What a gorgeous and criminally underappreciated tune. The same can be said for Ferry's entire catalogue. Subtlety and refinement are rare commodities these days, and Ferry has always lit the way in this regard. Love love love him. See Roxy live at all costs. Life changing!
It's the Eno touch to it. Plus that Roxy cow-poke thing that Bryan hits on with like what. 3 songs? If there is something & Prairie rose. You know what I mean. From 99-2002..a different time. He hit his moodiest with 'Where or When' from As time goes by. Anyway, gorgeous young ladies.
Not even done listening to this ineffable ditty for the first time and already one of my favorites… describes the human condition and the pickle we all find ourselves in in this topsy-turvy world… so heartfelt and true… just incredible!! ‘ I thought’ , indeed! 😮
The greatest of them all - brilliant productivity throughout all of these exciting years, a true artist. Thank you Bryan and to everyone who has collaborated with you from the Roxy Music days to this very moment. Bravo, you helped/help make Life worth living ! 🤗
"Your streetcar named Desire... ....Subtitles when we speak... ....The flame within the fire.. Smothered in Gold." This is one of my all time favorites. Amazing lyric, so beautiful, and I love the huanting sweet sonic that Brian Eno contributes. Thanks for posting this!! Buy this record people!
Bryan Ferry has the uncanny ability of creating the simplist song then adding textures and nuances that make it mesmerizing and capitvating. Truly a remarkable talent. Chris Spedding's spaghetti western guitar works perfectly here and he ad libs a bit at the end , not present in the studio version. I agree , Brian Eno's airey background treatments on the studio version are superior but Lucy Wilkins does an adequate job here.
leonakita, I agree and that same deft perfection is in my most loved Bryan Ferry video: ua-cam.com/video/gazP_kXMwJs/v-deo.html With Colin Good and Chris Spedding, Bryan permorms a beautiful rendition of Goodnight Irene.
This was from Frantic. A brief respite where Ferry found some lyric writing and musical variation from Avalon.. Chris Spedding on guitar and The Great Paul Thompson on drums. Fabulous.
They wont bring You anywhere neither me...there is noone seeing what we see or feel..empty space and an evil dancing..stay just awake ,..the lost waltc..is just a perfection crawling around our love
Olde-time rhyming Gospel favorites are what I'm after. Sweaty pews and planes possessing “the gliding capabilities of a tool box” (John Lear) are what I'm after. Wine that inebriates children after the first couple of gallons is what I seek. I have a dog. He was given to me. I feed him. He eats. I walk him. He pisses on tires, poles, trees, weeds, and on the legs of end-tables. I'm thinking of giving him to somebody. I'm forever thinking.
"A deficiency of transport and storage proteins can lead to copper deficiency in the same way as low dietary intake. Copper deficiency is widespread. I regard copper deficiency as the main cause of grey or white hair. For adults a daily intake of 2-3 m.g. is generally recommended but intakes of less than 1 m.g. are very common. Unfortunately there is no reliable test to see if we have enough copper. Blood tests are totally unreliable, and also hair tests are uncertain." -- Dr. Joel Wallach
COULD BE DONUT {Black presentiments!} Jim became an intestinal engineer during that first year working at the donut shop. He studied hard & after the first year he could make any donut with his eyes closed which he often did because he fell asleep on the job regularly which he seldom was, regular, what with the constipation & all. His hobbies included tapestry & Jew-baiting.

'I Thought' from the `Frantic' album is the only track on the album with the help of Brian Eno. Martin, Portobello, Dublin.
Totally agree, that jam near the end...sweet!
Check out Ferry's remixes on SoundCloud. From Olympia onward.

Glad I found this. Always one of my favorite songs. Wish there was a better live version.
Amazing. Still puts all his peers to shame. A truly rare example of real talent.
Sometimes I think that this is his best song.
I read something 20 years ago I never forgot ; "only two rock stars have the class to wear wristwatch, Bryan Ferry and David Bowie."
agreed but I can name one more - Robert Palmer
I absolutely agree..BTW, I worked on the film set of Zardoz in Ireland all those years ago...

Sounds like Slave to Love set to the music of Eno's "I'll Come Running To Tie Your Shoe"
For the records....
This is Roxy Music's Frantic Tour
I think this was recorded 10th September 2002 at Palais Des Beaux Arts, Brussels.

Three people with no clue of what good music is! What's not to like......

That brown haired female background singer was his girlfriend for a short time….. she had all the luck…. 😜

The song is OK. However, I feel that I must point out; there are a couple of commenters on here that have no connection with reality.
And for some reason, they are compelled to post multiple entries composed entirely of gibberish.
And your comment was completely unhelpful. Thanks for nothing. Just enjoy the music.
w0mbles who asked you?? shut your piehole, get a life, and enjoy the music.
frank waters You sound like a very bitter person. Relax.
If you don't like then clear OFF !

I ain't neo-modern & I seldom follow trends so quit fricasséeing fat
parrots & sparrows for me after I ordered a dozen barbecued wrens.
Just doesn't work live. Not a song I ever liked....sounds like Enya.
Love it! Sounds like Texas y'all!
Get fucked
Nooo, no so good, no very cool, really, "carmin desire"?

Go wash your ears.
Don't love yourself at Burger King! They got cameras everywhere!
