Wrt. the tour, I agree with you completely, when I receive my time travel machine, the Paris 97 concert is definitely top of my list of concerts I'll travel back to. 😄 I'm still hoping that some day we'll see a video release of the COMPLETE concert, which is my Phil Collins holy grail. Anyway, I love this song, I think it's by far the best song on the album, and probably in my top 5 all-time PC songs.
It’s a very catchy number, uplifting and fun. Perfect Phil 👊🏻
It was aight. Lorenzo, The Same Moon, and Just Another Story were the stand out tracks on DITL for me. Maaaaybe Love Police too.
If Dance into the light had come out in 1989, it would sold millions but by 1996, Phil had a hard time getting radio airplay and was past his prime as a top 40 artist, sadly. I was rooting for this song and album back then but it never put Phil back on the mainstream map.
I wish I had too, but I'd only seen the But Seriously tour. I love this album. Might be my second favorite because of how "live" it sounds.
This was the most disappointing release for me.
The album just did flow to me and I’d rank it as he lowest (other than Going Back).
However, live it was wonderful. The DITL tour was my favourite show and probably the best gig I have ever been too (I saw PC first on NJR and then 11 times subsequently) . The setlist had the new stuff, the hits and album tracks.
I heard on the radio that tickets went on sale over a year before the concert. We went to Earls Court in London (no longer exists) only to find out we were a couple of rows from the front and the concert was ‘in the round’. It’s a shame gig was never released on DVD in its full form. It was sensational.
I find now that for DITL it’s better dipped in and out off. Rather than to play to straight through. Each song has more chance to shine in that way of listening.
This album, I lije it very much, because Both sides is not a good album is a littke dark and Dance in too the light is funy.
Both Sides, Phil was in full ego & breakdown mode & hurt the album so much by his arrogance of not wanting any other musician on it.
Phil quit on Mike and Tony for this garbage? Worst career mistake he ever made. No one cared anymore. I'm a Phil fan, but I never forgave him.
