It’s weird that the Mazin Hamsters weren’t mentioned. The Mazin Hamsters had their own game within Webkinz world , but it closed in 2015. Basically, the Mazin Hamsters lost an important place or hometown.

All I knew about the lore of this fine civilization is that there's a shocking amount of rare metals and jewels in the mine just laying in the open as if the miners all disappeared, there's gotta be a story behind that...

Who else remembers the quest to find the last unknown food recipe? That one took weeks and months to find with thousands of different combo attempts. The forums went crazy when someone finally found it

I remember distinctly back in the day when they had the Parents Area FAQ, parents raised concern about Wacky being so violent, and the company literally really wrote out, “it’s ok-Wacky enjoys being whacked so no harm”. THEY REALLY WROTE HE ENJOYS BEING HIT.
Damn completely forgot about Wacky and his undying love for being full on yeeted by six year old me.
I think it even says that in the game. I'm not sure why they thought making a masochistic creature is a good idea in a kids' game that seems pretty innocent otherwise
As a 23 year old who somehow still has their account since 2008, it's actually interesting watching Webkinz slowly become a thing again. I also say till this very day, some of those arcade games are so goddamn difficult that I can't remember when I got a new high score....

I learned so much from webkinz, whether it be creating my first username, owning a garden, making online friends, gambling (wishing well), my first loss, taking care of my webkinz, bathing my pets, some more gambling (wheel of wow), fun games, and owning a home, and using the wasd keys instead of arrows.
2nd best game I ever played as a kid was on miniclip called raft wars, and nitrome games

OMG miniclip was awesome! Commando was a blast (i think there was a commando 2, too) and I also remember the sushi game. Those and the nitrome ones were my childhood

I got 2 Webkinz when I was a Kindergartener. I played the online game very briefly, until my mom realized there was an online chatroom and forbade me from playing altogether. I didn't really mind, though. I just played with them like they were regular stuffed animals for the next several years. Watching this video made me sad that my mom made me kill 2 Webkinz and I was essentially playing with their corpses.
I think its wild she made you stop because there was a chatroom, as the webkinz chat options are completely and utterly useless and you cant really communicate
@@transylvanian Honestly, she’s been overprotective for my entire life, but I’m glad she loves me, seeing as not everyone gets loving parents. To this day, I’ve never been home alone for more than a few minutes and I’ve never been out in the big world without adult supervision, but somehow, that doesn’t bother me.

that's a shame, because the chatroom feature in webkinz has always been HEAVILY moderated and restricted, its one of the safest chat systems I've ever seen. You definitely would have been fine

i had a webkinz frog that i carried around everywhere for 6th months when i was going through a really hard time :( residential therapy and everything, his name was oranges! then i lost him outside a moes :( i miss you oranges

i've seen a few episoes and it turns out it's not. the toys aren't aliv eon their own. she just had a magic sethoscope that brings them to life. that's why they can move around her which would be unacceptable in the toy story universe.

Apparently there were plans for a crossover episode that were later scrapped.
The thing I remember from Webkinz was the insatiable hunger for rare stuff to put in your house - like I spent legit months trying to get this bumper car you could drive around.
I also remember that there was another game like Webkinz for a slightly older audience, called Millsberry I think.
I wanted to collect all the pet specific items/foods!! That was what I always traded for in the rooms, HAH!
I think my favorite rare item I had was this designer rainbow dress that I somehow got the correct recipe for by pure coincidence when I was just shoving random things together in the clothing shop 😂

I remember there used to be a separate website that would link to your account that had games on it and if you got enough points you'd get super rare items. I think I spent more time on that website than Webkinz itself

As an avid webkinz enthusiast i HATE webkinz next. They should have put their time and money into rewriting webkinz a better more updated code so that it’s not crashing all the time
nobody teaches flash in school these days, and webkinz x, their last ui update, had terrible reception and still has remnants broken to this day
Webkinz was so important to me as a child, I had like five of them and played it a lot. It was so fun, and each mini game was great. I would have sleepovers with my friend and we would play it together. It was like the only multiplayer online game I played as a young kid. No club penguin, no Wizard 101, no ruinscape. Just Webkinz
My siblings and I used to have a ton of webkins and played the game fairly often. Sadly, the account was deleted in the archived account deletion of 2019.

My 126 webkinz have become self sufficient to the point I only even have to check on em every once in a while. Like most of them are fully employed and they live in a mansion with a loaded bank account and enough birthday cake to feed a small country. I’d say they’re doing pretty good.

as I kid I was always pretty skeptical of the Webkinz killer thing but the only thing that made me not totally dismiss it at the time was the fact that tamagotchis die all the time so virtual pet death via neglect wasn’t a total impossibility to me

there (at one point, i'm not sure if it still works but i haven't been able to get it to work for years) used to be quick videos that played when you clicked your tv including shows like chef gaspacho(?)'s cooking show, the monkey ventriloquist comedy show, and some other one. idk if they had deep lore but they were kinda cool
gazpacho had some stories in the newzpaper when they did those. one of which was a rival restaurant and him having to find a way to compete with the new dishes they were serving. unfortunately i can't find it online, it might rotate around since they rotate through them still (albeit an archive)
When I was in school, the rumors were that Ms birdie was kidnapping and collecting people's Webkinz for her niece. Rumors change so much depending on where you live

I grew up playing Webkinz! I collected them for 4H, and had over 20, but I got one as a gift from the rich side of the family and I loved it! It made me sad when the last time I loaded it, the flash-esque player wasn't able to really keep up, but I love that I'm able to still do in game. Love to see you covering this IP, very nostalgic. I credit my crystal obsession as an adult to Artie 😂
There used to be a really small official webkinz/ganz store near my cousins house (in the country idk why it was there but it was) and once me and my siblings went there cause my siblings had saved up money to buy webkinz, the guy working at the store was this sweet old man and he asked if I was getting anything, but I wasn't because I didn't have money saved up (I was too young to help shovel snow and do other chores for neighbors for money), so the guy played a really obvious "guess what hand it's in" game with a pack of the trading cards and gave me a pack of trading cards, for free. i will always cherish that memory. The store is no longer there.

there were more w tales stories released in the newzpaper, but screenshots of most were lost. one of them gave amanda an origin (she moved from the city, hated it, tried to run away, met a friend and found the wish machine) though most other characters are originless
the googles are actually a pre-existing ganz toy from the 80s-90s which they put into the game as a nod to their legacy. they're primarily associated with what ganz calls its "heritage collection"
oh and also webkinz went free to play years ago, you don't have to buy a pet unless you want to send gifts n shit, and even then, they have deluxe that can basically just do that anyway, especially with the actual plush having their quantity limited
also they had an faq on the site that pretty much said webkinz don't die and are basically kids ala nintendogs so i had no reason to assume as a kid that the killer rumor held weight

When i was in foster care i played Webkinz a lot my username was a bunch of random letters so i lost access to my account when i left foster care😂 Rosebud and bdude are long gone now but ill always remember the fun i had on this silly game during that time they were a yellow lab and a gecko
When I was a kiddo, I had like 12 Webkinz, and I prized them over my own life 😂 I also loved the minigames (especially anyrhing with Poncho).
Plus when I was about 10 my best friend moved away, we stayed in contact by playing the Tournament Arena for hours. Those were the days ❤

This game was literally my childhood, I played it every day for like 7-8 years straight with my sisters.
Looking back on it, the only reason it was fun is because we would compete to see who could get the best scores, the most Kinzcash, and who could collect the most cool stuff, but it was genuinely a good time

i had a webkinz account years ago and i had a ton off webkinz on it- its sad that they decided to delete there inactive accounts and now its gone but i understand they needed to free up the servers. the sadest part though that im upset about is that the two tree frog webkinz i had where stolen by some older kids who wanted them and lied to there mom about me giving them to them so she said "i couldnt take back a gift." so the digital webkinz of them where all i had left of them... guess if the kids a jerk there parents are jerks to oof. it been like 13 years sense that happened and im still mad.

I remember when I was in around Pre-K and they were handing out Treefrogs and Clownfish. It was probably for some fundraiser or something to raise awareness.
There is also the struggle that the bars for the Webkins are super hard to refill, especially one you have more then 5 on an account for gaining money was slow and maintaining health cost, Im pretty sure even if I managed to log back into my account I'd not be able to get any of my Webkins to full recovery.
they're broken when wandering around the game while asleep. energy can be regained via repeatedly going on a treadmill/trampoline and happiness is so easy to get you might as well drown in it.
only food sucks, and even then there's a multitude of filling foods to fix it (burgers, spaghetti, hot dogs, sushi, shrimp, ramen noodles and ice cream being a few of them)

Am I the only one that likes to think of Snootz (From Beanie Babies 2.0) as the Webkinz killer..? I think it would make a good plot. He goes insane after years of being forgotten and losing everyone and everything he loved in Beanieland. He then lashes out on the virtual pet game that is still up and running today, Webkinz.

When you make a Webkinz account, you don't need to use an E-mail address. I probably didn't do that for my old account. A lot of accounts I made as a kid used nonsensical gibberish for their usernames and passwords, so I'd never be able to guess it. It probably got deleted for inactivity. R.I.P. Amadeus, my Brown Spotted Leopard Lizard. I don't even have the plushie anymore.

One thing that always stuck out to me is in the care book you get for your webkinz they make it very clear that your webkinz can't die. I have at least 4 accounts I've forgotten the login to and now I have 4 pets forever on the brink of death.

so i was with my grandmother (Step dad's mom but calling her grandmother for sake of the story) at some....shop, i dont remember what, and they had this event going on where with a purchase, you got to spin this wheel
i spun it and wow my chickadee bird webkinz, and i still have him (he's one of the few i still have) between me and my sister we had a lot, she had more, "Gave" some of the plushies to me, but our accounts were lost many....many years ago
i will just always remember that and keep that bird safe, (I Say as he's falling apart)
