Hi ITWW, Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly your RO filter is working on the water softened by the whole house system. I'd need to know more about your RO system. Does it mix back in some of the softened water? What's the TDS of the water out of your RO system? Reason I ask: In commercial environments like a coffee shop with RO the RO system produces water with a TDS of near zero - no minerals. From there a percentage of water with minerals is added back to the RO treated water to produce water with enough mineral content to support good flavor and protect equipment. Perfectly pure zero TDS RO water over-extracts coffee and may cause corrosion of metals in espresso machines. Bottom line is you do not want to use zero TDS water in espresso machines. If the water out of your RO is remineralized but still in the soft range of 75-125ppm then probably no need for additional filtration. But you still may need to descale once in awhile. If unsure, or for peace of mind use of a filter can eliminate or seriously reduce the need to descale the machine.
Yes, you're correct, the RO filters the drinking water after the whole house filter/softner does. Good question on the TDS content, I'm not sure what the TDS content is, but I don't think the model we have puts solids back in. The water first goes thru an Ecowater ECC 3500 water filter/softener (whole house) then that water (for drinking) goes thru the RO (Ecowater ERO-175) which I'm guessing filters out about 95% more TDS, but not sure, and we added an additional filter after that to filter MTBE. There's a separate spout for that drinking water that goes thru the RO filtration, so we can use just the whole house filtration or RO. We add potassium to the WHF instead of salt, if that makes any difference. Yes, definitely will be descaling it regularly no matter what. 👍 Thank you!
Hi guys, I have this machine and I recently I’ve installed the Flow control, but I think something wrong is happening with it, the flow is uneven in each use, for example sometimes at 1 1/4 turn the flow rate can be at ~7g/s but sometimes it can be 4g/s, this is hard to dialing with new beans, and even, if I don’t use the device and leave open, every shot/flow can be very different. Please help me with this. Thanks
This may seem like a quite a superficial question, but is it possible to switch the VAPORE and AQUA labels to another colour? I’m not sure why but the fact that they red ruin the clean look for me.
Interesting, this was a selling point for me (along with the overall aesthetic). I will say that I found the red accents much less bright / noticeable in person than most pictures suggest. The really pop in many photos but seem much more subtle to me irl. What I would like to do is swap the hot water and steam wands over, mainly because of my kitchen layout…
Hi Jacob, it's setup and first use - not a review. Water filtration is best practice to remove chlorine and reduce scale buildup. Don't have to use a filter but makes for better tasting coffee and less frequent descaling.

It also doesn't need a device like this and you can use whatever other water filtration system you already have. Half the video was dedicated to water filtration - a topic far better covered in thousands of other videos on the topic. A brief mention would have been sufficient. I did notice it was a setup video after this comment though - so I guess a little more suitable.

FWIW, an E61 group has a mechanical, rather than a solenoid operated valve.
