  • Over the past decade or so, AutoGuide has sampled several different tires from Sailun. Time and time again, we’ve always come away impressed with the quality for the price. Sailun Tires brought us to Homestead Miami, Florida to take part in a blind tire test featuring the TerraMax HLT.
The TerraMax HLT comes in a variety of sizes for wheels ranging from 15 inches in diameter all the way up to 22 inches. LT tires for dually rear axle configurations are also available. The tires come with a 60-month, 50,000 miles (80,000 km) warranty. And being a value tire, the TerraMax HLT is only about 66% of the cost compared to many top-tier well-known tires.

I've never used Sailun tires before but friends that do advised I check them out. One of them already has 75k miles on an all-season touring set that goes through all four seasons and typical abuse from big city roads. But being new to this, I'm still shopping around and comparing options out there for my Toyota Rav4.
I'll admit, the lower price point and value that Sailun provides has moved them higher up my list, especially since like most folks I will be doing regular city and highway driving. It would be a different story if I had some newish $50k+ performance SUV from a premium automaker.
Test driving a vehicle equipped with them might be my next step.

I no longer buy Michelin tires they last no longer than others I buy a brand name but mediocre they will last past the dry rot 😂

I had Michelin all seasons premium top of the line (PREMIER MXV4) passager tires proudly made in CANADA.
    Haha!
Great famous performance with a big famous name.
    It actually drives pretty good.
    Everything went south👎👇
In only 3 1/2 years dry rots with only about several hundreds of fine cracks lines on all sidewalls of all 4 tires smiling at me.
Brought it back to COSTCO with its famous posted black and white powerful warranty behind their beans counter.
They blamed me for all the dry rots and all the sidewalls cracks. With a big no no instore warranty claim or adjustment.
They asked me a double sword question of " Do you use tire shine or not?"
    Guess what ?
    I said " YES".
He replied back " You shouldn't be supposed to use any tire shine or rubber preservatives products ."
They give me Michelin's own representatives toll free number to deal with me.
The Michelin Co. representative tells me to go to one of their independent privately owned tire shop near me to get another evaluation.
Guess what? The same tire dressing question?
He ask me do I use any tire shine products again.
    I quickly realized it's a double-edged sword question.
If you use tire dressing products, it means you are using chemicals are a no-no for the Michelin tires.
If you said you don't use tire dressing products, which means you don't take care of your tires.
It ends up another no and forfeit warranty claim.
Then the Michelin tire rep, give me another tire shop located much farther away from this location for me to get another evaluation for warranty claim.
I realize this is just another RUNABOUT GAME Michelin played to F#*k me up to get rid of me from warranty claim.
No warranty claim on a 5 years FAMOUS Warranty.
I will never look at MICHELIN tires again after this HALL OF SHAME GAME 🎮 they played on consumers like me.
    I paid!

I don’t think you know what the meaning of a double edged sword is… it means something both good and bad. Something that is beneficial but can bite you in the ass if you’re not careful. An ability that is also a curse. The question isn’t a double edged sword, it’s a catch 22.
So what did the second guy say when you said you didn’t use tire shine products? You realized something, but what did you realize? Because tire shine isn’t a rubber protectant or preservative, it’s mostly an appearance enhancer that possibly has some UV protection. But anything with a petroleum distillate in it isn’t protecting rubber, and while silicone containing products might not rot tires I dunno how much UV protection they offer. They’re definitely not recommended, but what did the independent shop owner tell you because tires don’t require maintenance other than correct tire pressure and wheel alignment do they? And neither of those contribute to dry rotting, those are strictly factors in accelerated or uneven tire wear.

I bought a pair of Sailun TerraMax tires for the rear of my crew cab 4x4 half ton, they were the worst new tires I've ever had. I towed my camper on a long trip with them as well as a good amount of regular hwy miles, plenty of time for them to break in. They regularly lost traction in standard driving and while towing, like they were coated with oil. This nearly caused the truck to spin out of control and send my family and I off of the highway, so many times this happened. Balance and installation and all points of safety were done correctly, I could only conclude that these tires were just plain dangerous! I had to find a tire shop 14hrs from home on vacation and change them out to Good Year's I've had before that performed safely and as expected. I'll avoid Sailun at all costs going forward.

@@dirtyaznstyle4156 most seem to be OK using the terramax. although the terramax H/T is being discontinued per les schaub tire. which kind of sucks when you just need 1 tire but cannot find it
