Mandela in Ethopia

  • In 1962 Former President Nelson Mandela secretly travelled to Ethiopia for military political and spiritual training under the name of David Motsamai. Haile Selassie's Ethiopian army, on the orders of Haile Selassie himself first trained and armed Nelson Mandela in his struggle against apartheid South Africa. On the personal orders of his Majesty, the Ethiopian Colonel in charge of Mandela's military training gave him a gun with which he was to bring down the ignoble and unhappy apartheid regime still thriving at that time in South Africa. Mandela went back to South Africa to continue his struggle. The rest is history. One of the things that Madiba recently learned is that while he was in Ethiopia , the aparheid government knew where he was and had paid his menders to kill him.
We are joined now by Captain Guta Dinka who not only looked after Madiba while he was in Ethiopia but was ordered to kill Madiba. He is with Prof Mamo Muchie who will do the translation for us.

I have listened his Amharic Interview in Ethiopia, it is a long story. The interpreter does well. coz it’s difficult for 78 years old man to tell the history precisely & to the point on live TV.
This man was among many of the fruit of Ethiopianism ideology. In fact Ethiopia has been striving to help other African countries to get out of colonization. And Col. Mengistu has also helped Zimbabwe a lot. We supported Mandela’s struggle for his people. He did it! We proud of it.
But Ethiopia is paying the price now; Westerns put one minor Ethnic dictator on power, made Ethiopia landlocked & people severing, fly out till now..
According to Col. Mengistu , Mandela hasn’t visited Ethiopia coz he told to Col. he didn’t want to see a divided Ethiopia made by rulling party( TPLF) for the past 23 yrs. For your information the Only man who agreed with white man to coordinate z assassination was belongs to current gov’t ethnic group (TPLF).

In the same way Johannes Greef who let Arthur Goldreich to escape in 1963 was paid by the ANC in 1994. South Africa should also give Captain Guta Dinka honorary citizenship alongwith the amount he declined. The amounts stolen by Zuma and his acolytes can be channelled to reward this officer for his exemplary and remarkable character of refusing to kill Madiba

The captain deserve a better interpreter, Mucee is not giving him a chance to speak. Also, Muce made a mistake that the gun given to Madiba by General Taddasa Biru was confiscated by the Apartheid government. That is not true. Mandela buried the gun in backyard where he used to live.

There are two important things. Interpreting is is not translation. There are two related but different concepts in terms of professionalism. While Interpreting is a profession that conveying oral or sign-language communication, translation is the act of conveying written language to other. In this context, Mr Mammo served as an interpreter. But there is no clear and visible professionalism. Mr Mammo was talking from his point of view, by saying " I think", without clarification, while Mr Guta simply sitting in front of us as a statue. There are also a big mistake of facts: as we all knew, the gun given to Madiba, by General Taddasa Biru, was not confiscated by the Apartheid government. Mandela buried the gun in backyard where he used to live. The person might be knowledgable by another profession but incompetent and unqualified in an Interpreting profession.
