Visiting All Nottingham Tram Stops

  • There are 50 stops on the NET - that's the Nottingham Tram system, and here's why happened when myself and friend Jono (who's from Nottingham) got on and off at all the stops on the network.
    Note, we weren't timing ourselves to set a "record" time, but but it took us roughly 6 hours in the end, including tea break!
    Correction: I've spelled one of the stops 'Bramcoat Lane', when it should of course be 'Bramcote Lane'
    If you want a copy of my Nottingham Tram map, it's available here on my Downloads page: geofftech.co.u...
    The 'Tram' T-shirt (and other variants) is available to buy, here: dztz.store/lis...

    It's been about 25 years since I last went to Nottingham and there wasn't a tram system back then. It is great to see Nottingham providing this type of public transport, I hope it is reasonably priced for encourage people to use it instead of using a car.

    I'm from Rotterdam and used to live near Nottingham (I now live in Dundee). When the Nottingham trams were being planned, some people on the project went to Rotterdam and looked at the tram system there. The trams in Nottingham now look like a carbon copy of the trams in Rotterdam, including the same colour scheme. The name of the transport company in Rotterdam is RET and both logos are very similar as well. It was quite funny to see for me when I first started using the Nottingham trams...

    Just a fun fact for you from someone whose special interest encompasses the lost Nottingham railway tunnels- the tunnel that the Nottingham Contemporary sits in the cutting for isn't buried underneath the art gallery, the art gallery was literally built against the tunnel portal, sealing it off forever. Apparently there's still access to the tunnel hidden in both the Contemporary on the Weekday Cross end and the Victoria Shopping Centre on the Victoria Station end, but of course it's entirely non-public.
    I hate the Contemporary, not least because it hid a beautiful piece of Victorian railway infrastructure from view forever, but also because it looks like someone threw up on a bunch of lace and papier mache'd it into a blocky, ugly building.

    • @johnd6487
      @johnd6487 3 роки тому

      With you on the Contemporary, I loved Garners Hill, even if was a bit of knocking shop after dusk.. but I have always wondered about the weird little extended part of Vic Centre car park (the John Lewis end, where it carries on for a dozen spaces or so through a wall).. the walls either side look like they’ve been built on top/ front edge of the old station platforms
