You would not believe how many educated people are really stuck in their bubble. I've met so many doctors and engineers and they're very smart but only when it comes to their field - they can only talk about their work and that's it. It makes people very capable but so boring, like what do you talk to them about that's not their work?
So, seeing someone like you is a breath of fresh air! Welcome to booktube! Hopefully, I'll join the ranks soon :D

Hi Dolapo! I really resonated with this video. I attended an engineering college for my undergrad and got a CS/Math degree, and for my graduate I attended another CS program at a public university. I loved my peers and those programs but they definitely tended to be cultural monoliths!
I completely empathize that being a lit fic person in those cultural silos can be discouraging; not being into videogames/anime/fantasy/tech-bro culture has often made me feel a bit like an outcast at times. I’ve found that booktube can be a good outlet for finding people with different interests!

I think I can relate to you! I lived abroad for years and made friends who love reading there, but now that I'm back in the U.S. and in a new city, I don't have anyone I can see/talk to regularly who reads much at all. I'm also a STEM person so it was already hard to find those reading friends in the first place 😅 Having the online book community is such a great way to hear about a variety of books and see others' thoughts on what they're reading... somehow I feel such a sense of connection with people I don't even know. I work with network, electrical and RF engineers along we a few computer scientists. I must admit that I do not recall any of the folks at work discussing books/literature. It is mainly video games I hear about. I love the fact that you would like to discuss the thoughts and ideas that authors hope we discover while reading their books. I have subsçribed to your channel and look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to booktube! I'm a Data Scientist, so sort of computer science-adjacent but I found very few booktube content creators who are in STEM fields, despite the fact, that in my experience with my friends and acquaintances, a lot of people in STEM love reading, both fiction and non-fiction. So I'm looking forward to seeing future videos from you and have a more tech related perspective in the booktube space!

Hi Dolapo! Your book selection is sooo varied, I love that!! I think its easy to fall into reading niches within booktube, so the fact that you read so widely is exciting! Very very happy to have come across your page. Looking forward to following along with your journey on here 😊
