I called two garage door companies and they quoted $400 & $600 to replace the belt. No way!!!! So glad I saw this video. Not only did it show me how to replace the drive belt, it recommended calling the company for a new belt. I called and they sent me one for FREE! Today I changed it in less than an hour. Thanks for the fantastic tutorial.

Definitely one of the best-made instructional videos ever. My wife was absolutely amazed I could do this without breaking anything or making multiple trips to Home Depot. I agree with all the comments below. The video was perfect. I followed along step-by-step. It probably took me 45-60 minutes, but I am slow. And best of all, it now works great. Thanks a million.

This is by far the best video on this topic! You so clearly and simply showed what tools I needed and how to do it from start to finish including necessary adjustments. My only hiccup was not realizing the bolt has a flat side that needed to face the teeth side of the belt. I rarely write reviews for something like this, but I made it a priority to do so. THANK YOU! Thanks for making this video. 20-year-old Lift-master kept stopping midway up. Couldn’t figure it out. Called service tech. Duh! Belt was frayed and stripped for 10-inch run. Old model. Can’t get belt. Need need new unit. Quoted $520 before tax, installed and 1-week for parts to arrive. 10-minute internet search for replacement belt. $95 delivered in four days. This video and 45-minutes of work with tools I already had and DONE! Thank you! Was able to ‘re-tune’ length of run, which is probably why belt was stripped in first place.

This is the best garage door belt replacement video. I was able to change it in less than an hour after watching this step by step. For reference, I changed the belt before it was completely broken off so it makes it much easier but nevertheless I really appreciated this video, not only saves a lot of money but also learned a new skill. I would have never know how to take off and put back the chain link. So thank you so much

After watching your video, i called Chamberlin to check whether I have lifetime warranty and they indeed confirmed that and sent me new drive belt and the motor (though I requested replacement for belt only). Great video; watched it once and was able to replace the belt correctly the first time; no redos :-). I definitely recommend calling Chamberlain; have your model number and date of manufacture ready (you can find it behind one of the light covers), also the height of the door (from floor to header) because that determines the belt length, and you'll make sure that you get the correct belt ... and you may find that it is covered under warranty. I got mine at not cost, not even shipping. (I used to like Chamberlain; now I _love_ them :-)).

Bravo! You made it so easy. Watching it and replaying some critical parts just once was all that I needed. Just the right pace and not rambling. I really appreciate two parts A) the part where you did a check on the open and close with the door unhooked and B) where you mentioned that the belt and motor sometimes has a lifetime warranty. You rock and so does LiftMaster for covering a rubber belt for life!!!! One thing you may add is that you need to know the height of the garage door before ordering the belt - I noticed that your belt was for 7 feet height whereas mine was 8 feet. While ordering I was asked to measure the door height by LiftMaster - basically the vertical plumb-line distance from the floor to where the door lip is when fully opened.

Thank you for making this video!! I followed a different video and after replacing the belt I sadly learned the opener was in the “up” position but the clamp was in the “down” position, so the opener tried to close when it was already closed…
I loosened the spring bolt and got the belt off the gear, followed your procedure to get the motor into the down position, then put the belt on the gear and re-tightened. All works now!!
PS I didn’t realize until the end of the video but you installed the other opener in my two door garage a few years ago! Hope you are doing great!

I just wanted to say thank you for the awesome video! I got a new belt installed thanks to your video!
The belt on my opener broke yesterday. I got a replacement belt today, and got to work. I had to take off the pulley by the door opening to get the new belt through the opening. The belt end was too big to fit through the opening with the pulley in the way. Also, the end of the new belt where the chain link is was just a tad too big, and it would not fit in the link with the bolt. I grinded off a tiny bit of the new belt end until I could fit it and the bolt end together in the link, and that worked perfectly.
I also had to adjust the up and down stops like you did. Thanks again!

Hi Richard. I just completed my replacement of the LiftMaster belt and have you to thank for your great video. I wanted to mention one issue I found with the threaded adjustment bolt on my opener. One side of the bolt is flat and is inserted into the carrier one way and one way only. I installed it on the new belt and found the bolt would not easily slide into the carrier hole. I didn't realize that there was a flat side and since the bolt was on the wrong side of the belt teeth, I had to unscrew the extended nut, unlink the bolt and re-link it with the flat side on the same side as the belt teeth. This may sound confusing, but it was a minor issue and I quickly fixed it. Door opener is working and I will contribute to your PayPal account later tonight when I get cleaned up.

Yes you are correct. The D threaded shaft goes in a certain way. I wish I pointed that out better. It wasn't always like that. Chamberlain LiftMaster redesigned it later on like that because the belt would twist over time and use.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year's ahead. I personally had a rough 2021 and hoping for a better 2022! Comments like yours bring much needed joy to my life. Thank you! 🙏

I really appreciate the tutorial. I installed the belt in under 30 minutes. At first I purchased the wrong belt (41A5434-11). There's a slight difference between the 41a5434-11 and the 41a5434-11a. The difference between the two is the hook opening is slightly open on the "a" belt. Also, it comes install already so you can't replace the hook.

I have three doors with openers that are 18 years old, and one of the belts recently failed Checking the manual I saw that the belts have a lifetime warranty to the original owner (they don't ask for proof). I asked them to send me two so that I could replace all the belts due to age. I purchased one belt from Amazon because of the one-day shipping. That will be used for the broken belt. The other two will likely take 7-10 days to arrive from Liftmaster. Great video! Thanks.

Kudos! Great and concise video. I have twin Chamberlain 2280's, 17 years old. Both belts failed nearly simultaneously whereby rubber sheared away and exposed wires right where the motor pulley contacts the belt. Although it took me a while to find the proper part numbers once I had them, a quick trip to Amazon took care of the rest. After reading reviews of the belt, some suggested I go ahead and order a pre-tensioned spring (Chamberlain 41B4103) as well as a new link kit (Chamberlain 4A1008) along with belt 41A5434-11A. Reviewers made it sound like re-tensioning the spring was a pain, but seeing your video I think not so much but perhaps tedious. Anyway, great video tutorial, especially the primmer on the up and down travel which had never even crossed my mind. Took 20 minutes, though a second set of hands to repeatedly hit to open/close button (my wife) was handy!
