All I can say this groove is so super bad and that rhythm gituar player is killing it. This the baddest groove of the century!! No body can denied this groove jazz fusion at the fullest the Jeff Lober group can't touch this !!!!!!!
Although JLF band is up there with best, let's not get carried too far away, frankly. Many others flew under the radar, yet as sought after as JLF. I am thinking of Joe d'Alto, Bob Mintzer, Mike Mainieri and Dave Valentine...
All I can say is this groove is so bad that you can't denied this the rhythm gituar player is killing it pay attention to the groove it takes you to another PLANET the Jeff Lober is the Truth !!! RIP Ricky Lawson and Gerald Albright
With the exception of the original version with Dennis Bradford on the drum kit. No other Drummer out did Ricky's Groove on this track, Live.. And some Heavy Hitters have played this track live with Jeff - Rest In Peace Ricky
Yeah that's Ricky Lawson on drums, Nate Phillips on bass and Gerald Albright on sax... Went to Cooley High School in Detroit with Rick and Bass Guitarist Byron Miller...
So Ricky and Byron were early friends? I love both. I met Byron playing in munich with Alphone Mouzon in the early 80s, and later Ndugu and Sheila... but unfortunately, never seen Ricky live.
Always wondered why Jeff doesn't use more synth sounds live; he usually just uses electric piano, acoustic piano and organ sounds. He uses a nice palette in the studio, but not live. Just curious. He's still one of my favorite fusion keyboardists and artists. Valeriy Stepanov is hot on his heels.
Beautiful....bring back some great memories
I'm glad I discovered his music🎉
That Jeff Lorber was NOT invited to compose for Gran Turismo is a crime.
What a TITAN. And the rest of the band is funky as hell...I am loving this!
wtf he should've been a giant!
One of the best grooves ever man!
Jesus what a groove,,,, Rip Ricky
Lorber has always collaborated with the best Musicians, especially sax players...Kenny G, Albright, Koz, Marienthal ...etc

Pretty sure that is Ricky Lawson on drums and Gerald Albright on sax

Did Gerald mess up on 5:27 or was that apart of the performance. Great performance overall

NATE!
Who is on sax?Didn't this man play with phil collins?
Great stuff, only bad thing I can say is the God awful sound of that Korg Triton Organ, couldn't Lober get a real B3?
Korg Trinity😉
hes so baaaaaaaaaaaaddddd
Lorber is nasty
Sounds like he came in at the wrong moment :). At least his mess-ups sound better than most people's intentional playing.
Jazz for ya
Looks like he's been dead for weeks
in 2004 he was diagnosed with a kidney disease and received a kidney transplant from his wife. Probably that has to do with your observation.
