Bobbi, your hydrangeas look wonderful limbed up! They look like gorgeous small trees. I don't get blooms on my older Macrophylla hydrangeas, however, the newer varieties and any of the Paniculata and Annabelle hydrangeas grow great in my area, so for the past 4 or 5 years, I've added several new varieties each year. They are pretty hardy plants, and very forgiving in how they grow and fill out (even when we think they won't survive the haircut we gave them). Blessings to you and your sweet William. ~Margie🤗🦋💐🐞
@@greenthumbelina7331 Hi Margie! I think you are correct. Most shrubs are pretty forgiving! I cut my paniculatas back every year but not nearly as severely as I did this year. Sure am happy they “forgave” me 😃Blessings to you as well my friend 🤗🌸
@@Bao_Tram Thanks so much! Just this evening there were 2 doe and 2 fawns eating the smaller Mini Mauvette! Grrr…they don’t usually come that close to the house. I sprayed it with Liquid Fence. That has worked for me for years thankfully! Thanks for watching my friend 🌸
Hi Bobbi, your hydrangeas are beautiful. I personally love the limbed up look. We are now having some of that heat here in Iowa. Thank the good Lord for air conditioning 😊❤️❤️
Thank you Vicki! I’m sorry you are experiencing the blast of heat! It has cooled down here a bit thankfully. Yes, I agree, so blessed to have air conditioning 👍🏻
@@newt52864 Oh no! I had 2 Bobo and I don’t mean to discourage you but mine kind of went downhill after a few years. I’m not sure if I did something wrong or it was them. Maybe it is just an “off” year for yours. Let’s hope that’s the case!
Why limb up the shrubs? Is it just for looks or another reason. I have regular limelight and little limelight and have never limbed up so now wondering if I should.
@@joycearthur5244 Hi there! I feel that limbing up my shrubs helps with airflow and I feel it can make for a stronger shrub. I limb up shrubs like my Lilacs of course the paniculatas and we limb up all of our trees. I do love the look of a limbed up shrub but I don’t feel there is any harm if you don’t limb them up. It also makes it easier to mulch and work around them when they are limbed up. I actually limb up my dahlias and my tomatoes. Not all shrubs need to be limbed up but some certainly do benefit from it. Hope this all makes sense 🤗 Thanks so much for watching!
