- Spore Hard Difficulty Speedrun completed from Cell Stage to the Center of the Galaxy (Galactic Core) on Hard Difficulty in 56 minutes and 8 seconds. This is the first time Spore has been completed on Hard Difficulty in less than 1 hour!

This was my first commentary of something this long so I really hope I sounded clear and concise and most importantly that I kept the commentary interesting throughout the run. The first 10 minutes or so were scripted but the rest was with notes. Feedback is always welcome as I want to do more commentary videos like this one! I know there are some commentary mistakes like claiming to have 10 spice geysers instead of 8 in Civ, sometimes confusing the Tribal Instruments, and some other small things ;) Overall I am very happy with this run and I am going to update some of my other speedruns as well to bring them up to the current strategies.
This is the "New Game" (NG) category for Spore Speedruns. This is to simulate someone's very first time playing Spore. In this category only default Maxis made creations are in the Sporepedia at the start of the run, and there was no extra outside help from previous Space Stage saves during the run.

i remember back when i didnt know that the resolution was bad so it constantly crashed
The invention of autosaves are as significant as fires
I've had it worse - the game for whatever reason just stopped putting out frames onto the screen - I could hear my ship moving etc. so the game was responsive, but the screen was a still frame, rendering it unplayable. Sometimes I think the game is just designed to break down more and more as you play it.

@Ash S tbh I would still like that, it keeps games alive, cosmetic wise they can monetize much stuff in my opinion, they should just keep all main gameplay elements free and keep adding content in small dlcs like they did with Spore

it starts out really good and fast but gradually slows down to a snails pace at the end doing billions of years at the start and only single years later on

I love how you can tell how much he loves this game. Too often do we see speedruns where people grow to hate the games they play, but this is absolutely wholesome.
It takes a special kind of passion to still love a game even when you feel like you know almost everything there is to know about it.
Now *that's* a feeling that never gets old.

It was an update that lets you do that. I remember rushing home that day to apply the patch
I also didn't know you could split legs and have one joint limbs. Really makes me want to play again
I knew you could but for some reason it never occurred to me to use that to get multiple feet bonuses on one set of legs.
But how do you do it

I was in love with Spore as I was a child. The idea and the gameplay caught me back then and I wanted this game. I even cried at my parents in the store to buy it for me (I know, I was terrible as a child). My whole free time got into Spore, I don't even want to know how many hours I've put into the main game itself. Now seeing this awesome speed run of yours, also analysing it was incredibly enjoyable.

The tribal stage part was hilarious 😭 the epic, the baby growing up, the grown up baby dying, the epic walking way with a spear in its face, the other tribes attacking you as soon as they spawn. Love this game

Civ stage: Giva a city that doesnt like you 10000 sporebucks and they will still attack you
The tribe needed the food, but that City didn't need those Sporebucks.

"Eating ice can be a truly eye opening experience. " - This sentence has struck me and since then I've never been the same. At first I thought it was simply an attempt at humour, naturally, I ignored it and kept living my life, but something about it stuck with me. Suddenly for days, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat or do anything with this sentence popping in my mind over and over again. It began to drain me, I knew I had to do something about it. At about the same time, weather reports announced that snow would fall up north, I knew what I had to do. I drove to the most nothern city in my country and stepped out, I hesitated, was I really going to do this? If I don't I doubt I'll be able to have a peaceful night. I picked up a handfull of snow and shoved it in my mouth, my brain froze, my teeth shook, my eyes watered and my third eye was, finally, opened.

And only one player by planet on the space stage. But I have no idea for the space stage.

This was a great watch. I learnt things I never knew (looting tribes in Civ stage!) and thought you handled the chaos of early Tribal stage well. I thought your explanations throughout were very clear as well. Nice work. I may have to dig out my old CDs and reinstall.
it's well known that ducky made it that far into cell stage because of its tendency to help weary programmers debug their code during 5am crunch time

As someone who owned spore since when my older brother bought it when I was barely 6, I've been in love with Spore. The game that teached me english and a bit of reading // writing seeing some attention today makes me really happy. Amazing speedrun :)

I remember when I first started speed running Spore, completing Space in 12 minutes (even with wormholes!) was blazing fast lol. Definitely a community effort to push Space and the rest of the game this fast! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Thank you! I never expected this video to do this well. I've never gotten more than 20k views on anything I've done on UA-cam in 8 years. I am so thankful there is so much interest and excitement and I plan to make more Spore videos too. I have some individual Stage Spore record videos on UA-cam that don't have commentary that I plan to add commentary to hopefully keep the interest levels up!

That applies to every ship that shoots at you for some reason; if you never stop moving, they can't hit you. Once you stop and hover over a star, you can't lose them without leaving their territory.

I've never cared for speedrunning before, and I've never really watched all the way through a speedrun, but this one had me watching with glee! The asymmetric limb thing really makes your character look cute and ridiculous, it's very funny :-) but I like it, AIUI you basically get as much advantage as if you had two pairs of legs and arms? I also like the advice you gave for the cell stage, I was very impressed at how useful the horns are (I rarely used them if at all!), and also liked the triple-mouth trick! Really cool run :-) I think I'll watch your 45:46 normal run next!

I believe breaking apart the legs into usable arms and legs are functionally identical to having both sets of limbs, even if it makes the creature waddle around, since speed of the creature is based on the feet speed. And this saves a great deal of DNA not needing to buy a separate pair of arms!

Honestly, really great commentary and knowledge/insight about the game. Idk how this popped in my recommended but it was a really good watch! Loved the detail you went into with how certain parts of the game work, like the mechanics of tribal stage and how other tribes spawn. Really well done!
this is incredible! i got nostalgic and looked up spore after not thinking about it for years. i never got past the tribal stage as a kid because it stressed me out too much. i never knew it got so complicated!

I'm super glad this got recommended to me, Spore played a big role in my childhood and I did see a few speedruns of this game before, but the fact that yours has such a great commentary makes it really entertaining to watch. Great run and great video!
I loved this game when I was little when it came out, seeing all the new creations online was so cool to 7 year old me. Can't believe that was 13 years ago. Really like the commentary, super nice to listen to after a long day! Good job buddy
