I was a rough-in plumbing installer and bought the M12 Palm Nailer. Unfortunately, the height of it made it useful in very limited situations. It did come in reasonably handy when I was fixing siding.
They are also phenomenal for mechanics when trying to get rusted studs, lugs or bolts out. Chop off the end of a chisel, round off the head. Or get a brass drill bit and round it off so you don’t damage the bolt.
I've had my skil auto hammer for about 2 1/2 months, as soon as it came out I bought it. I use it in residential construction as an electrician and it has held up to the abuse so far. And I let the other guys use the auto hammer to. The 2Ah battery actually lasts quite a while for nailing in boxes and if you have enough arm power you could hammer the nails in thriugh wood up to a #16 framers nail. Toenailing made easy. Makes a long day short when you have to box a whole house.
I have the Skil because I injured my right hand years ago and this allows me to accurately drive nails, especially in awkward locations. I have eight of the Skil 12v brushless tools.
@@Tools-Tested I adopted the Skil 12v platform in part because of their size and weight (again, easier for me to use with a partially disabled right hand). All the Skil 12v tools appear to be well-engineered and made. Performance-wise, I think they favorably compare to many low- to mid-range 20v tools. For what you get, I think they are very fairly priced and a good choice for DIYers and some light/medium duty pro users. My only complaint is that some of the tools are only available in a kit with a battery and charger; I have yet to pick up the jigsaw because of this (which is a disappointment, because I like its barrel design). I already have five batteries and three chargers, and don't really need more. Oh, and I wish Skil would add a sander to the 12v line-up.
@@ontheroadwithralph1530 Yeah I did notice that a lot of the tools were in kits and not separate. I really like that the battery has a usb port though.. Hopefully they expand the line. Seem like tool manufacturers come out with a new tool every week.
I’ve only tried the Milwaukee and hated it . It was my friends and He also hated it. He returned it . Jumps around a lot when you tried to us it above your head . It’s heavy , really heavy
I do alot of concrete wall forms and looking for a tool to get into around rebar and ties to fasten cant strips for nicer pour edges. Forget a regular hammer or staple gun here, so that skill palm nailer with the adjustable head angle makes the most sense for me.
I'm not a carpenter, I'm a mechanic. I have instances where I am removing roll pins in very awkward positions. I picture making an insert that will accept my pin punches and fit nicely into the tool. I'm really getting tired of taking a ball peen to the knuckles. Milwaukee will have to be the choice as that is what I already own. Besides, they're the leader in my view of battery-operated tools.
that clip idea on the battery is genius bro you might wanna look into the paten on the idea before skil or milwaukee steals it. Milwaukee are already taking the usb idea from skill on there new batt stuff coming out next year but i didn't see a clip on them either at pipeline. It would be awesome to charge your phone or to have another battery with you so you don't have to make a trip back to the tool station or truck
For $60 I got Rigid palm pneumatic nailer. Cons: it is not cordless and needs compressor. Pros: if you already have compressor with long air hose, it is cheap, indestructible, very compact and very fast.
Id still prefer the skl to the millwauki because of its flexibility for me it is worth the few extra seconds...if i need something faster id just use a nail gun...
I actually have the craftsman. It's the exact same tool, chargers even work with both brands. You can even swap batteries and they both work. I think when Sears went bankrupt the sold it to master force.
The Skil is a bit faster when you change the angle... but also much harder to get in a tight space, which seems like half the point of these things. If I had enough space to fit the Skil with the head extended, I'd probably be able to just use a nail gun
The Milwaukee is almost double the vibration, but it’s a lot faster. I wouldn’t want to use either much more then a hour at a time. Similar to a 1/2 impact gun when it’s impacting if that makes sense..
Dude used to run farm and construction equipment WITHOUT ear protection in my younger days. Trying to save what's left before needing hearing aids at 40 lol

All my cordless tools are Milwaukee's, but that Skil auto nailer is the best design.
Yep I defiantly like that you can reposition the head, but that Milwaukee has a lot of power!
Same here.
That Milwaukee in this case is just too big and awkward for so uses. I think for the money I would pick Skil
I was a rough-in plumbing installer and bought the M12 Palm Nailer. Unfortunately, the height of it made it useful in very limited situations. It did come in reasonably handy when I was fixing siding.
Yep it’s powerful but awkward in size, I ended up selling it on eBay.
They are also phenomenal for mechanics when trying to get rusted studs, lugs or bolts out. Chop off the end of a chisel, round off the head. Or get a brass drill bit and round it off so you don’t damage the bolt.
Could you demonstrate that getting bolts out? You peaked my interest.

Nice, yeah good thing you did. They have been hard to get. I can definitely see it coming in handy for boxes.
@@Tools-Tested I was using it and my coworkers wanted them so bad haha. Needed to buy 7 more but I guess I have to wait
I'm really wanting to buy it to rough in houses, I'm a resi guy too. Does it really work to box a whole house faster than hammering?

skils 12v line is big values in my mind im impressed
Yeah they seem good for the money, hopefully I can test more soon!
Interesting, not seen that kind of nail gun before. Skil unit looks quite flexible and certainly more compact than the Milwaukee. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I agree the Skil to me would be better for those odd locations. Thanks!
@Tools-Tested could you add the tool belt clip of the Skil onto that battery cover

Thats understandable, roll pins always seem to be in the worst spots lol. Its almost like they do it on purpose!
The masterforce is the old craftsman hammerhead but without the oscillating/pivoting head, the skil seems to be the next generation of it
I thought it looked familiar but didn't know for sure.
Just got skil from Lowes. $60 delivered! If I used one daily or weekly I would go with the Milwaukee but I may use the skil 4 or 6 jobs a year.
Nice! yeah thats a good value.

Ryobi is already doing it with the small 4v tool battery's, you charge them over USB C and they are bi directional.
Can these type of tools be used to knock out ball joints or chip concrete?
No not easily, someone made an adapter for the m12 but in reality its too small for air hammer jobs or sds bits.
Do we know if these can be used with air hammer attachments?
Sadly no, wish someone would build a cordless hammer which uses air hammer attachments.
The reason I will use it instead a nail gun is I can use a variety of choice of much heavier than 16 gauge Brad nail.
The Bostitch palm nailer works well if you happen to have the compressor fired up.
Yeah its probably faster...hmm maybe that's another video, (air Vs battery).
Yeah, the cord+ the hose + a power outlet or a generator with some petro.
For $60 I got Rigid palm pneumatic nailer. Cons: it is not cordless and needs compressor. Pros: if you already have compressor with long air hose, it is cheap, indestructible, very compact and very fast.
Yep very good point, the air versions are cheap and compact.
Is the master force still available?
Sadly I don't believe so, this must of been the last one when I bought it.
Id still prefer the skl to the millwauki because of its flexibility for me it is worth the few extra seconds...if i need something faster id just use a nail gun...
That Master Force has the same hammerhead logo as the old Craftsman, they must have bought the rights.

That Milwaukee has been out for 12 years. I bought mine in 2011-2012
the skill works best and is the best value what a no brainer
Yeah its a good value.
If skil puts a clip on that battery cap, it will increase the costing cost there for the tool will be a lot more expensive
They could absolutely do it without any increase in price. That clip costs them cents and they could modify the cap to accept the existing clip.
What about ryobi or craftsman?
Both are no longer made, the craftsman is identical to this master force, ryobi I can’t speak for.
The Milwaukee with a 2ah battery also costs twice as much as the Skil and cannot get to places that require some length to reach
Yep that Milwaukee is bulky which kinda defeats the point.
Is the MasterForce no longer available?
Yeah I think they discounted it.
@@Tools-Tested damn. I want an auto hammer but don’t really wanna spend $120 for the skill
Thanks Bro!
No problem!
I paid 95 usd for the skil kit, I got it for joist hangers
Yep should make that job a lot easier.
can those handle concrete nail?
I don't think they would very well, best to use a powder actuated hammer
Where can I buy the Skil?
Hi I bought mine from Amazon but it looks like they are currently out of stock.
Please see link in description
How did they compare with regards to impact to the hand? vibration trauma kills my hands

There's a YT video of a guy converting a Milwaukee nailer to a planishing hammer.
Weight is a plus and size not particularly important.
Yeah I seen that, would be cool if we see one from a OEM at some point.
