard update method on the fx3 if you are on older firmware
still waiting for shutter angle.... not even going to bother asking for open gate... already added the Panasonic S5ii anyway. =P

Honestly I think that’s one of the features they will probably hold for the FX line. Lumix does it because they don’t really have a cinema line to offer, but with Sony there’s going to be certain things they have to reserve for their specialty cameras. That being said, I too of course hope they add that support and MORE. But just gotta think realistically.
You know what, now that I think about it, maybe they should allow LUTs on all the A7 bodies. I say this cause I realized that they have LUT import support on the freakin ZV-E1 vlogged camera, so with that in mind it needs to be in all the A7 cameras.
You were not wrong. They were abandoning their customers. They weren't communicating. Sony customers are not getting the updates. Now that the updates came out, they are doing better but you are not wrong. They are losing customers because other manufacturers treat their existing customers better with updates. I'm considering getting a Panasonic. Loyalty is given to those who earn it with good behavior. The top manufacture is always tempted to take their customers for granted.

Sony needs honest feedback both criticism and praise. It’s fair to call them out and it’s fair to be like okay okay this is gucci. No pushback means maybe these cameras wouldn’t get updates, but Sony listening to consumers is a big win.

Why? Talking about the shutter angle/speed. Sure, it's called the "cinema line" so just out of principle but how important is it, really? You should keep it @180° mos tof the time or 1/60th @30fps, 1/50th or 1/48th @24fps if you're into judder, whatever.
Be honest, how often do you fiddle with the shutter when shooting video?
Just keep the shutter at 48 while shooting 24fps.
These cameras are as open gate as it gets, there's no vertical resolution on sensors that's being cropped.
Steady shot is physically not possible on anamorphic lenses. Ibis can't correct an image that is squeezed.
All these entitled demands from people who don't know what they're talking about.

Anyone know why the variable shutter feature isn't in all the bodies except the a7iv? it helps with banding in video, it def doesn't get talked about enough for how useful it is.
Agreed , all this howling about shutter angle , makes no difference from speed , and they don't care about the far more important variable shutter , there is no way you have an A camera without this function, you will be totally screwed on day. I really don't understand why the big up roar about shutter angle , and none them care about this far more important thing.

Yes. I just shot a video with the fx30 4K DCI.
No excuses not to update the a7S III.
If you are updating your FX30 to firmware 2.0 Catalyst browse doesn’t work anymore using the footage of this cam. It simply results in a black screen when analyzing and exporting the footage. You have to downgrade the firmware to 1.5 in order to get it done again. (Same is on catalyst prepare)
How can I downgrade. Ive got normal image but the stabilised image is shacky an crap

*No Lie I had to Format TWICE lol cause ver 1.02--> ver 1.05 & then FORMAT again to get ver 2.0 lol and I'm using 2 sd cards so I hope that doesn't affect anything, but I just got the Camera Tuesday lmao. But So Far I LOVE THIS CAMERA. Haven't had a chance to shoot on it YET, living in Alaska there's still snow on the ground and I don't want to slip on melting Ice. But I'll put a vlog out myself just cause*
It doesn’t look like anyone made a video on how to install the firmware 3.0. Can you make a walk through on how to install the firmware 3.0?
It’s super easy. I went over it early in the video. Just download it from their website. Copy it to the root of your SD CARD. Insert it in the camera, go to the yellow setup tab, then go to setup option, version, then run the software update
I rewatched this video where you explain how to install it. Once I’m under version. It does not allow me to click the software update button. I am on the 2.02 version. Am I missing a step?

Working with a few production companies over the last year who shoot on FX6’s, and this has easily been one of the best investments I’ve made helping out as a B Cam.
This really gets it that much closer on sets!

Breathing Compensation. Everyone is complaining about it BUT does anybody stop to think about that the FX3 is 4k 1:1 readout so IF you crop in for breathing compensation, your true 4k image is no longer but is in fact upscaled to 4k....
Focus breathing doesn't work with the sigma 24-70mm Lens. Must only work with native Sony lenses... Or if there is a way to fix this please let me know
They have a list on Sony site. Try to do some homework.
Only select native Sony lenses. I don't think Sony will ever allow third-party lenses to use it.

You can’t call em Cine Cameras and not have Shutter Angle… They’re so impressive but the smallest details let em down. Also, why are they not discussing the overheating issues with the FX30?
