Norma - J. Sutherland Adalgisa - S. Hahn Pollione - H. Hoffmann Oroveso - D. Shanks Flavio - G. Tomlinson Clotilde - H. Borthwick Conductor - Richard Bonynge
Thank you for posting this!! I didn’t know that this Norma from 1985 was recorded! Joan sounds like she was in OUTSTANDING voice and I really like the subtitles and pictures in the video itself!
Thanks so much for posting. She was in tremendous voice in 1985: a glorious Indian summer. The Lucias at Covent Garden in April were astonishing to witness. I believe this Norma replaced an intended Esclarmonde, cancelled on cost grounds. Act II please.
with the splendid Sandra Hahn as Adalgisa (or Analgesic, nickname within the company) - she seemed to disappear after this, I often wonder what happened to her career? She was a great performer.
Amazing performance
This is just brilliant!!! I know only too well how long this sort of thing takes. Thank you so much for all the time that you put into it!!!

Thank you for time and effort to upload this performance...you are very much appreciated!
Dame Joan Sutherland singing Norma in 1985!
Fantastic...with 59 years old...and Caballé in 1985 as Norma?
Nothing... jejeje.
Magnífica. Grato.

Geez.... that last Eb! (Thanks for the narration, too. It is terrific.)
D-natural. But it’s a fantastic note!
Acto 2º please! Thanks
I think this one was done in the Concert Hall?
Bellini?
Yes.
