I maintain my son's 2013 Malibu with a 2.5L NA engine. This video gives me confidence that I can remove and reinstall the throttle body even though I'm an inexperienced DIY'er. The Amazon links are very helpful. Thank you for your clear instructions in this and all your other videos!
Top shelf video. There aren't a lot of moving around, shaky, and dark video shots. We could definitely learn cars and production from watching your content.
Can you make a new video on 2014 Chevy Malibu LT showing exactly which screws to remove (POV) please? My throttle body needs cleaning bc my Malibu is starting to kick/hesitate..
Hey, I took mine off but it wouldn't close all the way after cleaning it, did I not clean it right and do you need to calibrate it when you put back on? Thanks and nice video.
Did u clean it on the car or off the car? Was the electrical still connected if on the car? I believe i mentioned the calibration steps but theyre just a few turn on and idle for a few then turn off steps
@@backyardchevy328 I removed it like you did in the video, but before I did anything I disconnected the battery. Mine is a 2015 Chevy Malibu Ls, the throttle body is in the same spot. Thanks for responding.
@@backyardchevy328 I believe it happened after, I'm not so sure, because there was oil gunk right where it was opened so I assumed cleaning that would close it but it didn't. But I'll check it again today during the day. I really don't want to buy another one but if I can't fix it then I have too.
The steps to calibrate it are: turn it on for 3 minutes, turn it off for 1 minute, turn it back on for 3 minutes, turn it off for 1 minute and that's it. it is right?
I change the mass air flow sensor after check engine light. Car was jerking some when taking off at lights, hesitation & just notice once changed it all was good. 48 hrs & then it through another engine light. P1101 .. AutoZone..recomend tal deice air intake ... Our filter was extremely dirty. Didn't find any leaks or. Blockage. Car is running fine. I changed air filter... But light still on ... Is there a way to reset? Can a really bad airfilter do this?? We homeless. Are car is our home. & no family so this really hitting us with money we've manage to save from doordashing.
To reset it..disconnect the negative terminal for 15-20 mins..p1101 could be many things yes from an air blockage but filter would have to be really really dirty..have u tried cleaning the maf sensor? If thats dirty it would also trigger that code..youve looked for air leaks so thats good u didnt find any..i would try cleaning the maf sensor..i got a video on that as well
@@backyardchevy328 i put in a new MAF. Before this bc it through a code before this one. I should of known to change filter you know how you don't listen to gut instincts. Well i didn't bc money tight. Won't do again. Through the code today & i changed the filter & 4 hrs later after driving around & multiple on /off's the light went off. :) so I'm hoping its fixed.

Wait a min!! Aint no way its that easy!? Lol The Chevy dealer saying my wifes car needs fuel injection and throttle body clenaing, and this is all they would do for 200 dollars!!?
I removed the throttle body snd cleaned it good. Replaced the gasket and put everything back. Now it won’t recalibrate (I’ve tried EVERYTHING) and now I have a lean code p0171 . I’m so frustrated
The intake tube clicked back on properly and locked in place? If it has a vacuum leak anywhere between the maf sensor and the throttle body it could cause all that
@@backyardchevy328 yes , everything replaced and secured. I was thinking it could be the gasket I replaced but I just don’t see how I could mess that up. It only goes in one way then bolted the TB back on over it. I removed it and checked even tried putting the old one back in. No dice. Had no codes before. Thought I was doing a good thing by doing some maintenance on the TB and now here I am 🤡
@@stephanie8327 maybe its something else thats causing the code, on the same 2.0t i had to replace a pcv tube because they tend to crack very commonly causing the same p0171 and maybe thats triggering the same code

Thanks for the video. It works, i just did that to my 2016 Malibu. Everything is good now, engine light gone. Thanks again.
Thats awesome! Great job🙂👍

2015 Malibu 2ltz is idling low while stopped like it’s wants to die. I’m sure this will fix the issue. Thank you for the video.
Did it fix it?
Hola !
Tengo problemas para quitar el tubo con rosca , que otra opción tengo ?
How easy was it to rotate to get the clips off???

Can you a video on cleaning a throttle body of Chevy Malibu 2014 step by step please
It would be the same process as long as its the same engine the 2.0t
I'll be using this video today . It looks hard to reach the malibu, unlike my tahoe
Yea that ones definitely harder to reach than the tahoe's...hopefully all goes well...good luck🙂👍
I did this today on a 2.5 liter, same year. No code, but would stall when idle at a light. This fixed the issue. 🚗
Thats awesome...so glad to hear it🙂👍
Mine is doing the same thing. No code but stalling, replaced the VTT solenoid and that did not fix it. Going to give this a try.
Thank you 🙏
