SoT has always felt like a game with an identity crisis and I wonder if we're just seeing a culmination of missallocated resources and lack of leadership/vision.
This is their do or die time. They make season 10 a banger, they’re out of the woods. If it fails, there will be dark times ahead for the sea of thieves.
game will die in terms of player retention, but might pick back up say S11/12/13 etc. SoT is super unique game which means it cannot be replaced, just losing interest in the game though is concerning.
This “season” will run through every single possible actual season in real life North America over its 7 month span. The season started in winter(March 16th) Spring starts here March 19th, so went through all that. It will run all the way through the summer… …and into the fall by the time season 10 rolls around(Oct 19th) I hereby request it be to called “Season’s 9”
I’ve been a die hard player since launch and I haven’t played in months other than the 3 hours of monkey island. The game needs new mechanics. They keep getting in over their head with licensed content and then pull main development over to get it out on time. The game isn’t dead but it is in a coma.
I gotta say, Rares resource allocation and priorities being utter TRASH has been an objective fact for a long time now. The very concept of adventures proves it. The adventures have more effort put into them than any voyage, only to be removed forever after 2 weeks. It is like taking development time and LITERALLY THROWING IT AWAY FOR NO REASON! In good news, it seems like Rare has finally realized how ridiculously stupid that is, since they apparently said recently that all old adventures will return as permanent additions, like tall tales. Took them long enough to figure out how dumb that system was. Just throwing away development time and potential features for the sake of generating fomo in people? Trash business practice. Also, it means that newer players have no way to be invested in any adventures, as they don't know what the hell is going on or how it got to this point. Imagine plaing tall tales, but you can only ever play one out of any chain of tall tales, surely any player would understand the story that way 🙃 TLDR: Rares decision making and resource allocation has been trash for YEARS. Anyways, rant over.
It feels so abandoned. The worst season has been the longest. The cheating is just rampant i feel like I'm playing an open sourced game. They really just need to make SoT2 so they can actually do all the stuff they wanna do. It's held back by being made for a 10 year old console
Other devs don't hold their games back. They just release broken games and content and say stuff like, "We are aware of blah blah blah and are currently taking actions to fix the issue." or "It's not a bug. It's a feature." (something Sea of Thieves has done many times)
@@Onikura exactly and they create the content that devs are too scared to do now like proximity chat. Im thinking a lot of AAA games also suck because they are afraid to offend the babies.
Cool to hear this from a developer who knows what can go on behind the scenes. I wish Rare and other companies would do more technical sit-downs where they go over actual code, bug fixes, how things are implemented, challenges they are facing etc. Instead of the standard PR stuff
Re: Monkey Island's appeal, I honestly think the licensing has been very effective in reverse. I was only somewhat familiar with Monkey Island before the tall tale, but I've since taken an interest in it. A lot of people I know have been in a similar position. I'm just hoping the money moved in Rare's direction for advertising, or at least that it was a break-even deal.
Would be neat if they were working to get mores ships on a server at once. Right now a guild system wouldn't work because even a few ships can dominate a server but if they could get 15-20 ships on at once then you could have 3 or 4 guilds of 5 players on a server at once. And a 10 ship battle sounds crazy.
The reason for monkey island as a cross over as it was one of the biggest inspirations to the game itself, it’s something they where always wanting to do and have taken the opportunity to do so, it seems the next update is going to expand the current game cycle, building off the original game mechanics and adding to that can be expansive, and with the push back they have decided to add the initial season 11 content to season 10. I do agree that the management and work flow isn’t what it could be but I feel that they have really big ideas they wanna do and have to compact it intk the schedule of seasons. Ever since seasons have been added they’ve felt longer and longer and it feels asif it’s the devs wanting to make these big updates but have to put them every 3 months which just isn’t realistic. It feels like the season method is becoming an issue, or at the very least, 3 month seasons are an issue. Perhaps rather than fully focus on fixing the internal work flow, tooling both it and the way seasons work could be more beneficial
Yeah I would rather have a working game than this half developed crap they are putting out. They shouldn't hype up seasons, because the main content isn't working after half of the season is over. The bug with the accomplished Bonecrusher wheel, you couldn't buy it. This bug was 2 months in insider. They didn't fix it there and they put one by one into the Sea of thieves and it took them 1.5 more months to fix it in the actual game..... They just aren't competent
@@interesting1816 to quote my father: Bleh bleh. Hitreg and cheating ain't getting fixed. Meanwhile the devs totally ignore new pve content to give us monkey island. Every faction needs new interesting missions.
If there's one thing Rare can't do is be accountable for their actions. Responsible maybe, but the same mistakes are constantly happening over and over again.
Its because they are working on a new game called Everwild and they are obviously focused on that. I think they messed up having the game on Gamepass and want to create another "Live Service" game to make max profit.
Today I had the best SoT day ever. It was not content, it was all my shots hitting where I aimed them. My sword worked, my blunder worked, and the cannons were on point. It was a good day after a month of crappy ones with chain shots literally slicing thru masts, but doing nothing. Whatever Rare is doing, if they are fixing that, then it will be good enough.
When I saw the video pop in my feed I immediately thought “oh no” and then I watched it and I’m absolutely crushed. I just checked the time left on the season yesterday and was excited season 10 was nearly here. Then they push it back TWO MONTHS. I understand dev work isn’t easy, but at the same time this has been a content drought the likes of which I’ve never seen and I’ve been gaming for more than 20 years. The game is in a rough place and they do this. I really hope they have a look at the way they develop content because something is majorly wrong over at Rare, the season 10 update got delayed earlier in the season and now they need not an extra week or two but two months? I love the game and I’m a little heartbroken because with the state the game is in and how rare develop content and a two month wait after being so invested in gaming for so long I can’t help but feel like I just watched them put a serious nail in the coffin. That’s the only way to describe what watching their video made me feel. Again I hope that’s not the case, but it’s just a feeling I have and I can’t shake it.
I agree. Season 10 is their "go big or go home" scenario. If they don't meet players expectations from all this build up and multiple delays, they'll definitely lose a lot of dedicated players. Hopefully the game even survives that long. Besides the 2 tall tales that everyone will finish in a day, there's been literally no "new" content that's been added for almost half a year. Hopefully Season 10 will be their big break but I still have my doubts considering how things have been up until now.
@@climax050 honestly not even that because sea forts are technically dumbed down skull forts. I think the last "new" content we had was the legend if the veil voyage and that still is well over a year ago. So yeah funny how the majority of the player base is over but hasn't gotten anything new.
So first of all it should be pretty clear by the fact I've had Cobb as my profile pic for like ten years that I'm kind of a Monkey Island fan, so I'll say right now that if they did it out of artistic and passionate reasons over commercial reasons I really applaud that. I'll also say that I have always preferred Tall Tales to adventures, that a permanent content which everyone can enjoy beats FOMO holding you hostage to engage any day. That said, if I were to criticize the Tall Tales concept, they don't add enough incentive to repeat for FUN. If they had alternate endings and interactions, secrets and easter eggs, etc. it would be better, and with how dialogue-oriented this is they could have borrowed some Bethesda notes. But I can see how someone who literally plays this for a job would feel differently.
We’ve had hit registration for 5 years, nothing has been done. We’ve had cheaters, nothings been done. We’ve had lack luster “content” this season. Season 10 must be the best season of this game or it will plunge to the debts of Davy Jones locker and people can say “Games dead”
I'm glad you did a TLDR. Mike with his convoluted CEO talk rounding every corner know to man straight up puts me asleep. Can't blame them for the delay though. shit happends.
I’ve been a huge player for a few years but ima be honest, I got bored really quickly of season 9 and stopped playing. I was hoping that season 10 would bring me back to the game but it got delayed by 3 more months. The amount of player playing the game has dropped at such a low point since season 9 and delaying the update for 3 more months is gonna kill the game. I know that Rare isn’t done but they are saying that season 10 will include season 11 content, why not simply give us season 10 content earlier.
I just started playing two weeks ago so I’m ignorantly just enjoying everything a lot. I didn’t really know the problems were a thing. I hope it gets back in order soon.
Just tune this stuff out. It's only PVP sweatlords who've already played the game to death yet refuse to take a break, play something else, or go outside that are saying the game is stale on content. They only ever engage in one aspect of the game (PVP), never do voyages or seeing what else the game has to offer, and then wonder why they getting burnt out on SOT and why all the casual players have walked away. If you enjoy the game casually alone or with friends there is alot of magic and fun to be had so just tune out this stuff.
I hope they add some sort ship expansion for captaincy that appears and disappears when it can and can’t exist so it’s customizable and give more room for captaincy stuff and i think it would be nice for mainly sloops to have more room and some sort of expansion that opens and closes when it can exist
I absolutely love your take on the new Tall Tales. It’s a fun tall tale, don’t get me wrong, but what happened to A Pirates Life? Monkey island simply doesn’t have the fan base to rationalize the resources pulled away from the game in the current state that it’s in.
to be fair, they can just win everyone back after the fact again. The initial game wasn't in a good spot (so I hear) but they've tirelessly tinkered away at the game and now new players (like myself) have been picking it up and enjoying it.
Oh when the game first launched, it was a disaster. Servers were overrun within the first few hours, and the number of bugs and glitches were insane. But they got it together pretty quickly. The main problem I see nowadays is all the pvp sweats who play the game almost like they're TRYING to keep new players from checking it out.
@@Phil_mias 1) I consider those cheaters to be in the same group as pvp sweats. (Primarily because, if you're that much of a loser that you have to cheat at this game, of all things, just to prove you're better than someone else, you've got a serious problem. Tell me I'm wrong). And 2) let's be honest here, it doesn't matter what game it is that we talk about, Sea of thieves or otherwise, EVERY game out there will have new bugs and problems when it updates. You don't have to like it, but it's just a problem that even the most diligent of game devs cannot escape--an unwritten rule of the industry that nobody, developer or otherwise, enjoys.
@@Kameleeon0728 Maybe for you, but it really kills the experience for whoever is doing the tall tale. Especially because you sinking them literally gives you NOTHING. Nothing but the tall tale exclusive items. You can't sell that crystal skull from Revenge of the MorningStar. You're just painting yourself as a jerk and a bully.
For me SoT is a better game when you pick it up as and when you can be bothered, I don't wait for patches/big patches I play and enjoy it for a period then drop it again for a period then pick it back up. I couldn't grind this 24/7 all year round, it'd destroy my will to live.
Bro hit reg for me seems like it’s always negatively affecting me, like one time I hit someone four times with my sword and they still didn’t die, and just blundered me up close despite me also hitting them. They didn’t heal either 💀
I feel bad for rare, they have been trying to keep up with us and now they choose to delay season 10 and lose players but if season 10 wasn't delayed it would be unfinished and nobody would like that from rare. I would rather a good update than a rushed one
It's not that bad - SteamDB stats are fine if not on the rise. From the perspective of a seasoned player, things surely got old. But generally, for a newcomer or just a casual player, the game is better than ever.
From the perspective of a casual SoT enjoyer, I couldn't care less if they delay it. I don't play enough for the season/game to get boring as I slowly continue to work towards my 100% achievements. As we know the priority is ensuring game pass customers are happy (which I am not), as they're paying a subscription, I just wonder what proportion of them also fall into the category of not playing particularly often and not caring at all about delays.
For a game that supposedly is PvP focused, they sure do focus on the story more then anything else. Even the PvE is aspects are getting overlooked. When was the last time Voyages actually got updated and made better? Where are the new weapons? When is enemy AI going to get updated? If they want to write a story this badly, they're better off writing books.
Rare has said in the past, that their idea was, for the game to be a fun PvE pirate experience WITH PvP elements. Later they acknowledged that to be a mistake, that one who includes PvP into their game, will make it a foundation of their game. After 5 years I still don't see the PvP improvements that are needed.
@@retey8982 Easy, boarding axe. Puts a small hole in your ship (two in a galleon, one on each deck) and lets you climb up the side of boats (with a distinct sound of course). Perhaps a more dangerous lunge (because you're putting more oomph into the swing) but slower swings compared to the sword. Give us another melee option, shake up the boarding a bit because it's no longer "yep that's a board, someone watch the ladders" and more "okay where's the dude climbing up from - holy shit he came up from the stern", and would just mechanically be fun.
Thats because this was supposed to be a casual PvPvE adventure game not a full blown primarily PvP sweat fest where only dedicated hardcore players have any chance of getting any content done without being rolled.
I mean if "New ways to do the same stuff" means making the devils roar relevant, order of souls fun, or a Hunters call overhaul; that would be pretty good
I mean I'm glad they're up front, honest, and taking the time to make sure whatever they release is right, but that's a Them problem, not a me problem. My problem is that SoT is riddled with bugs and cheating, and season 9 just doesn't have content. I have over a thousand hours in the game, but I'm too disheartened by the state of the game to play it since S9 dropped. I know Rare is working hard and trying to put out a good product, but they've done us all dirty via the myriad of speed bumps, overhyped content, and flat out failures over the last year.
I did monkey island and it was a nice 2 hour adventure. The adventure mode needs new content. I play adventure mode casually and that part of the game has been ignored for a long time new. The fps drops are awful. The pvp focus remains with hitreg and cheating taking up so much Dec focus while the casual player base is ignored for years on end. Game is destined to die.
The casual player base is ignored? Did you take a big schlorp of stupid juice before writing that? The casual playerbase accounts for 95% of the updates. Look at ALL updates aside from hourglass. Die hard PvP fans aren’t doing the Fort of Fortune.
@@kingargon You insult me? Every single update has focused on pvp for years. Every pve event besides fortresses and sunken kingdom was designed to instigate pvp. Since launch the focus has primarily been on encouraging pvp and catering to pvp. It's just a fact. The last update was a chest to fof to try again to get players fighting over it. It was a pvp update lol. They designed two entire game modes to add to the game for pvp on demand. But yes they are focused on anything but growing the casual player base and maintaining it to focus on other games as well as fixing the pvp again..... And again.... And again
Add custom time fuses to kegs, add grapeshot, add boarding axes, add throwing knives, add normal grenades, add new ship types, add nets for fishing and fishing boats, make fish more valuable as a source of income, add a wide assortment of roleplaying clothes like a cooks outfit/fisherman's outfit, etc. add potion making and potions, add the ability to change your spawn point to an island, add advanced cooking, add the ability to sit down and get drunk, add playing cards and liars dice to taverns, add a way to advertise to the server that you're having a party at a tavern, make every commendation a title you can equip, add flutes, add the ability to draw your planned routes on a map, add whirlpools, add an underwater mermaid city outpost where you can talk to mermaids, Do they have creators block, or what? There's SO much potential to this already great game
I agree with almost everything that you said. Might as well add a pirate social hub where you dock your ship and have crews check out the trophies you acquired. They could reuse the sea dogs tavern for that area. Fiddles are a must, more land/sea wildlife like maybe dolphins would protect you from sharks when you’re in the water, more sitting animations, a GMU enemy type, hammocks for galleon crews. I could go on. So much potential being missed
I stopped playing SoT just before the hourglass update came out because I was settling in a new country and needed to prioritize. I'm saddened to hear that there has been more complaints about the core systems and cheating. Maybe when I return things will be better and I will enjoy the game that I had built so many fond memories from.
This is bigger than you think. This is disney seeing what unversal is doing with Mario and keeping theit doors open for expansion. Disney also has the drama with the movie series so this can be a potential ip move for the park. Ive never played sot but ive always wanted to and watch videos about it and the story
Thats the thing with RARE. They are trying to make SoT a storymode game and its gotten to a point were for PvP players they dont care(also mentioning the cheaters problem), and focus for PvE. And guess what, even tho they are working hard to make US happy, they are not working smart. I think that RARE should stop adding more DLC's and actually focus on "upgrading" the thing that are already there.
Seems to be a pattern, perhaps they should never have committed themselves to a seasons timeline in the first place. And while the sandbox hasn't had a new island in years, they have no problem wasting time with socials, streams, community shit, puzzles and offline stuff.
Personally I don't mind the delay. I was really busy this summer and couldn't get many games in with my friends, so I haven't finished the season pass yet. This delay might kinda suck for the game, but honestly it lets me finish the pass and get all the rewards so I'm kinda cool with it for selfish reasons
They should have released season 10 with some good bug fixes at least and rolled the content into season 11. The tall tales are cute but the novelty will wear off soon. They need to bring the mechanics they had incorporated into the tall tale into the main game.
Cant be that hard compared to an actual hard job. We keep giving the gaming industry so many chances when in the real world you would be fired already.
@@zaberordeal Why is that a braindead response when indie developers are killing it putting AAA companies to shame. Its because they actually care about playerbase. Also people dont think about the fact that Rare is making a new game and i bet most of the devs are on that game called Everwild. I dont care about excuses i care about results as a paying customer. Funny how the Pirate Emporium always works perfectly and is always more detailed cosmetics then the ones you earn.
@@kordova2182the indie Devs are SpongeBob they make games with love and affection. The AAA game studios are like Mr.Crabs they only do the profitable thing or the actual devs want to care but they're getting ass fucked by the higher ups in the company
the problem with sea of thieves is that we have been doing the same thing for 5 years (well 3 if we count the first good updates), in different ways, but it's the same some do different missions and events with the same mechanics and everything just playing with reeskins, and others killing people and stealing using creativity until the devs gradually take away the mechanics that give grace to pvp. without goals beyond doing the same as always to raise more levels to buy a horrible skin for millions of doubloons the arena could have been better (although as it was I loved it) but it is an example of how using the existing mechanics and playing with them a bit you can do something different from anything seen before, they just need to listen to the players who want the best for the game and know what they are talking about, many of their ideas would make the game more fun We know that the captaincy did not turn out as everyone expected, but it is because they reduced it to do the same to obtain new skins but easier, If they had added more of the new ideas that they proposed, it would be better, but obviously it was easier for them to do it that way they don't take enough risks
I haven't played the game for a while at this point, but used to put in a lot of time, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt - my perspective is possibly a little outdated. I feel like the game is oversaturated with little features, that don't really allow you to do anything new, and old stuff is left behind. Think about skull forts, the regular ones, which used to attract the entire server for an all out conflict - these are now more or less not worth doing. The addition of better / faster ways to make gold leaves these things behind, and then, rather than give some love to those old features, something else is added. Even if that new thing is cool, the poor little skull fort is still forgotten. Show the old stuff some love - but not by making it more complex. Make it better with meaningful change! Thanks for reading :)
"new ways to enjoy content in the game" I'm expecting absolutely nothing lmfao, as you said it's gonna be the exact same stuff we've been doing for years
what the game needs isn't new content or new ways to play old stale content. They really really need to do some work on the base of the game and fix issues that have been plaguing the game since literally day one. They can throw all the boring dead simple tall tales they can think of and it won't do anything but keep people interested for like a week and that's being generous. They have spent soooooooooooo much time making one off pieces of the game that clearly took a lot of time and effort to make just to be used for 1 boring tall tale. It's interesting to see their creativity but whats the point if the assets are only used once or twice
Well said. Really does summarise the questionable development directions taken by Rare. Nobody is saying the QoL updates were a waste of time, but the way that content has been rolled out is certainly not helping. Nice to hear a sensible analysis of the current state of affairs. I insist that there are still bright days ahead of SoT. We just have to be very patient right now. Every year is a learning process for Rare. Personally I love Tall Tales and want to see more, but outside of that, I want Rare to focus on more voyage types, more World Events, just more server wide engagement activities. And more great things that I can’t even fathom right now.
Server wide engagment = 1 skull curse crew stomping every newer crew who hasn't had a chance to do the content yet then turning around and wondering where all the players went.
Keep waiting, the PvP community including content creators are a very vocal minority and Rare seems to be catering to them alot lately with S8 and such.
Great to know that the devs still don't understand their own players' interest, that's typical nowadays. Glad I stopped playing after they still haven't fixed Hitreg.
as soon as I saw and read the title I knew they would delay the season just like they did with other seasons, I don't remember what other seasons they delayed all, I remember is that they delayed one
All these events and stuff they promise would be great…. If there was something to do. No new faction, no new voyages, no new world events. Hell there’s not even cosmetics to grind for or buy and try out. Game needs new things for people to do and things for them to work towards desperately. What do experiences crews do in this game? Grind gold with nothing to spend it on? Play a PvP mode they might not like and that is infested with cheaters? Do the voyages they’ve done 100 times before? I can’t even bring myself to ask my crew to get on anymore because all there is for us to do is stack FOTD or grind PvP which is filled with cheaters or the queue times are too long or the matchmaking doesn’t work. Not to mention 100 levels for a faction purely PvP is a HUGE commitment, otherwise you’re playing for nothing…..
Sea of thieves' feels more like a grind of the same old than never before, I've been playing since 2020 and I haven't seen much difference apart from lacking players and a few cosmetics amongst other handy, but not new stuf! We need this unique experience of a game to truly embrace the 'pirate' livestyle, the story telling (which i LOVE ) should be in service to the gameplay, not the other way around. Updates to weapons, unique classes perhaps or roleplaying options for your pirate? (Rogue, Captain etc) PVE AND PVP REWORKS ARE NEEDED for this game to flourish (hence why the hourglass system was awesome), I'm sick and tired of the same old tall tales and experiences, we need something more in depth and interesting on the seas than just: *insert partnered franchise story here* or selling some 'new' chest from a fort which puts me to sleep.
Not removed so to speak, it’s being moved to another event along with the commendation being given a 2nd grade, likely a 30-50 chest increase with the rest of the ship set being the reward
Like the only thing to do anymore is try to complete the commendations but that just seems like a waste of time because I’ll never kill the shrouded ghost 5 times let alone 1 time
Wait a minute, so they`re including that "teleport" mechanic??? Like Destiny or Diablo where you can just teleport yourself to the places you wanna go?
Seasonal rewards need to be detached from seasons "big content" They can add the rest of all those recolor sets they only added one piece of. Go back to giving us 2 or 3 big updates a year with little things in the middle. All while having new stuff in a season pass to go after.
Wow. Im so glad I quit back in May. HG is just chock-full of cheaters (whether blatant or closet), I couldnt even get to a 2 streak before encountering some freak with cheats. Not to mention the already lackluster content updates (or re-released battle pass items in the emporium). I hope Rare can pull it together, as I had been playing the game for close to 5 years and still wish to see them succeed, but wow they have dug themselves a deep hole. I think that everyone should quit the game as well and go experience something fun on a different game until Rare finally gets their poop together
I think it's better to release three months late than release now and fix it for the next three months or more. It's sad if there won't any new content but they really need to fix those cheating and hit reg issues first
Honestly I think a lot of it comes from people who put too much time into the game. Don't get me wrong, Sea of Thieves is great and one can easily put a lot of time into it. The issue lies in the fact that there are a lot of people who put hundreds of hours into a game in a month or two, then complain when there isn't more content. It's impossible to satisfy a crowd like that and they always believe that they are the majority "game will die if no more content" when they don't even realize they themselves are what is extremely harmful to the community and it's associated morale
@@daytonsprague8425Yeah been saying for a while these types are what's killing this game not the devs. They play this game to death and scare away all the casual players with their playstyle, attitude, and absolutely cranked plays because they have 200+ HG hours.
Its almost as if I say this every time people get excited with the new "best season/update" that introduces literately nothing, or not something the game needs...
I think we are starting to witness the end of big gaming corps because Indie games are killing it right now and actually making things we want to play.
This game really lost me when the entire dev time was spent on doing seasonal story mission I dont give a fuck about, that you only do once then its permanently gone
I dont care about the content drought, if I actually can play the game. But I cant, because of the driver crashes:( Does anyone have a solution, Cause I thought I tried everything And Im desperate
Yup. They decision making is subpar to say the least, either that, or they've made quite a shitty deal with Microsoft back in the days and now they're stuck with the shitty decisions their devil overlords take in their stead. They've been heavily focusing on bringing a constant flow of new players for years now. Who does those new tall tales cater to? People that don't play sea of thieves, as all the player base KNOW this isn't what Sea of Thieves is 99.9% of the time. But who brings money to the game? Players using the Xbox game pass to play for free, or veteran players buying every new cosmetic like the completionist maniacs they are? Who brings life to the game? New players that don't know how to raise anchor and will probably leave the game after a month when they realize they've done all the tall tales there are, or Veteran players that've been playing almost every day for years?
Tbh ive quite soy untill season 10, i would not complain if they did a season for bug fixes. Sot is a testing ground for cheaters. They also need to ditch seasons and not lock themselves into a schedule and make sure each update is a banger and stable.
You. Have. Got. To. Be. Shitting. Me. He LITERALLY brought this up in the video itself. Bug fixes and content are done by two separate teams so only doing one would be pointless.
Did not bring up the idea of sot being a "testing ground" for new cheats and hacks, did not bring up a season dedicated to bug fixes, did not bring up the idea of getting rid of seasons. Also a dedicated season to bug fixes would not be pointless because with every update comes more bugs making the bug fixing team have to fix new and old bugs. I get what you're saying but at the same time no.
Ill be honest. Im getting bored. I put 1000 hours in the past 16 months and there's not much that gets me excited anymore. We need more world events, maybe a new game mode or curse to work for.
@retey8982 are you trying to argue that the game doesn't become repetitive over time? I already have 100% completion in every tall tale. Just so many world events and hourglass you can do until it becomes too repetitive
@@InbredJed82060 I am not saying that, i do agree that world events/any other repeating stuff is better than tall tales mostly, just 1000 hours is enough to milk dry any game
To be completely honest, I don't really care about new PVP stuff. I can hunt down any ship on any server. If I need an immediate fix, I can just hit The Hourglass and go nuts. I think anything short of making PVP integrated with the story is a waste of time. I want lore. I want more of the story to unfold, and I want to play in it.
@MaximusBC1 Thank you. That's exactly my point. The story could be amazing, but it's gone terribly neglected, in my opinion. An adventure here and there to give us a small bit of what's going on in the Sea of Thieves is a wasted opportunity. People who've read both of the novels know exactly what I'm saying. There's a ton of story here and they're letting it go to waste.
That’s not where I was going with that. Quite the opposite. The story is a waste of time. If I wanted story there are many other games that revolve around it. Sea Of Thieves needs to focus on what it does best. Player interaction, sandbox mechanics and players manipulating parts of a sailing ship in battle. Spending a bunch of time on a weak story is a waste of dev time. Adventures are the case in point.

SoT has always felt like a game with an identity crisis and I wonder if we're just seeing a culmination of missallocated resources and lack of leadership/vision.
They seem to have so many ideas but choose to allocate resources poorly to temporary aspects that don’t attract new players.
Don't think so, they seem convinced that they know what there doing, yet us players see it vastly different...
@@ColdSHeep I would say one of their major failures is that they focus only on getting new players.
This is their do or die time.
They make season 10 a banger, they’re out of the woods. If it fails, there will be dark times ahead for the sea of thieves.
I think if it fails, player count will drop to an all-time low until a certain season drops. (That's all I'm gonna say)

I’ve been a die hard player since launch and I haven’t played in months other than the 3 hours of monkey island. The game needs new mechanics. They keep getting in over their head with licensed content and then pull main development over to get it out on time. The game isn’t dead but it is in a coma.
yep.
So much time/resources put into Monkey Island that game itself is lacking.
Imagine plaing tall tales, but you can only ever play one out of any chain of tall tales, surely any player would understand the story that way 🙃
TLDR: Rares decision making and resource allocation has been trash for YEARS.
Anyways, rant over.
It feels so abandoned. The worst season has been the longest. The cheating is just rampant i feel like I'm playing an open sourced game. They really just need to make SoT2 so they can actually do all the stuff they wanna do. It's held back by being made for a 10 year old console
I'm actually happy with how they gave the response. I wish other game devs were like this
Other devs don't hold their games back. They just release broken games and content and say stuff like, "We are aware of blah blah blah and are currently taking actions to fix the issue." or "It's not a bug. It's a feature." (something Sea of Thieves has done many times)
The Battlebit devs are very transparent and they're smaller than Rare with triple the player count
@@Onikura exactly and they create the content that devs are too scared to do now like proximity chat. Im thinking a lot of AAA games also suck because they are afraid to offend the babies.
@@Onikura I liked how rare just told us straight forward in a mature way. Other devs I'll see will just trest us like children
Only dmg control, dont belive them
Cool to hear this from a developer who knows what can go on behind the scenes. I wish Rare and other companies would do more technical sit-downs where they go over actual code, bug fixes, how things are implemented, challenges they are facing etc. Instead of the standard PR stuff
So basically season 10 will bring 2 ship trinkets, a painting, and twice the pirate emporium items as originally planned
this
And season 11 comes out on the 27 of June 3023 at only a one thousand year wait!
Sounds cool but would only work if they made a sequel
CALLED IT. I have been saying it was going to happen because the way the new monkey tall tales are coming out.
I just hope they work hard to find out what kind of screw up caused this delay and they make sure it never happens again.
That’s what we hoped for 4 delays ago your late to the party 🫠
they have no content planned. Insiders proves this
@@interesting1816 to quote my father:
Bleh bleh.
@@fastnfunny6495 and pistol and eye of reach. I use all the weapons. They all worked. It was a great day
When I saw the video pop in my feed I immediately thought “oh no” and then I watched it and I’m absolutely crushed.

@@sealover7134 definitely pvp players and not the rampant cheaters or delayed and broken updates

And 2) let's be honest here, it doesn't matter what game it is that we talk about, Sea of thieves or otherwise, EVERY game out there will have new bugs and problems when it updates. Damn I took a break from the game because season 9 has already been so boring. What a shame
Agree
What will the new weapons be anyways
@@retey8982 Guess is as good as mine. I'm just speculating that they'll add more.
I mean if "New ways to do the same stuff" means making the devils roar relevant, order of souls fun, or a Hunters call overhaul; that would be pretty good
Spot on commentary of current events!
The fps drops are awful.

the problem with sea of thieves is that we have been doing the same thing for 5 years (well 3 if we count the first good updates), in different ways, but it's the same
some do different missions and events with the same mechanics and everything just playing with reeskins, and others killing people and stealing using creativity until the devs gradually take away the mechanics that give grace to pvp.
without goals beyond doing the same as always to raise more levels to buy a horrible skin for millions of doubloons
the arena could have been better (although as it was I loved it) but it is an example of how using the existing mechanics and playing with them a bit you can do something different from anything seen before, they just need to listen to the players who want the best for the game and know what they are talking about, many of their ideas would make the game more fun
We know that the captaincy did not turn out as everyone expected, but it is because they reduced it to do the same to obtain new skins but easier, If they had added more of the new ideas that they proposed, it would be better, but obviously it was easier for them to do it that way
they don't take enough risks
As someone who only really likes to do PvE. I have been waiting for something new for a HOT minute.
So like….years ago?
as soon as I saw and read the title I knew they would delay the season just like they did with other seasons, I don't remember what other seasons they delayed all, I remember is that they delayed one
Just make it so all world event bosses die in 1 hit that'll sort everything out
Sea of thieves' feels more like a grind of the same old than never before, I've been playing since 2020 and I haven't seen much difference apart from lacking players and a few cosmetics amongst other handy, but not new stuf! We need this unique experience of a game to truly embrace the 'pirate' livestyle, the story telling (which i LOVE ) should be in service to the gameplay, not the other way around. Updates to weapons, unique classes perhaps or roleplaying options for your pirate? (Rogue, Captain etc) PVE AND PVP REWORKS ARE NEEDED for this game to flourish (hence why the hourglass system was awesome), I'm sick and tired of the same old tall tales and experiences, we need something more in depth and interesting on the seas than just: *insert partnered franchise story here* or selling some 'new' chest from a fort which puts me to sleep.
does this mean we still have time to complete chest of fortune commendation? Heard that the chest is getting removed in upcoming season.
Not removed so to speak, it’s being moved to another event along with the commendation being given a 2nd grade, likely a 30-50 chest increase with the rest of the ship set being the reward

I think that everyone should quit the game as well and go experience something fun on a different game until Rare finally gets their poop together
this Season was a test before it was 7 months long.
Good Video fr
Prediction….now that’s it’s delayed to date Starfield SOT players abandon the game in September and never come back for season 10
I think it's better to release three months late than release now and fix it for the next three months or more. It's sad if there won't any new content but they really need to fix those cheating and hit reg issues first
I just want arena back
Perfect I agree 100%.
sad to see a contract stopping a man from saying what he really wants
Sea od thieves fans: no update in 3 moths 😡😡😡
TF2 enjoyers: It is what it is 🔥💪🏻
Honestly I think a lot of it comes from people who put too much time into the game.
If they never changed the game again, I would still keep playing it for a long time
It's kinda sad that the most exciting thing for me coming up is being able to bind bait. Puke players rejoice!
Its almost as if I say this every time people get excited with the new "best season/update" that introduces literately nothing, or not something the game needs...
I think we are starting to witness the end of big gaming corps because Indie games are killing it right now and actually making things we want to play.
Most ppl that I know that play this game played atleast one monkey island, I dunno what you are talking about
Is it wrong I’m mad? I understand they need more time but at the same time im kinda mad, I don’t know whyb
This game really lost me when the entire dev time was spent on doing seasonal story mission I dont give a fuck about, that you only do once then its permanently gone
I dont care about the content drought, if I actually can play the game. But I cant, because of the driver crashes:(
Does anyone have a solution, Cause I thought I tried everything And Im desperate
Gotta get new weapons I think
I just want another Community Day.
Monkey Island crossover was a good idea? Absolutely yes.
Spoiler alert it was terrible idea
@@Kameleeon0728 No. There are 2 worldwide popular pirate IPs, one is Pirates of the Caribbean, the second is Monkey Island
@@soundlattice5192 What are you even trying to say in the beginning?

Think about the technical aspect of making guilds work I'm not surprised it's delayed
What will guilds do? Are they just emissary alliances or something cooler?
@@andyralph4666 they do nothing
Ill be honest. Im getting bored. I put 1000 hours in the past 16 months and there's not much that gets me excited anymore. We need more world events, maybe a new game mode or curse to work for.
Name me one game that wouldn't get you bored in 1000 hours
@@retey8982fifa??
@@Fuhrer_SS_General idk fifa is pretty boring as is nevermind after 1000 hours
@retey8982 are you trying to argue that the game doesn't become repetitive over time? I already have 100% completion in every tall tale. Just so many world events and hourglass you can do until it becomes too repetitive
@@InbredJed82060 I am not saying that, i do agree that world events/any other repeating stuff is better than tall tales mostly, just 1000 hours is enough to milk dry any game
Honestly the only thing that keeps me playing is HG and helping new players...
Same expect i sink new players which is bad but fun
At least you try to help keep the community going most HG players enjoy ruining the game for others and wonder why it's dying.
(Laughs in insider)
SoT is fine, even if S10 flops have to naysay to get views tho so here we are
I'm just gonna play other games and come back for the tall tales just a shame it was delayed for so long
Despite all that's happened, this game is still fun.
Same
Sad days, this game is already dying this might be the final nail in the coffin
Just give us a proper anti cheat
Ong bro, im even seeing xbox players cheat 😔
To be completely honest, I don't really care about new PVP stuff. I can hunt down any ship on any server. If I need an immediate fix, I can just hit The Hourglass and go nuts. I think anything short of making PVP integrated with the story is a waste of time. I want lore. I want more of the story to unfold, and I want to play in it.
... unless they add the exploding rowboats back into the game. That would be dope as hell.
The story is the most uncompelling part of this game
When will there be discounts in the pirate emporium?
Its a cascade event - no content, no content creators drawing people in, no game income - older game cant justify its financial existence and enters maintenance mode as there is no money put forward for new content.
* Gets delayed again *
