As an enjoyer of Pokémon VGC, hearing the words "Shellos is potentially the worst pokémon you could have encountered on this route." is killing me. Gastrodon is SUCH a strong pokémon!
@@ageridthesilverdragon4440 I think sandshrew would have been harder to beat for the fire bug considering the fact that fire is weak to ground and sandshrew does not waste turns clicking Harden, but I suppose that could have been what they meant. And if the fire spider is also a bug type (don't remember if that was mentioned), sandshrew could have hit it with rollout if the DM gave it that move. Now THAT'S a LOT of damage.
Without context this does seem like they were being disrespectful….. now that I have reached that point in the video and I know it showed up to fight Jazza's fire type…. Nah, it was definitely the worst possible encounter he could have had…..
That was so fun!!! I have two small requests: 1) can the dice cam be zoomed out or re-sized so we don't cut off the dice in the edges (kinda defeats the purpose of showing us) and 2) can you show the cards you're using to the camera before/after handing them over. If you're going to the effort of making them it'd be so nice to see them and give the game-like experience of it popping up on screen. 😊 These characters are so cute. El's Stormy is especially adorable! ❤~Gillzybean
Yes I agree. And I think they should show us trainers occasionaly, when they are using their abilites for example. Maybe they can focus camera on pokemon card so we can see abilities and spirit when they are using them.
They do actually eat pokemon as produce. In Gold & Silver, they're selling Slowpoke tails as consumables, you just can't afford them,. In season 1, Ash asks Professor Oak if he'd eaten his Krabby.
The introductions are cracking me up. "So, what was your stumbling block to reaching the championship?" Brad: "I don't know, thinking is hard :( My uncle is pretty cool though!" Melanie/Victor: "Oh, y'know, I was really the best trainer. I could've totally been the champion or whatever, wouldn't be any big deal, but I just, y'know, realized I was so much cooler than just some simple little champion, and that I was just as good at being cool and helpful somewhere else as I would have totally been at beating up everyone, so I did that instead!"
Can I say that I loved Jazza reassuring Dave that everyone was having fun and the game is awesome when he was about to apologize for something he thought they wouldn’t like
yesyesyesyesYES!! I've been SO excited for this series, and the first episode lived up to all the hype I had!! Murray made me cry laughing during it, and the whole vibe of the episode was just fun and giddy! I can't wait for more!!
I’ve been running a Pokemon DnD-esque tabletop with friends for the past 6~ months, cool to see a way higher quality version. Hope it goes well, and looking forward to see how you’ve done mechanics and such!
Dave, Jazza, Jenn, Murray, El, are all such charming people. Such a great, creative group. I've used this story to relax to until I've fallen asleep for the past two nights. It's so calming, but I'm going to complete it tonight. This is a fun story and I absolutely love the characters. Well done, you talented people!
Its fun to go through the episode with your own character in mind and think about how they would react. For example, I can tell immediately that Brad hasn’t done much field work. Stormy would ask me if she could help and I’d be like “abso-fuckin-loutely, do you know how to climb trees?”
Been hooked on Pokémon for a few months now, never played as a kid. And man, seeing 2 of my favorite hobbies clash and come together like this is awesome. So excited for this!
im hoping that insert art and tabletop time will make the pokemons evolution when they get strong enough. since seeing them being made and then being played is just so cool
So cute, so creative, so cool!!! I love that every ones character design sort of resemble them! Especially Jen and Jazza! I know next to nothing about Pokemon... but I really enjoy that I can still jump on the band wagon and be super entertained by this champaign. Great job❤ also, Dave played Karl PERFECTLY!!! 7 year olds are to chaotic for this world
I'll admit I have never played nor watched any table top games before tonight. I'm quite keen to learn. Watching these guys and girls play this is great and entertaining, the detail and the extent they go to with setting the scenes etc is cool. This has peaked my interests and might have to watch some more
I really like this latest RP adventure! :) Also I agree with ASMRCatSounds to put the card on the screen somehow, it would tie in nicely with the gameplay. I identify with Brad the most in this game, though for some reason he sounds suspiciously like Cody from another game...🤔 And I like how the Pokemon in this game are based on Australian animals, it's a nice touch. :)
Interesting decision for these trainers to get starter Pokemon in 2009 that haven't even evolved 1 stage in 2024. I know they tried to explain it away as the trainers not having good battle acumen, but I feel like even limited training over 15 years would have at least evolved a Pokemon once. Either that or they chose not to allow their Pokemon to evolve (possibly with everstones) which could possibly be a decision they all made because of their poor battle acumen and would have assisted in their failures with the gym challenge/Pokemon league. I think the non-evolved, 15 year old starters needed a little more flushing out. Even still I am enjoying the story and I appreciate the work that went into this.
This is cool! I've had a go at developing my own Pokemon fanmade TTRPG system, it's such a difficult world to tackle, with all the variety when it comes to Pokemon, types, stats, etc. etc. I slaved over it for a long time and never got it to a place I was happy with. I'm glad to see people having fun with a similar project and can't wait to see what else the new system can do!
The Silph CO’s Pokémon Item Storage System definitely needs to have a name change I think… especially with the acronym it has. Other than that, this episode was great! Loved listening to it while I worked.
Didn’t think I’d end up watching a pokemon ttrpg live play, but damn if it wasn’t awesome. Thanks, hope you keep going! Me and a friend have wanted to start a game like this, looks very fun.
I may have missed this while watching but the custom starters are hand made/modeled? or are they 3d printed? Also, what about the shellos and tyrogue? 3D print or hand made? I don't know if I have the skill to make hand made pokemon like that but is there a good resource for good quality pokemon minis? I can paint them myself! Either way this is amazing and I absolutely have to run this system and a pokemon ttrpg in the future!!! Even if I have to run it with no minis and just do "theater of the mind" style or even paper prints or something...
I'm just 5min deep into the introduction of that new homebrewed awesomeness, but do you have a companion mechanic for the pokemon? if not, i think something like that would enable the GM to "enforce" more interaction with the monsters and i'm certain it would be easily transferable to other themes :D
i have been working on a 5e pokemon campaign and im perplexed by the mechanical choice of having the party system where the players take turns making decisions and being party leader. i would feel like the players would feel left out when combat happens or certain Protagonist syndrome players may be reluctant or even refuse to give up the role of party leader and causing issues. i would have made it more tile based combat like Final Fantasy Tactics where the players and pokemon end up on a grid with different obstacles and the players can decide which pokemon they go against with a mechanic where depending on the direction they are facing they can gain advantages or disadvantages such as higher crit chance or lower hit percentages depeding on the situation. you could even make the trainers a part of it so they have to be within a certain amount of tiles in order to use things like potions, berries, or x items.
@@TabletopTimeRoleplay after watching several episodes, something i noticed was that combat was super quick and uncomplicated, which i like. and i understand that rotating after each combat gives each player a turn at the helm, idk i just feel like if it was implemented this way for other types of players some would take issue with it because they would have nothing to do except 1 - 3 abilities that some require spirit to perform.
Get started, start getting invested in the style: Custom starters. Why? Like, no knock against everyone who does like them, but it just cannot grab my attention and I can’t get invested
I have 5e rules for pokemon that got taken down. But I'm wondering how to get more adventures? I only have the 3(or4?) Gyms for Kanto that came with the 5e rules.
I truly would like to get into this channel, (still left a subscribe) The audio is really hard to listen to, guess I got sensitive ears? HOPE THE SERIES GOES GREAT! Love yall!
@@TabletopTimeRoleplayHi for me the audio has an echo that is very distracting sometimes. It's like the mic levels aren't balanced properly to isolate the player's voices, resulting in a noisy audio capture. It's better when someone is almost eating the mic, however when there's a bit of distance it starts picking up everything else. And when everyone laughs all at once there's some peak and crunch. I would check audio compression also just in case of any loss in quality.
You might have been thinking about the vod from the live stream? They tidy it up and cut out some of the stream nonsense for the official UA-cam video, doing some light editing. So that's this video.
Question is this series meant to be a collab pr something like that with subjectively given he also has a fan made region called the Mazah region or is that just a wild coincidence Also, Brad’s voice reminds me of the meme Deku voice but lower pitched and every time he speaks I get trauma flashbacks from the “I’m back from Popeyes” video
That was just a nod to another big fan work with a lot of love behind it - Briefly mentioned - This story is set in the Perdito region, of our own devising

I'm sorry there is so much Warhammer content like this but I find this to be much more unique with a lot more opportunities it produces. Give it a chance it's fun!
When the hardened move got used multiple times, my eye twitched a bit from passed traumatic Pokémon battles…
It’s too real… Dave knows the game AI too well.
As an enjoyer of Pokémon VGC, hearing the words "Shellos is potentially the worst pokémon you could have encountered on this route." is killing me. Gastrodon is SUCH a strong pokémon!
i think it is since it was the fire pokemon that was fighting it.
since the rest of the pokemon on the route is ground, bug, and flying. where the fire pokemon wouldn't have a type disadventces

Not to mention sandwiches in SV are made with Pokemon parts. Literally just bits of pokemon that fall off naturally.
Also Jesse and James mentionn about eating a Magikarp. Though MAgikarp wasn't edible it shows that eating pokemon is a common practice
The mention of the waist high ledge is the best.
S.S. Costa crashes leaving everyone stranded or dead, meanwhile S.S. Starbucks moves past unimpeded.
