- Point Blank Music School presents an exclusive masterclass by artist and music innovator Richie Hawtin in which he will introduce his new model of mixer developed together with engineer Andy Rigby-Jones -designer of some of the most celebrated mixers- and Allen & Heath for his musical hardware project PLAYDifferently.
In his session, Hawtin will show his latest live setup and will explore the creative possibilities of this new product - offering a vision of how the digital and analogue worlds get even closer.
DJ and producer Richie Hawtin’s career has always been based around technology. He was one of the very first DJs who adopted the digital format and participated in the development Final Scratch, one of the first timecode systems to control audio files with vinyl records, as well as in the creation of Beatport, the popular digital download network for DJs. Richie Hawtin is currently member of the advisory board of Plus8 Equity, a venture capital firm specialized in music technology projects.
Richie Hawtin will be interviewed by Declan McGlynn, former Associate Editor of Future Music Magazine, freelance writer for DJ Mag and Resident Advisor, and Creative Content Manager for Point Blank Music School. McGlynn has over 10 years of experience as a music technology journalist and content creator.

i bought Model 1 a yera ago and it is STILL blowing my mind every time i play. anyone serious about techno must buy.
I'm not even convinced he knows what else to say about this mixer that will really make this mixer seem like it stands out from the crowd.

You guys don't get it. He wants to spread the word for his own product (of course! Why wouldn't he do so?! After all he worder for years1). He believes in the product and does it for the love of sound (there are WAY easier ways to make money). Comodo? Sera porque estuvo de gira antes, durante, y despues del Sonar? Es una persona ocupada, y ademas, es sabido que Richie se pone nervioso en el spotlight de cosas como masterclasses, etc. Also, the mixer is not designed for a noob/entry level DJ who plays on a Kontrol S4 and wants to do the leap into a new mixer to play in his/her room or at a hometown house party. He clearly targets the Clubs and high end DJs (e.g. loco Dice, Chris Liebing, etc.).
funny u mention the s4 because I just bought one. but I also got it for $200. I had an audio 8 and the x1 and a MacBook pro ( with Traktor 2, ableton 9, reason 7, massive, sylenth.....lol..yeah I was loaded up) but it got stolen because it was in a book bag and I had it down by leg and in a split second it was gone and never found. anyway- I just reassembled my technics 1200, a cdj-1000, and a 4 channel shitty bheringer mixer ( the lowest 4 channal mixer out there ). but I also have MIDI cords and plan on making the s4 into a MIDI controller with whatever I can do with the shift button on it, and Now the new update for Traktor to easily LINK Traktor/ ableton which I was doing before anyway. (and reason as a 3rd party plugin.) just need to buy a laptop again. I already tried it on a IMAC and can't wait for everthing to be complete. I bought the S4 because of the 3 things that it is. - a sound card, an x1 while also being a MIDI controller, and of course a mixer. .. but----- his mixer is like u said- not for someone who just started. I love what he put together. I mean- I mentioned a 4 channel mixer and then the S4 so I have 8 channels myself. but..not like this. good comment buddy.
