    You should get a right angle adapter for your drill. It would save you the trouble of removing the mounting bracket. They run about $20

      much appreciated. I will look into it. As i mentioned somewhere on my channel in one or a few of my videos….I am by no means a Mr. Know it all so I am totally always open for suggestions and tips from others out there to help me become better at what I do. Question for you. Do you think the heat we've been experiencing could make the tension springs a quarter turn weaker? I had no problem until this heat and the tension cables came off the drums. Im just down the road from you in Corpus Christi. We've had triple digits temperatures for several days. Thanks for the great videos.

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  Рік тому

      I wouldn’t think so honestly. There is a lot of gap created in the springs once they coil and uncoil during the open or close cycle, so there is too much gap all through the coils that can give before the spring itself. Besides, the spring is bolted down on one end and tightened with set screws on the other. However, on the flip side those set screws can slip a little.
      But overall cables coming off usually is a sign of a little TLC needed on your door. Thanks for the engagement sir!

    Nice content, it made me want to start doing this. Btw I do metal fabrication., such as doors, rails, window protection. Etc. I’m located in Tijuana, bc. There’s no such thing as trade school for this so I was wondering if it’s easy to learn by watching these videos and starting to offer this service? What would you recommend to get clients if you’re barely starting? Thanks for your feedback.

      Sorry for my delay. This is not hard at all to learn. There are some things you will come to learn and advance on through experience in the field. But man once you do learn it, the money you make due to your knowledge and expertise vs other insane manual labor jobs, this is very rewarding and actually fun as well. When I take a broken mess a customer has, believing they need a new door etc, I like the challenge of doing great work and saving the door. When I see the customers disbelief and impressed reaction….it is truly rewarding

      You have to look for a garage door vendor near you. Or you can try to look up and contact I believe its Service Spring Co.

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  7 місяців тому

      Then you would need to remove the cotter pin out of the end of the motor rail and that will allow the motor/opener rail to come down by hand then you can take the pulley off

      This is old but for anyone else struggling, I threaded my belt through from the flat backed metal end where you have to install the long screw and nut. I threaded it before doing all that. The metal piece just fits through. Then while the belt was loose on the ground I attached the clip, screw, spring/clip, and nut etc. Just make sure you thread it in the right direction that it’ll be pulled.
