hey guys! it took so long for me to post an updated version, but I hope you like it! I made sure to put all the scenes that I missed.
as for not posting often, I don’t have an excuse, but I hope you understand. love you guys and make sure you suggest any ideas or videos that you want to watch. I’ll try my best to make them!
Fun fact: the Gaunt family (Voldemort’s lineage) who are descendants of Salazar Slytherin, only spoke in Parsletongue to each other when it was just them with no other company that couldn’t speak Parseltongue. The Gaunts were very prideful of their heritage.

The dueling scene with Harry and the snake I swear is the only time in the entire series that something caught Snape off guard.
Wonder if part of it was also some part of him realizing Harry had a part of Voldamort in him.
@@smiley4995 knowing Snapes interest in the dark arts from a young age despite him being ultimately good, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a hint of jealousy in that moment.
Also due to the fact the only other person/wizard he’s seen speak parseltongue is the dark lord, he knew Voldemort wasn’t dead at that moment. IMO
Rickman's face is phenomenal when Harry speaks Parseltongue. It 's a complete "oh fuck me" expression, and it's brilliant!

One thing I wish J. K. Rowling and the filmmakers did was incorporate this python later on in the series by having it be loyal to Harry for freeing it from the zoo and acting either as a spy for Harry or protect Harry while he was living at the Dursley’s.

That would’ve been cool but I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was A. Captured again and put back in its habitat, B. Made it to Brazil, or C. Just roaming around living it’s new free life and no real way for Harry to find him. Though I personally would’ve had him voiced by Antonio Banderas in the films if it were a different situation

It’s really weird to realize that the creepy voice in the walls in Chamber of Secrets is the Basilisk talking. We just hear it as English because it’s from Harry’s point of view

In the Philosopher stone we didn't know about parseltongue yet so the people who only watched the movies would have been confused
It made sense to have it be from Harrys perspective. He knows what he is saying. In the Dueling Club scene, we hear him speaking from the point of view from the spectators

I.. haven't watched HP yet.. it was available on Netflix at one point but I hadn't read the books and I wanted to first so I'm going to buy the books read them then watch the movies, (record) and maybe even get them on CD/DVD so I can have them forever. Also I don't think this is rubbish

Honestly, when you think about it, that poor basilisk must've been VERY hungry from being asleep for so long. Hence the 'i want to kill( or hunt)' attitude.

All the other snakes were told to kill Harry or were owned by someone else. The one in the duel was still used in an attempt to beat Harry. The first snake was passive because it had no reason to be aggressive towards him.
There's a theory that the snake Harry freed is the same snake that serves Voldemort and tries to kill him. They are the same species if you look close.

One of the very few times where Snape was utterly shocked (if not terrified) was in the snake scene. It is *the scene* for me - it always comes to mind when I think "Harry Potter films"
I actually really hate the depiction of snakes as "evil" creatures in media, and since HP is so incredibly popular, that depiction reaches a lot of people.
That said, speaking this language would be cool, because then I could talk to my snakes lol

Serpents have been seen as evil since the dawn of mankind. Satan took the form of a serpent to deceive Adam and Eve, so it’s not new at all. Also if you look up parseltounge on the Harry Potter wiki, it talks about how snakes were always known to be associated with evildoers in the wizarding world.

Something I love about Harry Potter is the layers of subtext, which is sorely lacking in 2023.
Snape is glaring at Potter the first time he sees him. But we do not learn till much later that it is because he loved Harry’s mother and Harry has her eyes.
We see a horcrux in the second book, but we don’t know what a Horcrux is until the sixth book.
Harry speaks in parseltongue from the beginning. Does not realize until Goblet of Fire that this is why he could hear the basilisk as it moved around the castle.
Damn. The color palette really went downhill after Chamber of Secrets.

Parseltoungue could be used on all reptile, not just snakes. The basilisk is a legless lizard, not a snake (yes, those are a thing, look them up).

I would like to have seen Harry using Parseltongue more in the stories. When they were hiding in the forests he cold have called to the snakes and had them look out for others, he could have gotten information from the snakes about the Hogwarts Castle, any number of things. He could even have had a spy network of snakes.

well, the Chamber's entrance was just a trapdoor until Hogwarts installed a new plumbing system, it just so happens that one of the plumbing crew was Corvonus Gaunt, a member of the Gaunt family that had not gone insane due to inbreeding yet, Corvonus knew about the Chamber and could speak Parseltongue, but he didn't open the Chamber or unleash the basilisk within, instead, he was the one who meddled with the plumbing system and created that sink in the bathroom that would only open if a person spoke in Paraseltongue, the modifications Corvonus secretly made to the pipes allowed the basilisk to slither around Hogwarts undetected when Tom Riddle Junior opened the Chamber

So i've never really understood; in Chamber of Secrets where Harry hears the voice, who's voice can he hear? Is it Voldemort's is it Salazar Slytherin's or is it the Basilisk itself?

The first time we saw him speaking with the snake was the translation. What would've looked like if someone saw him speaking the language? We didn't understand why, until the second movie. We all heard how it was, and it was creepy sounding.

It was such a bad choice from JK Rowling putting Ron to speak in parseltongue because it was supposed to be a magic non-teachable language... Also, producers didn't even bother in the movie to put Ron (12:37) to reproduce the same sounds Harry did in the Chamber of Secrets movie (6:42). Lame.
The thing Ron said wasn’t supposed to be “open”/“open up” or whatever Harry said. It’s just something random Harry said in his sleep, Ron doesn’t know what it means. Also, just because someone can be born a parselmouth doesn’t mean that it is unteachable.
