However if the house was bought at $15 mill then paying another $700,000 to update everything isn’t much, especially if you can get the seller to split that w the buyer, than it’s only $350,000 each. Home’s like this built back then were built to last, to be lived in and loved for all that was to own it in the years that the walls would still be standing! This house has given shelter, love, laughter, and sometimes heartache, but yet she still has outlived all those who have owned and still own her, it’s a slap in her face that now after all she has done and all her love has been given she will be torn apart for reasons unknown to us , she should be able to have historically renovated and put the shine back in her!
    Though I’ve only got to see your grand beauty in this video, I’m still in awe of your brilliance and hopefully parts of you will go on to live in other houses in the future!

    I know everyone explores the building first before they turn on the cameras. So you know what each door goes to. But as a viewer I saw so many closed doors that you just walked past. I am yelling "what is in that door" or "what is to the left". Also camera edits without explanation is frustrating. You know you walked from one end to the other but the viewers are wondering how this new room is attached to the room we were just in.
    Lastly you seemed scared to explore areas. like the attic " its heavy. It is just an attic" and you flew through the basement.

      Seeing how the home has maid quarters and the regular home, it's a lot of wasted space if your not going to have a live in maid. It's very dated, it would need some major updating. If a person had the money you could very easily restore this amazing house. So beautiful and priceless just because of how the older construction was done so much better. So sad that this home couldn't be repurposed. The older homes have such character. The whole estate is amazing.

      If they had Toddlers in there I could definitely see why they'd lock them in at bedtime. Lots of ways they could have hurt themselves including a deadly fall down that massive staircase! Probably the servant checked in on them too at night, I hope. Lol. I'm trying not to assume the worst scenario here and since he said the beds were so small that's my guess.

    Normally, a foyer that has so much 'going on' would be a turn-off but this one is somehow appealing. Even with the busy wallpaper pattern, checkerboard tiles and burgundy stair runner, it makes a statement BECAUSE of those elements! I would love to come home to this every day!

    That’s a central vacuum unit, there are plugs in each room to simply hook the vacuum hose into and vacuum each room. When the flap on the plug is lifted to connect the hose, the vacuum starts working. When the hose is disconnected, it turns off.

    Here is an issue where the land value has increased more than the value of the mansion itself. This is happening in many areas and more and more beautiful mansions are being destroyed and lost to history. This makes the remaining mansions around the world even more desirable and valuable. Rarity = value = multi millions.

    • @icascone
      @icascone 2 роки тому

      Is it due to land tax too high or just someone wanting to redevolp the site with smaller homes to make huge profits?
      Either way in other countries there would be an interest at retaining them... even here in Australia there are heritage listed laws in place...

    People often rent rooms in large old houses (or turn into small apartments). So the lock may have been on the outside of the door for that reason or the room was used for storage.
