This has to be at least the third time I have enjoyed watching this most entertaining and suspenseful picture. Alfred Hitchcock directing Dame May Witty, Margaret Lockwood, Michael Redgrave, Paul Lukas, et al. TY Retro Central for uploading this gem!
Simply the best comedy-thriller ever made, it zips along and is as enjoyable today as on its release in the 1930s. Full of incident and comic invention. Thank you for upload.
My go to film is the Verger, the first of the trilogy based on the short stories of Sommerset Maugham, TRIO. Three short are "The Verger", "Mr. Know-All", and "The Sanatorium" Delightful all, short films but the Verger is the best for me.The Sanatorium is very touching.
When he had gone out the window and was working his way down the side and the other train 🚂 passed, I actually flinched as if I were trying to keep from being crushed between the two trains. 🚂🚂🚂
❤❤ how can we find out if there's a cameo of Alfred in this movie I think I saw him at towards the end at the railroad station but of course I'm not sure
I love ❤️ the: Stiff upper lip attitude of the British. One of my favorite jokes is: An English man laughs at a joke 3 times. Once when he hears it. Once when he retells it, and once when he gets it. 😅😅😅😅😅
Im not a man but fit the joke picture. Haha. My oldest of 5 brothers has always had to explain his jokes to me. I suspect he inherited the Irish and I the English.
Alfred Hitchcock filmlerinde hep iyiler kazanır dikkat edilmesi gereken nokta bu 😊🎥🎬 Bayan Froy bulunacak okadar bayan Froyu bulduracağım senaryo gerçek bir prodüktörden Alfred teşekkürler derin saygı
Enjoyed watching this classic movie, 💕 each nd every sec of it,I really wanna know how they were able 2 make these amazing movies in those old times,I mean obvs they had the equipment 2 make movies but still what equipments were they,I want 2 go 2 that classic era and meet all these mind blowing actors,I wanna see their movie shooting etc etc, meet all the beautiful classic actresses etc etc 😘,wish I could time travel 2 that classic period 😢.
WHEN I SEARCHED THE MUSIC M REDGRAVE HUMMED IT CAME UP AS MACGUFFIN, THE WORD HITCHCOCK USED TO DESCRIBE WHAT WAS SOUGHT OR WANTED IN HIS MOVIES ********WHAT EVERYONE WAS AFTER,*******SNEAKY DEVIL!!!!!
One of the most purely entertaining and delightful films ever produced. It was, of course, a shame that it was not felt possible at the time to portray Nazis as Nazis but had to make them some vaguely dangerous foreign power. The opening model shot is almost laughably unconvincing when viewed today, but that's all they had at the time.
On the big screen in 1938-39 the opening scene would not have been so crisp and clear as this digitally re-processed version. The picture would have been in considerably lower resolution, moderately out of focus being replayed drom a lower-resolution reprint, etc. In its day, what the moviegoers saw would have been more convincing.
I'm very curious about an Alfred Hitchcock cameo in this movie❤... I do not know if there is one but I'm wondering if the if there was if it was at the end at the train station there was a man that got on into a taxi... it looked like it could have been Alfred Hitchcock....❤ I'm wondering if the movie restorers missed this... it could have been restored better at his face..
At the 1:33:24 mark, he is walking while holding a lunchbox in his left hand, his ha t in his right hand and a cigarette is in his mouth. Click 1:33:24 and watch.

Ne fecero un bel remake!
Wonderful. The two British gentleman are priceless and the ending is really great.
They play the same characters in another film called " Night Train to Munich" ( 1940) which also stars Margaret lockwood from this film.
W O W !!!!! what a movie !!!! and made in 1938 !!!!!
I loved this film as a child back in the 1950's. I watch it constantly. It is like comfort food to me:
I know what you mean I regularly watch "The Lady killers" makes me so happy ❤
Same here - never fails 🙂

Shame the British sense of humour didn't rub off on you, as well as loving the stiff upper lip
Most amusing my good man 😂
Im not a man but fit the joke picture. Haha. My oldest of 5 brothers has always had to explain his jokes to me. I suspect he inherited the Irish and I the English.
@@BeeLZBeebsounds like British humor to me, or maybe it’s Irish humor about the British 🤔🤭
@jeanneratterman4174 lol, your last point tings true tbh, could be Welsh or Scottish, too, ...about the English I'm guessing you meant
Outstanding film, superlatives are not enough.

You shouldn't judge a country by its politics. After all, we English are quite honest by nature !!!! 😄😄😄
now that's a joke
@@gregoryswanepoel6328....how so ?
😊
Violent by nature more like!!! 😂😂😂
British you mean
Lovely movie ! Doesn't Miss Froy resemble Agatha Christie who herself disappeared at one point of time ?
Wonderful movie! One out of the box!

Alfred Hitchcoc movie,, 1927,, it's a talkie....,,Down Hill..
Amazing movie,❤ it.
I'd like to see this in Color. Yes, B&W is effective in CERTAIN scenes in horror movies, but the Real World is still in Technicolor.
Look for the movie.... Down Hill

How can I stop the many ads?!
Absolutely Grand !! Marvelous 🎯💯‼️

I wish my fellow English subjects still loved England and were willing to defend her.
…in a slightly larger quantity it induces madness… Scared the living **** out of me when I was a little kid.
The old lady looks like Mrs. Trimble.
A wonderful period piece. But full of clichés and endearing but predictable types !
Too many loud ads made this timeless movie a pass

at about 1:33:24 I see Sir Alfred doing his cameo appearance
Quite a risqué joke at 36:12 for 1930’s. Did the Brits have a Hays Code like in the US?
