I have this Skil Autohammer - it is a very useful tool. Thanks for showing the range of fasteners it will drive.
Anytime!!
I have never used a hammer since this revolutionary loophole was discovered. This thing is awesome. What can't it do?!!!! Thanks. Keep posting awesome content.
I appreciate it!!! Glad it's working well for you!!!
wow, i didn't know until this video that tool existed. I need one. Subscribed. ...very nice
It's such a great tool!!!!
Thanks for the followup to your 1st video on this hammer. I didn't realize it was so versatile. Keep up the great content too.
Thank you!!
I can't wait to get mine! Such an awesome tool. Great review video man! I appreciate all of the different nail and fastener types. I was gonna use it at my shop on vehicles but you just showed me that it's gonna help me build my deck too! Thanks man!
It's so versatile!!
Well done best video on here
@@davidgooden219 thanks!!!
I was about to buy the Milwaukee palm nailer then I read comments saying it can't nail finishing nails, which is why I need it. Saved 100 bucks buying this instead. Thanks for the great video.
I love this thing its so versatile!
Thanks. SOLD... I am ordering right now.
Awesome!
Nice video. Thanks for donating your time to demostrate this valuable tool. I have since purchased.
Thank you!
I got to know this product thanks to your first video. So, thank you, I appreciate it. Ordered one on amazon as soon as I saw your video, received it on March 1st. For wood is very good, awesome. I also tried it in concrete walls, as I need to fix some cables to that kind of walls. But is not very good for that use. Also noticed hard to align on very small nails that have cable holders on them. I like a lot the Skil new generation of tools. Also got their oscillating multitool as soon as it was released some time ago, love it. Thanks man, please keep up the good work and sharing info about cool new tools. Regards, and blessings.
Appreciate it!!! Glad it's working well for you!!!
I freaking love mine! Thanks for the video!
It's such a great tool!
I have the m12 palm nailer, but with that skil articulating head, it can get into tighter spaces than the m12. But you gave me some more uses, great video!!!
Thank you!! Yes the articulating head is a big win!
I have the Skil 40v lawn tools and love them all. Also have some of the 12v and everything is fantastic. There is life before, a harder life and life after buying Skil, a great company now.
I completely agree! They make great tools!!
Just ordered one based on this review. Years ago I bought an air-powered palm nailer and I was not happy. I plan on using this with a blade to cut glued braces on hoods for PDR. I have spent countless hours pushing whale tails through this glue.
Glad I could help!!!
Ok I'm impressed now very cool tool!
Yes it is!
I do not work in the trades, but do home repairs and never heard of this before. My Skil electric screwdriver works great. It held a charge unused for more than year. So this hammer is something I would like to have eventually.
Brilliant mate.
It is!
Great video bro 👍 👌🏽 👏
Thanks bro!!
Good vid. No nonsense.
Thank you!
I'm sold on this tool!
It's an awesome tool!!!
Worth the money just for the wire staples alone!
My thought exactly!!!
Works great, even when the nails are started crooked! I'll bet it would also work great for vibrating concrete forms!
Absolutely
I asked about the wire staple. Omg that is a so slick!! Some tight areas of homes this tool will shine!!! Looking forward to buying one! And your video with the boxes had me sold but the staples this will be great.
Dewalt makes a staple tool but this Skil one will be a better choice I think. What are you thoughts????
I have the dewalt stapler, this would be way easier for tight areas
😮 COOL 😎
Thanks!
😮 holy cow it’s powerful
Yes it is!!
i had a tough time getting a stuck control arm ball joint out of a knuckle on my car and had to take both off just to swing a sledge at it. i wonder how well this thing would do against it. looking into a tool like this now. thanks alot man
So, I'm reaching new work boots and your other video is recommended for this auto hammer. Random, youtube, makes no sense. Now, I'm going ti csbelas for new workboots and also picking up one of these mama jammas. I need more side work
Hahahaah !
I was hoping it was gonna work well with the romex staple lol it would help alot. You should try it on installing recess cans and 4-0 nail ons.
Good idea! The 2 nail staples are way easier
Sold!
Yes!
Can it be used for quarter round trim work, or is getting the angle too hard?
How about toe-nailing?
Perfect for both!
This looks like a great product, and because of that it’s out of stock everywhere!
It is! I have emails out to skil on supply not sure what's going on but I'll find out!
Great tool for shingle repairs where you’re not fighting the shingle trying to hammer. All my tools are Ridgid for lifetime warranty. I think they make an attachment for their multi-tool. Need to check it out
This would work really well for that!
Rigid hasn't made the JobMax autohammer attachment for several years now, you can often find them on eBay but they are pricey.
@@Pro1er they do still make their small pneumatic palm one though
do you think this could work for hammering camping stakes to the ground?
The mouth may be too small
I usually have to hammer metal parts at work in order to close gaps between them. I've been using a metal rod and a small hammer and it's a real pain in the ass. Would this work well for something like that, or is it really only good for nails?
It would work probably really well, the anvil hits past the collet and I think would work for you
Man that's so cool and practical. How long does the batt last? If I buy one ill probably just get a dewalt adapter for it
darn nvm just saw that its a 12v tool. might have to go with the hikoki instead to use my dewalt 20v batts
Quite a while, roughed in boxes on an entire house and still had plenty battery left. Definitely one of my favorite tools!
@@thecarplumbtrician hellz yea, boxes and the occasional nail plate are really the only reason I want one!
@@bearlemke there's so many other uses too, but that's mainly what I use it for too haha
3:22 What's the official name of those cable stack thingies and where can I find them? I tried looking up cable stacks but could only find 1 result and that was on lowes for something that kinda looked the same.
Look up cable stacker on home depot
@@thecarplumbtricianPerfect, thank you!
How would it perform driving nails into thinner, unsupported wood - Something with a bit of spring to it?
Because it has such low and rapid impacts it would do very well. Same reason why you get little to no feedback from it when running nails in to wood!
How abour using it when tapping in a seal on a transfercase where you cant get a tradional hammer in the spot. Can this go easy enough as to not tear up the seal..
I'd say yes! Very controllable with pressure
Would this be applicable for auto mechanics? Can u do a video on uses for automobiles. Thanks
To knock out seals and such? I think so!
Dude I didn’t even know this existed! Getting one asap
Its possibly my favorite tool!
@@thecarplumbtrician I can see why. Did you get it online? I can’t find it at lowes
@@darinmacfarland6605 they sent it to me, check Amazon
@@thecarplumbtrician ahhh gotcha ok thanks man!
Will it run a pickle fork between a control arm and ball joint?
Possibly!
this tool also instead of nails would work great on Car's/Trucks , say for alljoints suspension parts etc
I also found for roll pins it's great!
thank you just heard about them the other day, but i do not want to use it for a hammer but rather to drive out spent rivets in a harvest cutter bar, will it work for that?
Yes! I'd suggest using a punch or round chisel with it but absolutely will work!
@@thecarplumbtrician ok, i have discussed a tool like this with the traveling reps of Dewalt and Milwaukee, but they did not have
@@philippetays4263 milwaukee has a similar one, but not articulating head
@@thecarplumbtrician i will check that out
Would like to try this around the shop in place of a airhammer
It would probably fit in well!
What is the biggest size mail heads it will take, I need to push 0.56 inch nails heads in....??? Thanks!
It fits a roofing nail and that's got a pretty big head!
I had a vague recollection these existed the other day when I was putting in electrical boxes that come with the cheap Chinese nails that bend anytime you're nailing into anything but fresh, knotless fir. Ugh, the aggravation! It's impossible to get a good straight hammer swing between studs where the clearance is 14.5" but the nail on a double gang box doesn't leave you jack squat for clearance for a hammer swing so you choke up on the hammer and are tapping forever just to drive a nail. Then, if you're right handed, but the box has to go on the left side of the stud, plus it's angled upward from the floor.... Aggggh - damn it! Never again. I'm getting one of these.
It does really well for rough in!!!
You should try concrete cut nails in a concrete slab house just to see if it is possible
I'll give it a go!
@@thecarplumbtrician did it work?
@@TheRainHarvester not enough bang. It'll sink 3-1/2" framers but takes a bit
Can it drive a nail into a dried eucalyptus and on concrete?
@@edwardkinyanjui1286 not concrete
It's now listed on lowes but out of stock, so I would expect it to be shipped soon
I'm waiting on a reply from skil as to why it's not available anywhere. I know a few people got them from pre order
how would this work for automotive applications? loosing ball joints or turning a stuck fastener?
I think it would help!
This guy just did that! ua-cam.com/video/yZpnqkjOIEo/v-deo.html
@@austinleggett302 awesome!
How does it work for 3/8 all thread ? Serious question through dirt?
How far are we talking
@The CarPlumbTrician 18inchs terrain does vary. I use a mini sledge currently was just curious
@Joshua Nash the low impacts are nice, similar to a chipping hammer, but not sure if it'll have enough to drive it all the way. What do you run all thread in the ground for?
Does anyone know how well this would work for drywall nails I’ve had problems in the past with screws so I wanted to use nails and this seemed like an easier alternative than a traditional hammer to get the nails flush with the drywall any help would be appreciated.
Perfectly
@@thecarplumbtrician thank you very much I’ve been trying to get better at some home upkeep and I’ve always had a problem with Sheetrock hopefully this will help when I go to mud the walls again thank you very much sir
@aranmosher1507 good luck! Come on back if you need any tips!
Where can I get one of these? Can't find anyone who sells it
Good question. A few people pre ordered and got them, but they they became unavailable. I've emailed skil but haven't gotten an answer
Where can I buy it??? Checked Amazon and Lowes, no luck 😎🛠️😎🛠️😎
Hmmm let me check for you!!!
@@thecarplumbtrician Thanks!!!
I ordered 1 on Amazon the day they went on sale. I think it sold out
I've used multiple times it's AWESOME
@@p00d78 that's awesome!!!
I’m more thinking of using it for light duty air hammer stuff around car and semi trucks just throw a small round punch in and go
Perfect use!
Wonder how it would do with chisel handles for work on cutting out the recesses on door frames and strike plates used for kick resistant strike plate installation. Hate traditional hammers on this type of stuff.
Might work well! It's got good power and really good control
But can it be used to get my damn seized locking collars off on my coilovers?!?!?!?!
It might! The micro impacts do wonders
Can this drive a roll pin out
Yup!!
I can't seem to find them on sale anywhere
I emailed skil about this but haven't received anything back. Not sure what happened
@@thecarplumbtrician thank you
@@thecarplumbtrician I've really looked hard all over the world. Sometimes we don't get what you get here in England but I figured I could get a 240v charger here and import it from anywhere. I've looked in China, the middle East, all across Europe canada and even south America, nothing.
@@caramelypoops I know it's so weird it fell off tye face of the earth. I know a few people who pre-ordered got them but that's it
Try using it in the space between the (2) 2 x 4 s
Its surprisingly skinny
I’m not on the Skil line. Considering it now just for this tool.
It's worth it!!!
@@thecarplumbtrician I think your right brother.
@@paedahe4975 I wouldn't lie!
I have eight of the Skil 12v tools - they are well designed and built, and generally compare well to 18v and 20v tools in performance.
@@ontheroadwithralph1530 I agree!
No more mashed thumbs!
Nope! Haha

The Skil auto-hammer can’t do anything for you if you can’t buy one. Good luck finding this product… or even one like it.
I have emails out to skil to see what's going on with this
there's the milwaukee palm nailer but its way bulkier. wonder why you can't buy it anywhere anymore. maybe it was way more popular than skil anticipated and had to order more.

slow compared to nail guns, framing, roofing and finish nail guns. Useful for electicians? plumbers??

But why a 12 volt battery?
Light, compact, and plenty of power for what it does
I don't know whether to get this tool or Milwaukee's palm nailer. I already have M12 batteries, so i would only need the tool. I would be using it in HVAC for J hooks and wire staples, but it would be interesting to see how they compare!
I'll have to get one and see how they do! I like the skil because of the head
