The fact that the tach starts to flash once you get to the shift point is bad ass. This is the first I knew that it did that. Wish my bike had that on it. Kawi really out did themselves on this bike.

This video introduced me into the sport bike world. :)
I like the new LED style tach. It looks like it is much easier to see. The visual indicator of all the LED's flashing when the bike hits the rev limiter is also a nice feature to see. I don't know if they have the capability to set shift points or not on the lights, but if it does... that would be icing on the cake!

sometimes it is faster to keep the bike at the rev limiter than to shift up when the corner is allready in sight,
it won't hurt the bike , that is what the rev limiter is for
those shift lights are awesome.
@raskioo that's just because of the mere fact that a street bike is not geared for race tracks, otherwise it would top out a lot earlier than it should.
@pclarke0046 yh but he is always close to a corner so in a 1000 cc you don't need to shift gear
i like the onboard view much better than the actual look of the bike

A lot of the Kawasaki sportsbikes have been like that for years. I quite like it actually.
@dbharr77 agreed. don't be afraid to load the front end either.
I noticed the that instead of a speedo there is a gear indicator. Is that a standard option to swap them back and forth or was it specialy done for the track?

to me it sound like the camera mount is shaking, and i think those vibrations is getting picked up by the mic.
The RPM's are not going to hurt the motor at all but he should use the clutch for the 1-2 shift. It's too wide a spread between the gear ratios not too. And yes, he can damage the dogs and slots on the gears. All the other gear changes are fine to shift clutchless if you know how. I don't hear an ignition interrupt, or the tell tale pop, so it has no quickshifter. Editors... clueless but get to have all the fun

looks pretty cool, fast revving or is it just my imagination? would love to try one out, not a fan of all the crazy electronics on newer bikes, but hopefully there's a no electronic option.

I'm pretty certain this would have been all stock as it was the 2011 ZX-10r being tested by an MCN road testor before it was released to the public.
@ridgebackmamba kwaka's are better now than ever. In fact 2011 is the first time that the zx10 is the ridirs choice for superstock racing championships. With major frame and geometry improvements being the main advantages the powerfull motor and traction control and anti whelee are superb added fetures. A zx10 currently leads the british superstock 1000 championship, something that has always been dominated by other manufacturers till now.
what is that horizontal bar that has a rod going though it that is attached to handle bars?
is it true this thing lacks up top with all the promises of power more or equal to s1000rr?

I was thinking the same thing. When you get that high in the revs, the bike has no more power to give, so change early.
Trevor was doing almost the entire circuit in 2nd. Thats not right at all.
@rsscoyote Theres a rev limiter so you don't hurt the bike.

@Emaster255 1 big problem there. he is riding at qatar, under the floodlights, if it was wet enough to see his reflection he wouldnt be able to see anything :)
@FAZER6N 100mph comes up before the rev limiter kicks in in first gear

Redline is around 15k. maybe 15.5k-16k? usually busy looking where I'm going...
when hitting the limiter in first, you have 170-175kph
Second barely passes 200kph, i think (again, busy watching the "track")
That Rev meter looks the shit :)
Those track lights aren't cheap to have on! Wonder what it cost to rent the track at night?

3rd gear is for 110, 4th 145, 5th 170, 6th 190. thats what they are there for.

Ive always liked Trevor, back in old PB days, but if this is how Trevor rides a track now, then Im sorry, but I feel my Daughter could beat him.
That little peddle on the left is to change gear. I have seen ZX10 vids on youtube of US journo's really riding the nuts of these bikes, not just revving them to bits.
MCN you did a great job NOT adding rubbish music, and the HD was great, but the contents was almost laughable.
i would love to ride under those floodlights one day...
