Thank you again and again. Please play The Lady Vanishes soon and The Third Man, all movies with original camera angles and wonderful comedic lines. Nothing today rivals these films. I am grateful.
Modern films have so much extra thrown in (sex, car chases, CGI, noise) that they forget about telling a good story. I've always enjoyed a good character study, I think that's why I'm drawn to older films. Old films let you get to know the characters. Rather than tje quick kiss of relief and gratitude in the farmhouse today's film would have had them in bed together. That would take minutes away that could have been better used to find a plot or let us get to know the characters they want us to feel some way about. These old films are far more satisfying for me. Something to be said for letting the imagination fill in the blanks.
I find colorization to be distracting. I don't know if it degrades over time or what but seeing things turn pink or yellowish, well, it takes me out of the film. I end up paying more attention to the color than the film. I've never minded B&W. My first color TV experience was walking in my aunt and uncle's house and Gilligan's Island was on. The lush greens, the bright blue and red of Gilligan and the Skipper. I was born in 1957.

It was a fine movie. Liked also the John Buchan novel, that read before watching the Hitchcock film. Read it when fourteen and yes, it's a good read for teens, too. Hitchcock did a good job with this. 😔🙏😇

The start of this film opened the curtain in acount of setting the stage of this diabolical thriller. But, some of this movie seemed like a copy-cat of other films. For instance: The daVinci code by way of portraying 39 steps along with the brill-stein window by way of showing an image of the woman that got stabbed on a map (get it) who predicts the trail, ect ect. The finally, took its course by a resolved of from festeration on the part of the actor to a genius finale. Good work Mr. Hitchcock you did it again...........

What I learned from this movie: If you’re on the run wanted for murder, it’s probably not a good idea to tell everyone you meet that you’re on the run wanted for murder.
I think it was implied that he was hoping to “get lucky” when a woman asks a man if she can go home with him for the night. Most men would say yes, even to a woman they just met. In that way, it’s realistic.
Aw, come on! Popeye IS a classic! There were a couple longer Popeye films. The "new lamps for old" one and 40 thieves one. I cannot give you titles but I loved those two Popeye offerings. I just might try to find them after I finish "The 39 Steps". Born in 57.
Wow, still such a powerful film. Truly one of Hitchcock’s masterpieces.
And he has many!!

good to see you corrected your previous comment, cool.
Both great movies that share the same device of trying to remember a tune. Hitchcock was a master even in the 30s.
Hitchcock est la crème de la crème. Merci pour ce grand film.
My personal favorite Hitchcock film. The scene in the hotel where he talks about his life of crime is hilarious.
So glad you still uploaded the original black and white version…. Love Hitchcock 😊

Colorize a Hitchcock classic?
Blasphemous!
I have seen at least 4 versions of the 39 steps - but this remains to me the best, The Milkman scene is classic
That scene with Robert Donat and Frederick Piper (who plays the milkman) is brilliant.
