I had an all white deaf Whippet. She was the best dog I ever had. Her brother used to sleep next to her with his paw on her so when we called him for a walk/food/to come inside she always knew something was happening. This was just the heartwarming story I needed today.
They're such a wonderful animal. My sister has four little Italian Greyhounds much like the whippets I'm really happy that you got to enjoy such a beautiful little animal a beautiful amen🐾💋
@@kita6100 That was the difficult part if she was not near the hearing dog but she would respond to hand signals. Obviously she was never off leash unless in a fairly confined space and we had a big yard for her. Usually if she saw her brother running towards us she would come- They were very close and I suspect he sensed she had problems as when I say close I mean just about joined at the hip and almost always touching even when sleeping. I don't think we ever had any big issues in that regard.
My wife and I adopted a 16 year old deaf and blind poodle mix. The rescue shelter said nobody was interested in adopting him and were so glad we'd give him at least a few loving remaining months. Turns out, he was with us until about 20-1/2 years old and was just the best dog in the world. He used his nose to map the downstairs area and got around just fine. He had three different beds in various spots and a water bowl in kitchen. As he was an old man, he'd get out of the bed he chose for the evening, meander to the laundry room (where we always had pee-pads laid out), find them, do his business on target, then meander to his water bowl in the kitchen, drink his fill, then always return to the particular bed he was sleeping in. Brilliant dog. It's not for everyone, but very worth considering. You may be surprised how sweet and fun an old dog can be.
@@lorismithokon9028 I grew up with dogs and it seems to be mostly genetics. My first dog lived for almost 19 years despite a shitty start in live and being a large breed.
@@lorismithokon9028 I have no secret other than to just get lucky and get the right dog. My experience is similar - ranging from 8 years to about 15. We've had dogs from pups but now we only select older rescues. One of ours had known kidney issues - so we just loved her while we had her (for only 9 months). We're not sure how old she was but the vet figured 10-11. We generally don't know the real age of many - it just turns out the "old man" came with his original medical records.
@@paulagresch5477 right? No allergies. We've become so afraid of germs and scrub ourselves half to death, but that's caused a whole new set of problems. Don't get me wrong -- antibiotics are probably the #1 health invention of all time, but now panicky people overuse them, thinking they're keeping their kids "safe," but it does just the opposite. And all the antibiotics given to farm animals that later become our food also become part of the chain of antibiotic resistance (the CDC has a good infographic that sums it all up). It's madness!
Sugar is bad for the dog, and dogs can carry terrible bacteries that can kill the kid. So I don’t see why you’ld say « thank god » for that 🤔. I’ld say it’s not a good idea. And I am not at all the « too clean, too worried about germs » type, on the contrary. But there are things to avoid.
I'll second that. Such happy joyous ugly crying here. What a pure and beautiful friendship. "The little girl who can't stop talking and the guy who cant hear a thing"...I'm bawling
In fact most real life heroes never wear capes and never draw attention to their good deeds. They are not just heroes but angels on earth. Thank the Lord for such beings.
Absolutely nothing like it. So happy they adopted the puppy especially when they knew it was deaf to start with. Medical problems will stop people from adopting a furbaby because they know they can't afford the vet bills that could incur with having any kind of pet with any kind of problem. But this family did it anyway. That was awesome of them to do that.
It's so refreshing to see parents who actually teach their children to treat animals with respect and gentleness. I'm so sick of seeing kids mistreat their pets and the parents not caring at all. This however, was a beautiful story....I'm so happy for all of them!!
100% agreed. We have a labby, she is extremely calm, gentle and patient. Yet the first thing we taught our son was to never hurt her, no pulling ears/tail, no hitting/kicking, no screaming at her, leaving her alone when she doesn't like to play anymore etc. Teaching children mutual respect for all beings is important, i will never understand how and why some parents fail to see that.
I fully agree :) like how if the child hurts the let's just say dog and the dogs maybe a bigger dog and is unhappy than they might attack it and can be lead to being put down of returned messed up world but I guess that's how it is
I absolutely agree, respect for all living things is important, this video did a heart good. Although he can not hear her I am sure he senses vibratios when she speaks and he feels her gentle loving soul. Win win for the foster parent and the adoptive family. So awesome to see such love ♥️🐕👨👩👧👦♥️
My pittie was deaf the last year of her life. She was not broken, just had to communicate a little differently with her. She was still absolutely perfect in every way and I was thankful that she would get just as excited as always when she would see I was talking to her.
We have a deaf dog...thank you for adopting this pup! Please put a small bell on his collar so you will ALWAYS know where he is. That is of UTMOST importance so you don't lose him. If he gets lost, he can't hear you call him. Take good care of him always.
I'm sure they'll take special care and precautions for this little gentle soul. No matter how big he gets. I'm sure they won't let the guy out of their sight. Especially Lil. He's her companion for life!
A few years ago, I was watching this dog training programme and there was this deaf dog that the owner had no control over. Then with teaching the dog sign language and hand signals the dog was able to communicate for the first time, he even did his first recall where he came running!! I cried my eyes out, so emotional.
We raised our daughters with rescues in our house throughout their years growing up... now they're in their 20s and are talking about getting their own dogs... this experience will shape who Lillian is to become. There is no better gift!
You know the foster guy had this planned. "Oh do you wanna walk the dog?" "Oh I'm going out of town can you watch the dog?" "This dog is staying here forever right?" _JOB DONE!_
We need many, Many, MANY more folks like these BEAUTIFUL People - Thom is a spark that makes a warm fire that warms homes one by one until there's no more homeless dogs!! Such a wonderful story 😊😍
Foster dad is slick as hell. Asking them to dog sit while he travelled to New Mexico hahaha. Good planning there, Thom! The family needed that little nudge to realize Moz was their doggy soulmate.
I love how cool and happy this family is. You lucky dog, Moz!! I know fosterers/rescuers don't seek credit but they are an important infrastructural piece of our society.

Me too! I'm very cynical towards most of society and sometimes I feel hopeless because I know there's always going to be just... endless suffering and cruelty in the world, but I think there's value in every single life saved. It's beautiful and worth it every time a person or animal gets a second chance and gets to be happy :)
I remember my first dog. We'd spend hours outside in the sandbox him letting me cover him in sand. I can still remember the texture of silky fur and coarse sand. I cried with, talked to, laughed much and loved that dog so so very much. He saved me from boredom and healed heartbreak. It's true that you never forget your first love. Rip Snoopy...
My dog first dog Terra, I grew up with til I was 5, she treated me like her puppy. My dog Meisha I had for 14 years, she was my sister and best friend and I literally had her from when I was 7 til when I was an adult. I miss her every day.
I know your joy and pain. My first love was Lassie. Found her in a shelter, one look and I fell in love with her. She was with us for 12yrs. The family didn't want her but...... Boy oh boy!....... after a week, They fell head over heels in love with her too 😁🤗.
Not every child. The only reason i say it is because everyone thinks a dog is a great Christmas gift. Only thing is kids don't understand responsibility worth a crap, and so the unfortunate side of this is dogs end up being dropped off at the pound at higher rates around the holidays because people underestimate the responsibility of dog ownership.
I have so much respect for those that foster animals especially the hard to save ones like a deaf dog or paralyzed dog or cat. That guy saved this innocent puppy from being put to sleep. Unfortunately he was a result of inbreeding dogs. His spirit seemed so calm and trusting. May they all live happily ever after
If you can't foster, think about donating time or money. Rescue organizations almost always need help with the day to day tasks of running the operation. You can walk dogs, play with kittens, restyle their web page, or clean. Good luck.

That little girl though. Just her complete acceptance of him and loves him unconditionally. Her mum and dad are doing a seriously wonderful job raising their kids.
I've noticed that even hearing dogs catch on to hand signals and body language before the actual verbal commands. It's all about being consistent. My 14 year old Boston terrier went deaf during her last year and her being familiar with the hands signals we had used since she was a puppy came in very handy.

Amish people are around animal feces more than any other population in the US...and they have the lowest rate of allergies in the US. Strong deciphering immunity 👍

That is so sweet 🥺 Thank you so much for sharing such a heartwarming story. I hope life brings you joy and happiness 💖
@@victoriaviens8064 Thankyou for your kind words.
how did you call him ?
What a lovely dog and he was so lucky to have you! And you to have him. He sounds like such a lovely dog. 🌸
I would love to hear your secret for helping a dog to live to such a old age. I've never had a dog live past 15.
@@lorismithokon9028 I grew up with dogs and it seems to be mostly genetics. My first dog lived for almost 19 years despite a shitty start in live and being a large breed.
What a lovely story, thank you so much for caring for him.
I love this mom so much! Thank god for people who still let their kids lick from the same ice cream thing as the dog.
hee hee. I had the same thought. The sweetness takes the gross out of it.
Yes!! These are the kids that aren't always sick!
Dogs dont need jabs though.
The last shot of them all heading into the house together--Mozey has found his family. They're just such a wonderful unit of 5 beings.

In fact most real life heroes never wear capes and never draw attention to their good deeds. They are not just heroes but angels on earth. Thank the Lord for such beings.
Yes, some wear dogs in a backpack.
Or their underwear on the outside. However, they have a heart of gold.

The bond between a child and their dog is one of the purest things in the world.
Absolutely 100% melt your heart like butter🐾💋
Absolutely nothing like it. So happy they adopted the puppy especially when they knew it was deaf to start with. Medical problems will stop people from adopting a furbaby because they know they can't afford the vet bills that could incur with having any kind of pet with any kind of problem. But this family did it anyway. That was awesome of them to do that.
Almost holy.
mad me cry and i never cry like never.
The child - yes.Mostly not.
@@ScaredDeer7571 The parents who let their kids bulky animals, their kids usually get attacked by their pets.

This is wonderful advice! I hope they will see this post
Great tip. I hope the family sees it. Hopefully they'll give him some GPS chip or collar as well.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing that. 🙏🏻

That’s so special love seeing something good happen nowadays! 😍
that's beautiful, brought me to tears, thank you
I have so much respect for those that foster animals especially the hard to save ones like a deaf dog or paralyzed dog or cat.
Good luck.

you have no factual proof hes inbred. any dog can be born deaf
