    Loved your video. My husband and I hunted that same area for 8 seasons, averaged 3 to 4 ounces per season. Ended up with a little over 2 troy pounds of gold. Our largest nugget was 1-1/4 oz and we know there is a lot more gold out there. So we wish you the very best in your adventure!! Mike and Connie they'll know us in camp.

      Thanks for stopping by! Haha sorry about the teary sections. I’m not good at faking feelings or even hiding them and in turn, words often come out with a bit of my soul stuck to them. I often hesitate to post content because of this but I’m getting more comfy with it. It’s raw and it’s real. It’s me. I put so much effort, energy and passion into everything leading up to any given thing that I find in this world and when that moment happens, it’s the truest feeling of happiness in this life for me. There isn’t even a monetary value in those moments. My soul just feels free, complete, accomplished and most of all, alive. Silly moments of happiness so grand that when you think about it, controlling human emotion should suddenly feel more impossible than seeing what I’m seeing in my hand at that moment in time. Just wait till I really catch one on film in the raw! You’ll see a man just go all kinds of silly! Hahah! I had to trim that clip at the end because of language and a few minutes of me walking circles. I couldn’t put y’all through it all. 😂🤪
      Good luck to ya out there! 💪⚒️

No matter how big or small videos may be, the wealth of knowledge that can be passed on to help others , extremely valuable. That's what is missing from today's generations. The sustainable things are not being passed along because people don't sit and talk and share anymore. Keep up the fine work. Please!!!

    Great video.
    I prospected in California gold country with my best friend and partner for years. We used a couple of 4" dredges w/ hookah gear. Then my friend got stomach cancer and passed on, so I lost my passion for prospecting. Didn't seem the same anymore.
    Fast forward a decade and I found myself living in a RV in Arizona and have thought about picking up a detector, the Minelab 1000 to be exact.
    The problem is, desert detecting is a completely different animal than underwater dredging and it's something I know very little about. Sure, I watched the usual videos on the subject and even reached out to a couple people with questions but got no reply. My biggest concern was dropping a grand on a detector and never seeing a return. Seems most of everything I watched was people finding what I call specs. It would take thirty or forty of them to even make a pennyweight let alone an ounce. It just seemed out of reach.
    Your video is an inspiration and I think I would buy the detector if someone spent a day or two showing me the ropes and what to listen for.
    Finding gold without water. imagine that! If you're near Q maybe we could meet up for a day. Half the year I'm between Yuma and Havasu.
    I don't care about your secrets, I'm just reaching out for experience.

    • @waywardwoodward
      @waywardwoodward  Рік тому

      Howdy! Thanks for tuning in! I will say, it’s tough! You will find more trash than gold and that’s just a fact of metal detecting in general that most people don’t like to accept or don’t realize before hand. It’s no different than a relic hunter going out and wishing for Morgan’s and walking liberty’s every target. It just don’t happen like that unless you’re really lucky, or you have done your research to put you on that kinda spot, and even then I’d be hard pressed to see more glory than trash, but it does happen. I’ve had some stellar days I never could have imagined. Ole Q is covered in tin foil from camping folks over the years and it can be pretty tough some days. I called my monster the “tin foil finder 1000” down that way. But, the gold is still out there too. Some days I think I make it sound and look too easy though. As for the Monster, now is a good time of the year to find a used one and that’ll save ya a buncha money if you go that route. I see em for around $500 used lately. Never know, some of that old Cali ground in your head might yield some gold with a Monster. It took a whole year of solid work and extreme persistence for me to get where I have with mine. I spent more time researching and reading geology than anything, and I’d say that’s more or less what’s gotten me on the gold other than just hours and hours of being out there stomping and swinging the ground. Some days I even had to dig 4’ down and detect as I dug, just to find anything. But, with persistence comes more chance for luck. My biggest nuggets I had to dig for, but I found em with the monster. Diggin and detecting as I go. Down in Q area there is still lots of gold to find. I wanted to get back down there for some swinging this season because I just sold some gold and got the GPX 6000 but my Jeep may be too tired for the trip. I’m not sure if you have been over to Miners Depot in Q but that’s the place to go for gold stuff around town. They have club claims (I found good gold on em) for $20 and you might meet some folks who could show you the ropes on the monster. There’s usually someone kicking around on the Middle Camp claims with one and most folks are friendly. However, I will not encourage anyone to buy a setup, as I’ve done that and the people now blame me for their lack of gold, but the dang thing ain’t hardly left their rv or they haven’t swung anything other than the ground ten feet from where they parked for ten minutes and called it a full day. It takes serious effort, just as dredging, panning, sluicing or any other way of finding gold and the obvious stuff is just about worked out of most places. Sure is a lot easier on the back, but gold ain’t never easy! It’s out there though and I’m not the only one finding it. As I speak, prolly twenty nuggys have been pulled outa the ground already by a detectorist somewhere. Probably in Australia haha! The mother land! Most of all, it’s a rather cheap adventure and the time out there on the land is worth it all in my mind. I’m a fella who could only dream of having the money for dredges and stuff like that. Thousands and thousands of dollars into that kinda stuff real fast, plus permits and everything else. This was the cheapest and easiest way for me to try my hand and live a dream that itched my soul. Anywho, gold luck to ya in any direction you may take!

      @@waywardwoodward As soon as I saw your nugget case, I knew the work you've put in. Moving boulders is work no matter if it's in a river or on land. Although I think the water is easier and helps. Rock nets, cables, wenches and a six-foot prybar were used daily. Then there's the time, lots and lots of time.
      Little story for you. One day I was working a ledge about 20 feet deep. I had checked the dredge for color the day before and it was good. After being down there for about four hours my partner came down to relieve me and this is what he found.
      I began to focus on a pocket and knew if I could get to the back of it, I would find bedrock gold. The ledge was a gravel bar that had been cemented together over time, with boulders the size of Mack truck wheels. I managed to drill through it with the nozzle and made a tunnel. When my buddy came down, I was in the tunnel past my butt and all he could see was my legs sticking out with the wall of boulders above me. He grabbed my legs and pulled me out. I wasn't stuck, I was lost. Even if a boulder had shifted and only pinned my arm, the only thing he could do was fill the dredge with fuel so my air didn't run out and go get help. In reality I wouldn't have made it out. Aw yes, the fever. I've had it.
      Be careful in the holes and caves out there, it's not worth your life.
      I believe I will go to the Quartzsite gold show coming up. Maybe Minelab has some offers. About the only thing I can fit in my motorhome is a detector and a rock hammer. I already have the hammer🙄

    • @waywardwoodward
      @waywardwoodward  Рік тому +1

      @@rvfreedomtrail4290 yep! It’s only awesome if ya live to show the gold! I personally don’t tunnel but I know lots of folks who do. Quartzsite up in Middle Camp it’s about the only way to get to the good stuff. Most of my time is spent surface swinging but when I get an area that gives a good sign of gold or I think there is more down deeper, I’m not scared to dig down a few feet and see what’s at the bottom. My last dig was 10’x75’ and I was down about 4-5 feet. The end clip on this video was a few days after I started the hole and I had just pulled the boulder ahead a few feet with my Jeep and a chain. Just dig and toss everything behind ya as you go, detecting along the way. Bucket off the overburden and just toss it behind. My back isn’t a fan of that stuff but it got me a bucket list nuggy so I can’t complain much! Now I’m just looking for the next spot that tells me to dig a big ole hole! Good luck at the gold show!

      Awesome Woodward! I'm so glad I found your channel, I just received my Gold Monster yesterday and getting ready for heading your way for the winter! You restored my confidence and a whole lot more. I live in Utah and hopefully I will get a chance to meet up with you. Once again damn good video without all the BS! Good luck buddy your kicking ass!
