I wouldn't say season 11 is about making it more accessible as it is making voyages good again
Trading Companies have been untouched for quite some time, so this is more of an update for everyone, with distinctions/rings and just overall updates to the entire system

The Chest of Fortune is moving to the Skeleton Fleet in season 11 as well. There is a chance the fleet will spawn as a fleet of fortune and give the chest
i am really confused by rares decion making. First, they remove arena and "replace" it with hourglass 1.5 years later to have it be on the same servers as regular adventure. They already saw how problematic it was when tdmers started camping people in adventure after arena was gone, but somehow they decided to make all the pvpers go play a gamemode with cosmetic rewards that every player desperately wants. After the removal of arena, pvpers were spread out across the servers but now, with hourglass, they're all in the same place. Unsurprisingly, a ton of people conplain, a ton of people start cheating which causes even more players to start cheating and then, after a year of no shit given about the mode at all, not even new cosmetics, it's nearly dead. Not to mention that every hourglass player takes up precious server space that could be inhibited by people who actually want to DO something on the server. All that keeping hg in adventure servers did was making it, so you could get 3rd partied. And then, because all the new/bad players in adventure complained about the top 5% of pvpers, rare removes quickswitching, driving nearly all top pvpers away from the game. Essentially, adding a mode for the pvpers, fucked the pvpers.
I just kinda wish they'd bring back arena with hostable servers and changable rulesets like supplies, map size, quickswitching, island loot, ship type, number of ships, etc. to allow anyone to practice. It'd bring a sizeable influx of players (back) to the game and make it, so adventure is a little more peaceful, with all the toxic and skilled players on other, seperated servers.
I say that as a tdmer who can camp 99% of players i fight btw.

I think this update is actually one of the best so far; basically every new player of the game, me included when I was new to the game, doesn’t want to do pvp, imagine I’m new: I don’t want to find people who actually destroy me in 5 minutes after sailing, that’s why at least for the start they added safer seas and that’s why they added more simple and schematics things like the new quest or fast travel thing .
Everything is set to get as many as new players possible and make them actually play the game( that’s why the rumors of sea of thieves on PlayStation and switch could be actually real) and it is good for the game, I’m not that og but the first months playing the game we’re actually pretty fun and interesting but being destroyed by other players in no time was a huge problem, you should have time to learn things and actually enjoy the beauty of the game, so its the right move for new players but even for veterans that just want to play, search , discover and don’t want actually pvp that much …
The game rebalances the entire economy, will hypothetically increase pvp encounters with actual loot, and gives hours of progression for people who have been done for a long time. How is this conflicting

seeing Rare's lack of content, sot on PS5 makes sense because they are working on porting it to PS! authough they really need to add an option to revert the hitmarker change in settings because the new one looks so bad
word. new marker looks straight ass and sometimes you legit don't even get a marker when hitting the shot, not to mention the delay of kill markers lmao
Though guilded voyages being on their way out leaves the door open for a rework in season 14

As a day 1 solo player who hit 200 in both hourglass about 10 months ago.. I have no real desire to come back to playing pve or pvp till the cheating is fixed. I am a PvE enjoyer too , just not worth it.
I actually can't wait for this season because it means easier commendation grinds and more lot to steal

Its a nice idea but that new voyage menu is way too complex - newbies cant even work out how a siren song voyage works and briggsy literally tells them how to do it, with text prompts and huge beacons in the sky. I fear they are still going to just get on the ship, pulling a map from the terrible quest board and trying to sail somewhere and do it.
Yeah it's kinda sad that it replaces the old system. I personally found it more charming to buy a quest from the representative (they should have sold captaincy quests imho) than from a big menu. Boxy kinda said it with "this initially feels unfun and overwhelming". I get that they want to make it easier to access and I even get that they want to showcase everything there is to do but it also kinda removes the factor of discovering it on your own. "what is that skull in the sky?" etc is now just a tile in a huge menu
@@chaosmagican Agreed, i watched Boxy's video and i think i remember him saying it looked like homework - why is rare so obsessed with menu-spam - even entering the game means going through 4 or more layers of menus.
I think it makes sense as everything was a bit spread out, which is fine if you know the game, but if not, it's not obvious so could turn players off. I think it's a good way to make you kick off your adventure then you discover the rest yourself as you manage more loot. To be fair I love Boxy, but he ain't the brains of the operation is he. He plays video games all day so doesn't really know what work is LOL. Homework was probably the last bit of work he did!
For you pvp nerds this update is going to be big too. Just the fact that pve isnt going to be horrible and voyages have been buffed to be worth it means youre gona actually encounter players with loot rather then an empty ship. Most of the time open crews crumble in the first few minutes because noone has a plan on what to do since only a few things are actually viable nowadays almost none of which are voyages.

I still want a way to join your guild with your ship on other servers. Ik seems toxic, but I’m just imagining how fun it would be to have 3 ships with all my friends on them sailing the seas
I can already see the potential backlash for this like a deer in headlights, but regardless. I honestly would love to see you go into more variety content. Sea of Thieves isn’t dead, but the game is constantly gasping for air. But, PvP is practically dead, I’ve since quit and any time I look to come back I see nothing to draw me back. I’ve just seen a clip of you circulating in The Finals, would love to see more content from that game. But I could easily see you doing something similar to Macro as a variety PvP creator.
I hope they know what they are doing.
Since season 8 (hg) the seas are so empty... When I was a newbie around s6 or 7 seas were so full and encounters weren't rare, of all skill level to.
I think the game will never be reach the same prime. I hope Rare proves me wrong... Thing is I believe Rare lacks in the game design département :(
hopefully the teleportation just means more players will actually have something to steal. Rather than them run away for 57 minutes with a bronze spitoon
The ONE thing I don't understand. Can you ever, DIVE down to an event that is on your current server, coming up somewhere else on the map, but without changing servers?
From everything I've heard, dives move you to another server period.
I don’t think So. When you dive for a world event you are doing it on behalf of a trading company, making the loot different from a typical world event.
Im pretty sure any dive you do is going to remain on your server. Its not like the hourglass its just used to get a voyage going quickly so if it switched servers every time it would not be quick at all and easily abusable to get away from enemys on your server.

there will still be many instances of where we will be tucked on the player ship where they will dive, and it will be very annoying, but hopefully any good will outweigh the cons..

@@tobyonatabe2601Yes, yes I do. I am there for the comedy, the tears, and the murder. While the addition of the loot can increase those things, there are plenty of additional activities you can do without them having loot. Even if you were someone who cared about the loot, sometimes people tuck on fresh spawned ships and wait it all out anyways.
Its a nice frog though. Lets be honest, this isnt just a gritty pirate game, there is cartoonish and and even cute elements and its good for making money.

More Pvp for me is just more players doing Pve. So if players are grinding Pve then I'm good. I'll be happy just stealing their gem.

I'm kind of disappointed by the new loot designs. They don't look...bad, but what was wrong with the old designs? The old captain's chest, for example, looks amazing. These new designs just look like reskins of the same chest, it's a little boring
Haven't had SOT installed since Season 9 and this didn't make me want to reinstall it. Hopefully season 12 is better but not holding my breath. For now Blurbs' streams are my SOT content and I'm pretty happy with that :)
You can dive to a regular skeleton fort, complete it in 2 minutes and dive again. Or probably even X marks the Spot maps.
They will probably fix this to be a 10 Minute cooldown no matter what.
Ya, dive to a fort, complete it, then dive again immediately, which loses the loot. Unless you are referring to possible immediate emissary 5.
Which even if it is emissary 5 quickly, I personally don't see a problem.

Actually you're wrong about the achievement that achievement applies to the maiden voyage and people that played for years never did it I still don't do it therefore they've never completed it
Pvp sucks in sot because there are alot of cheaters. They need to implement a anti cheat
fast travel is the worst thing they have ever added to the game. i'd take EVEN SAFER SEAS over that shit.
I share your concern that by allowing PvE diving it's really going to cut down on the randomness that happens while you make long sails across the map. I'm worried many crews will dive, complete an event, go sell, and dive again. Or even worse not bother to turn in since now you get rep just from touching the loot and then diving to the next event. Essentially speed running PvE events and making PvP much less likely on the seas.
Rare mentioned there's a cooldown for diving. You can only dive again quickly if you turn in the loot and complete the whole voyage. So only those who go through the whole process can make consistent use of the dive function.

Will Rare ever just let me have something completed? They even made me do their monkey island tales a second time for items they added later. 500lvls for Athena is an absolute joke when that company goes up in tiny slivers! Loot pays slightly more but events have barely any loot in them anymore and the new value of those few pieces doesn't even come close to the old payouts. When safer seas players learn they have 460 levels to go after safer seas, they'll never want to bother with high seas.. I've been playing for 5 years but this is the update that finally pushes me away. I dread each seasons changes now. I played as much as I could last week knowing I wouldn't enjoy playing anymore after the update and I was right.... I was already struggling with 500 guild levels now I'll never touch my guild again because I have to get 425 levels in the other companies instead. Stop giving us new ways to do the same old content and give us new content! A few S tier loot items and a few trinkets just isn't it. Forcing us to use up our saves voyages with a UI change that a completely different company imposed into the game is helpful for new people but not what we needed the most right now... there's too much that needs progressing now, it's overwhelming and saps my motivation to even start.

I’ve been maxed out in gold hoarders for a while now and I miss that feeling of progression seeing that reputation go up.
