Kevin's empathy for animals and calm way of helping them helps me maintain my will to live and restore a little bit of faith in humanity and hope for the future.
I was lucky when I found my kingsnake egg bound, there was nothing twisted or out of order. I didn't even know they were female, as they were just a pet I'd had for 18 years with no eggs ever produced. I never brumated her before, but I moved at winter time from Nevada to Texas. That was all she needed to give me eggs. Now she is 23 years old and has a tumor that was slow growing, but is now getting huge to the point her scales are stretched out. It looks like she swallowed a chicken egg. I make sure she poops before I feed her, and I'm feeding her smaller meals. I would be surprised if she makes it to December.

These are my favorite videos. So much valuable information. I was a Vet Tech years ago so I want to say that, if you’ve never done this before, don’t do it. Kevin knows what he’s feeling as far as the anatomy of the snake. If you don’t have the experience it’s very easy to fatally injure the animal. Use an exotic veterinarian who has reptile experience. Many “exotic” vets take care of rabbits, gerbils, etc, and don’t know much about reptiles.
Beautiful snake, Kevin. Thanks for taking good care of her. I love this type of video as well as the herping, bee keeping and the peeks into Kevin's.snake drawers. We haven't seen Kevin's alligator lately. I have learned so much for Kevin.
I appreciate how Kevin helps snakes, like this lovely egg bound female. Now I know what to do if my snake has this problem. Please show more videos like this one. Thank you Kevin, for everything you do for the animals we love.
BRAVO! This information is very much needed as you never know how egg laying will go! Even though I will not be breeding or having eggs, I appreciate this iinformation and your life-saving tactics!!!
Love these videos! Was doing my externship at a clinic and a lady came in with an egg bound Ball Python. The vet didnt have much experience with this issue and we used this method to get the eggs! Keep these videos coming!!! So helpful!
Thank you for sharing. Where I live there is only one reptile vet and it is extremely difficult to get in to see that vet, so if there is something I can do to help my animals I love it.
I like these kinds of videos, even though I felt bad for that poor snake, hopefully she's not too sore after that. Egg binding is the main reason why I chose to get a male bearded dragon, though sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision because he can be a bit aggressive 😅
As someone who has given birth 3 times, the digging around is nowhere near as bad as passing the baby/egg 😂 Women get manhandled like this during labour sometimes too.
That's my fear with my parrots. I have a budgie that stays constantly in season. She's just turned 3 years old and she's trying to nest now. I'm scared she will start laying eggs and become egg bound.
@@kiki29073 My Bella (owl) is 6 now and she is an imprint. I went in and saw she had made a scrape. After I went in she laid her egg. I now avoid contact when she’s in the mood to breed. (It only happens once a year)
super useful knowledge, ty! My rat snake got egg bound w/ slugs. I gave her a few days, but they were still in her. Your videos gave me confidence to slowly work the last 3 out, the last one was the biggest
The amount of effort it takes not to make a joke about fingering a snake is a stretch. But im glad shes doing fine, i was concerned for a moment at that second egg but everything went back in no problem.
I am fascinated by anything medical. I don't know why, I just always have been. That poor mama, I was cringing for her! Anyone who has given birth to a baby with a big head knows exactly what it feels like.
Kevin is more knowledgeable about reptiles than *_every_* "exotic vet" I've been to in my state 💯 (WA state) All our "exotic vets" advertise as specializing in _ferrets, guinea pigs, parrots, etc_ (with most making the distinction they are *not* livestock vets which is a 3rd separate specialty) But excluding birds, I feel like those small mammals easily could/should be left to the regular cat/dog vets 🤔 But I digress... The point is, I'd take a sick reptile to Kevin over an _exotic vet_ *100%* of the time and be *way more comfortable* that my beloved animal is in good hands 💯👍
I just bought a male and female burm i have ambient temp in house set to 85f can i let them free roam at the same time or do i want to always have seperate
I find these procedures fascinating, though Kevin really needs a camera person on him at all times so the footage gets shot properly and slow him down so he can explain his thoughts rather than him chasing his thoughts and not saying much lol
Helping sick or injured animals is great. Kevin, you just keep making them. She definitely wouldhave died where you not there to help. A twisted reproductive part is no fun.
I cant even imagine how bad it would hurt. To have giant retained eggs swelling and rotting inside you until you get sepsis and die...thank god it can usually be treated
Your truly amazing and you love ALL creatures. I believe God expects us to care for all of them too. Oh I recently discovered something here. We have beautiful blue racers. I'm told they're rare and protected and I can't capture one. Even if I just wanted to hold it and appreciate its beauty and release it. They're so stunning. 😍
While that snake may survive this ordeal, and it likely would not have without intervention, the end of the video clearly shows the oviduct prolapsing with the egg, and then rupturing to deliver the egg, not through the natural opening. Hope you don't plan on breeding this girl again... A good herp vet might have been able to save her reproductive potential, and certainly would have been more humane than ripping organs out of a fully awake animal.
Kevin's empathy for animals and calm way of helping them helps me maintain my will to live and restore a little bit of faith in humanity and hope for the future.
😂 weirdo!
I feel the same, as a sentient, rational human being who respects all life, and wants to make the most of the one we've been given. Much love to you!!
Well said
Hey, whatever helps you get through...💯
Kevin is truly the most educated and intelligent person when I comes to reptiles in the US.
ANY VIDEO FROM NERD & KEVIN IS AWESOME
Those are very kind thoughts. Thank
You. ❤
As scary as it is to see videos like this, I absolutely love them. They're very educational and showcases the excellent husbandry at NERD.
Glad you enjoyed it
The kindness and love that Kevin shows for these animals has absolutely melts my heart! I love watching these videos.
Kind.
I absolutely 💯 agree 😊
Kevin was definitely a vet in a previous life ❤

Education is key in life... the more you know the better keeper you are. Brilliant video. Thank you. More would be appreciated ❤❤❤😊
Absolutely!
I love watching these videos just to see how he goes about recovering those eggs that were bounded in the snake.
Yes indeed. Love these videos... Actually all his videos are good to watch. I learn so much. I appreciate you Kevin.
I love videos like this. It’s like a snake version of pimple popping
Kevin does an incredible job taking care of his collection! I really enjoy these videos.
Kevin... you saved that snake... and you're awesome for doing it! ❤
This type of video is always interesting. Thank you
Always love and am completely fascinated by these videos, Kevin is absolutely amazing and these animals are beyond lucky to have him❤
I absolutely salivate for these medical videos. I would love for Kevin to do a DVD series on common medical problems and skills to correct them. 🥹
Excellent short med video. I really like these med vids.
Fascinating video! I appreciate these short, interesting videos!
I love this type video! I enjoy seeing Kevin work his magic on these animals.

I like the medical videos. The care and needs of the animals are my favorites.

It was educational and good to watch
Love these videos. And how you walk people through it.
Great job again Kevin all the best from the UK ❤️🇬🇧
Kind.
Thanks for the class Mr. Kevin!!
That snake is a Poster Snake for Ball Python personality!! What a good girl ❤
Great Work Kevin, You are a true ambassador to people who love snakes, Dont try this unless you have this man's knowledge
Kevin GOOD SAVE!!!

@@joanna0988 ah, fair enough
Well done! I worry that my owl will become egg bound. At least I know if it happens to one of my snakes I can ring you.

pool pool noodle, having eggs this giant stuck inside
These are extremely valuable. My 33 year old ball python had impacted scent glands.
I just had a corn snake with that.
Love these videos
Thank you for a great video!

Gread vid guys and kevin , you are a hero my guy. Also what happened to donny ? is he still around ?
Not anymore, Donny has his own channel now. Him and Kev are still friends though

I had 2 giant headed babies, fractured my tailbone with the first 😂😩
that snake was so calm 😮 wow
I absolutely love these video's and learning from Kevin u guy's a amazing ❤
love it, keep em coming please!
❤ you guys and I think Kevin is amazing. Just saying you are too dude. I subscribed to your channel too.
Thank you Donna! I haven’t been posting much because I’m focused on helping Kev for now, but I will eventually
Very much appreciated.
❤ I love these videos thank you😊
Glad you like them!
You are amazing! ❤

Great video as always
Amazing, still I’m pleased I wasn’t eating my dinner watching this

Appreciated.
I like these kinds of videos very cool
I think this really helps people who have a snake going through this and it helps them know what to do if this happened
How long to safely do this procedure since the last egg come out?
I'm so glad I don't lay eggs. 😬
I just bought a male and female burm i have ambient temp in house set to 85f can i let them free roam at the same time or do i want to always have seperate
Do you think about taking these animals out of further breeding, because eggboundness could be inherhited to the nex generation?
I’ve actually had them lay again and all was fine.
QUESTION: Sorry havent watched in a while but whos that guy at the end? What happen to the other video dude donny?
He’s Andy. Donny has his own channel.
I find these procedures fascinating, though Kevin really needs a camera person on him at all times so the footage gets shot properly and slow him down so he can explain his thoughts rather than him chasing his thoughts and not saying much lol

I hope the snake is okay now.
She is.
What causes them to get eggbound and is it preventable? Does breeding females increase the risks or decrease?
❤
I was a bad girl Kevin.
Great job

I wish people would stop doing this. Just leave the snake to pass it on its own
Kevin even mentioned how it couldn't and how it was two weeks since she laid the rest of the clutch normally
