Maria Callas was one of a kind. Sometimes I listen to other singers , but when I go back to Maria Callas you realize how unique and wonderful she was, she was a world unto herself. One of a kind.
The timbre of her voice was so unique and beautiful and one wouldn't think she could hit those high notes, but she did. What a magnificent talent. She still blows my mind.
The first time I heard Maria Callas sing, I cried. It was a recording; She sang: “Casta diva” from Belini’s Norma. I in no way, apologize for my crying. This woman touches your emotions so deeply.

No one EVER has had a voice like her. My parents listened to her when I was young. I thought it truly was an angel singing, like a prayer. So Blessed to have the technology to listen to this ✨
One year, she sang 'in voce Virginis' several stanzas of the "Lamentations at the Burial of Christ" -- at Ascension Greek Orthodox Church, Oakland, CA. -- There wasn't a dry eye in the place -- about 1,000 attending, I'd guess. I doubt any recording was made! How do you record Perfection?
Maria Callas, the greatest opera singer of all times. Her singing moves me to tears. Easy. I spent an hour looking for her grave at Per Lachaise Cemetery in Paris and finally I found in the catacombs a small plate with her name and dates (birth/death). Amazing. Love you Maria.

Her life was a true opera. She came out as a chubby little girl, and turned into one of the most beautiful things in the history of humanity. In the height of her career, she fell in love, and had her beautiful heart broken. She died alone and lonely. I am alone; I am lonely; but I have her magnificent voice to give me a reason to explain my tears to others.

What makes her (for me) different is not the beauty of the voice itself (Tebaldi might have more beautiful voice) but, I would say, the feeling for drama combined with phantastic feminine sensuality she expresses in her singing. That makes her a part of the great unsurpasible trio Caruso, Shaliapin, Calas.

I've thought nothing of opera. I am a choir student, i'm an alto... and good grief, Maria's tone and how she hold and belts practically every note, and is spontaneously successful despite her passing is incredible.. is unreal. I love opera, she's also so interesting to learn about. On my own time I listen to her music. I adore her, she is an angle

actually, Madame Butterfly is one of the many stories in operas that are so much against women ... I actually really hate the story. In operas it is always the women who suffer from selfish men behaviour and societies supporting this. Last summer I saw Madame Butterfly and my friend and I we were both so angry with this story - I guess the interpretation must have been excellent because we were so upset with this horrible story... 😆

my introduction to Maria Callas was Vissi d'arte. it was absolutely the most moving version I've heard. it was so powerful and moving in every way. I simply couldn't stop searching for and listening to all her other works after that. she wasn't just singing, she was delivering everything, the emotions, the characters, the story, etc. it was indescribable! she might not have the most lovely voice, but her artistry is unmatched. her dedication to her roles are so complete. she can take you right into the story with her singing. you feel like you are experiencing what the character is experiencing through her incredible performance. her singing doesn't dissipate after I finished listening. it follows me for days. but it's not an addiction, it's simply something so beautiful that our minds won't let go.

In the height of her career, she fell in love, and had her beautiful heart broken. She died alone and lonely. I am alone; I am lonely; but I have her magnificent voice to give me a reason to explain my tears to others.

There is no one who poured such emotion into the aria repertoire touching the listener as she did. To me she defines the standard of each one she sang. She gave her all to her audience at a great cost. Who else can so often move the listener to tears putting us in touch with the depth of our emotions? Maria Callas was my introduction into what opera meant. Through her singing I found a new world.

The greatest of all sopranos. What makes her (for me) different is not the beauty of the voice itself (Tebaldi might have more beautiful voice) but, I would say, the feeling for drama combined with phantastic feminine sensuality she expresses in her singing. That makes her a part of the great unsurpasible trio Caruso, Shaliapin, Calas.
Tebaldi was completely wooden, stiff, and lacked meaningful range.

actually, Madame Butterfly is one of the many stories in operas that are so much against women ... I actually really hate the story. In operas it is always the women who suffer from selfish men behaviour and societies supporting this. Last summer I saw Madame Butterfly and my friend and I we were both so angry with this story - I guess the interpretation must have been excellent because we were so upset with this horrible story... 😆

my introduction to Maria Callas was Vissi d'arte. it was absolutely the most moving version I've heard. it was so powerful and moving in every way. I simply couldn't stop searching for and listening to all her other works after that. she wasn't just singing, she was delivering everything, the emotions, the characters, the story, etc. it was indescribable! she might not have the most lovely voice, but her artistry is unmatched. her dedication to her roles are so complete. she can take you right into the story with her singing. you feel like you are experiencing what the character is experiencing through her incredible performance. her singing doesn't dissipate after I finished listening. it follows me for days. but it's not an addiction, it's simply something so beautiful that our minds won't let go.
Maria Callas is an outstanding opera singer of all time! She is the best performer of opera arias, and there is no one better than her yet. Bravo, Maria! You're really the best!

The most beautiful voice I've ever heard. I discovered her from movies that featured her lovely voice, then did an internet search. Maria is my favorite. I play her CD's all the time.

Es cierto, todos tenemos distintas maneras de apreciar el Arte, pero no logro entender que hayan más de 1300 personas a quién no les ha gustado, éste video, donde una de las mejores Sopranos de todos los tiempos, canta con el alma, con una técnica extraordinaria. En lo personal, si no fuera de mi agrado, prefiero un silencio respetuoso antes de opinar en contra. Es más equilibrado, más humano, más fraterno. *María Callas* habrá una sola, es única e irrepetible, como cada ser humano. Los invito a reflexionar sobre ésto. Saludos desde *CHILE*
