But hey that NEVER going to happen. Maybe some of the later TOMY mega sets are more awesome than this set. I know thats always an argument point.
What's more amazing is that you were able to purchase the set complete. That track is basically indistinguishable from Brio or other generic track once it's separated from the packaging. Seeing that gets me excited and makes me want to continue my collection of early TWR toys.

Strictly speaking this version with the 4 sheds and the water tower and Ellsbridge Platform is called the Island of Sodor Playboard. The 1992/3 track is basically impossible to distinguish from Brio track out-of-box, outside of unique items like the turntable, Arched Stone Bridge, etc. A lot of it thus probably gets sold as Brio or unlabeled
You should make an episode where Thomas becomes a Thomas Wood item and infects the other engines. Then have the remaining engines try to stop the plague

I think somewhere I have my old track from this era...I remember getting out pretty much just as they were introducing the "clickety clack track" as the new big thing. I think, but can't say for sure, that I have that tunnel too, and I know I have similar shed...different roof though...turn those roofs sideways, cut to fit, then stretch the bottom out to fit and add a peg and ball on one if the short sides. So many fond memories, playing with Thomas and cheap Brio on the same set...

Sadly, Thomas Wooden Railway stuff like this is being discontinued and replaced by a cheaper, inferior version called Thomas & Friends Wood. I would recommend stocking up on as many classic items as you can before they become hard to find. Thanks for helping keep Thomas alive! :)
I bought a set from craigslist... the 1997 roundhouse set. Came glued on a table with a old sticker that said "Thomas Wooden Railway System". With a 1993 playboard. (Island of Sodor I think). There's a sticker on the roundhouse that hints that it was once a display table in a toy store or something. KidsToysPlay has a video showcasing a table similar to mine. Very cool. Still looking for that black tree. Unless it's a 100 piece set exclusive. I must ask, are you going to do a review of the 2002 Roundhouse Set?
TWR: "the 100-piece set actually" fits my "A Day at The Works" play board The 100-piece set: *shows it already having that play board before* Me: [visible confusion] All jokes aside, I think that's because the "A Day at The Works" just so happens to be the 100-piece play board, my guess is that Learning Curve had a bunch of play board in that same design, and since they most likely didn't had the budget to make a complete new play board design, they added the 100-piece play board with the A Day at The Works set
The reason this didn't include the playboard already is because the 1993 version isn't technically the 100-Piece Set but rather its immediate precursor, the 10*9*-piece Island of Sodor Playboard set. Which despite the name, apparently didn't include the actual board that went by the same name. To quote the 1993 yearbook: "99400 Island of Sodor Playboard (board only) sold separately" As for TWR's "A Day at the Works" set having the playboard, that must have been a separately-purchased board included by the prior collector (or it was an ex-display) "A Day at the Works" did not come with a board, but rather the Playmat with Pond.

Hi there and thanks for watching! Honestly, eBay is going to be your best bet for rare and retired items like the A Day at the Works set. Common toy stores like Toys R Us don't carry old items anymore because their job is to sell the new stuff. If you have any hobby or train stores near you, I would recommend checking those out as well because they can sometimes have discontinued sets and engines that they never ended up selling. Otherwise, eBay is the best place by far. Hope this helps! :)
ThomasWoodenRailway Hi, my local hobby shop only sells electric Thomas train's, which I collect too, but he is even trying to stop carrying those. I have about 30 of the original trains and track that were recalled a number of years ago. I even bought the Day at the Works set 10 years ago, unfortunately my mom doesn't remember where she put it. I had a wonderful childhood of playing with my Thomas trains, a lot of mine were bought between 1999 - 2002. Back to eBay, are there certain key words you type in that find what you are looking for or do you just start typing in certain years for certain items?
All three of those engines in used condition aren't worth too much as they are common on eBay. A new in box three-pack of those engines, however, would be worth much more money.

I think I might have some early nineties trains and buildings up in my attic some where.
My grandparents bought me this when it came out, and I collected everything through around age 12. It's all in my parents basement in tubs.
