Exactly, fights like Hagler Hearns in 85 you wouldn't see today, that level of skill and intensity and Bert Cooper was in several wars against Moorer and Holyfield and this bout with Mercer. Good call Jeffrey..
What? The old-timers back then were saying the fighters were wusses because they only fought once a year, didn't fight 15 rounds (not fair since that wasn't their fault,) and b¡tched about money when they were living in mansions.
Bert Cooper fought everyone 😂 heard he use to to party all night and drink with women the night before fights 😂 guy most likely showed up for a check 90,% of the time but I tell you what when there was a belt up for grabs he showed up to win, he would have been a champion if he was more disciplined
Sure ; Cooper didn’t break anything , instead he smashed a nerve in mercer’s cheek , maybe jaw. That was in first round or two .. then proceeded to fight for ten rounds 😳. There’s “ tough” ... and there’s TOUGH 😳
RIP Bert, tough as nails and never in a dull fight🥊
Didn't know he passed
90s era best.
Living Legend Mercer god bless u bro.
Rip Bert Cooper
If only every fighter gave his all like Bert Cooper. Wasn't super talented but made up for it with a lot of heart!
These two guys were tough as nails with chins of granite huge hearts great fighter's toe to toe slugfest !
Until big george came along and pity Cooper
They were basically hitting each other with power punches for twelve rounds. They barely threw any jabs. What a brutal fight.
@@sdpino5229Yeah, but Big George was superhuman. Rumor has it, he still is.
Finally some heavyweight action
Very good heavyweight battle. 2 warriors. Boxing used to be on channels. 2 -4 and 7. Those days were great. I never see much good fights on tv anymore
Amazing fight
Two championship level warriors
Great fight. Love both fighters
Tremendous fight.
Bert floored Holyfield. Something Neither Tyson or Mercer could
Not even Lennox Lewis
Not even Foreman
that's one hell of an achievement!
When men were men.

Brutal!
It's hard not to wonder how Cooper's career might have gone had he not had a drug problem.
I remember watching this broadcast live I miss great fights on network tv
They're just throwing power punches almost non stop. These guys were tough as nails and the stamina it takes to do that.

Grandioso combate unos de los mejores de todos los tiempos gracias
Brain damage occurred here!
Damn I've never seen a jaw that swollen :O DATS GOTTA HOYT!!!
Two gritty, hard men in that ring
did Ray get his jaw or cheek bone broken? Ray's face (left side) is badly swollen at the end of the fight. Anybody know what happened?
Sure ; Cooper didn’t break anything , instead he smashed a nerve in mercer’s cheek , maybe jaw. That was in first round or two .. then proceeded to fight for ten rounds 😳.
There’s “ tough” ... and there’s TOUGH 😳
why do they keep talking about Mercer's cheek it is Jaw that was broken not cheek.
Broken blood vessel was all.
Great fight but the scoring by the judges was terrible.
Just to let potential viewers know: vid starts with unnecessary preamble then action starts with 35” of first round to go ie no ring intro etc !! 🙄
I was convinced after watching Bert Cooper and many fights that he had nothing but bone between his ears
00:42
Neck exercise?
Had to hurt Ray the way Cooper kept hitting on the ridiculously swollen jaw!
Roberts looks like he is 60
War they were both ready good barney
Mercer should’ve & Cooper could’ve. Mercer was greater but Cooper was certainly great to have weathered that & other storms.
Imagine if Mercer had a decent trainer and had actually learned how to box.
He's a gold medalist. It's just his style of willing to bang it out.
Marc Roberts was 29 in this video?lolol... looks more like 49.
🖒🤠
RAY LOOKED LIKE HE WANTED TO HUMP BERT
ummm looks like Tyson,,,, see it,,?
Bert cooper has the black trunks like Tyson and the trim as well
