For your production area I would say you can go into the wooded area right near there and rake as many leaves as you can all year and add to the base of your plants for mulch . This easily available source will help them enormously. Pile it around the base . I usually add at least 3 inches every year in the fall . The leaves are free . You could have dug some into the soil gently with a fork when they breakdown. That is really far from your house maybe it should have been closer . It's not impossible to start a new leader on your Leyland Cypress all you need to do is stake one branch and sparingly trim other branches. It will start to put energy into another leader it just takes time . There is lots of useful information on the internet that will help. Don't rely on myth and hearsay to inform you . The willow would be better suited to the bottom of hill. Please mulch at the base of your plants the leaves are free in the woods .
Hi! Thanks for your input! I definitely use leaves and make my own leaf mulch by using a leaf grinder. The area where I placed all of these shrubs etc was definitely a “test area” to see if in fact anything would do well. I did not want to plant the willow closer to my house and I knew it was risky planting it in that area but again, I wanted to give it a try. As for my he Leylands, they are basically large evergreen shrubs for me now and that’s fine with me. The deer still tend to rub out the leaders. I have switched to Green Giants now which is a better evergreen for our area. Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR DEAR FAMILY,

You can use laundry basket for cloching your plants as well
Yes, you sure can! I would definitely make holes in the bottom (top) of the laundry basket though for proper irrigation for the plant. Thanks for watching!

@@mienkedezoete2146 Thank you! I’ll be sure and share the pruning of my Red Twig Dogwood with everyone. It will be late winter probably around the end of February/early March.
Fabulous idea! It's so beautiful. Don't you love to go out and forage greens!
@@petefredrick3784 Thanks so much! Yes, foraging in the woods is one of my favorite things to do!
Gorgeous! I have a decorated dry floral tree from my cut flower garden. I just makes me happy remembering those beautiful flowers from the summer month.
@@petefredrick3784 Thank you! I’m happy you have a dried flower tree too. It’s definitely rewarding to grow and dry your own flowers and then use them in the home!
I love this garland. Harvesting from your own property I find to be so satisfying. On another note, you look so cute in the stocking cap and not everyone can say that.
@@bethlynch1909 Hi Beth! I am so very thankful to have lots of goodies to forage here on the farm. Not sure how I got so blessed to marry into this beautiful family land! Thank you for saying that about the stocking hat :) honestly, I would wear a hat of some kind all the time if I could get away with it. Thanks for being here!

Thanks Renee. Mine too!
Bobbi, your skinny dried flower tree is gorgeously decorated, and I'm looking forward to seeing your part 2 video. I purchased a pencil tree this year and can't wait to decorate it, but cleaning and rearranging my furniture is necessary before I can start decorating. ~Margie🌹🌲
@@greenthumbelina7331 Thank you Margie! Yes, I always like to clean and rearrange furniture as well but sometimes I just need to jump in there and decorate and clean as I go ☺️🤗🎄
At what times should the bulbs be watered, and did you insulate them any with straw or leaves?
@@rowecropfarm Hi! I lined the crates with cardboard before I put the soil in. I usually top all of my containers including the crates with crushed leaves but straw will work too. As for watering, that depends largely on what zone you are in and whether you will leave the crates outdoors or bring them in an unheated area. I leave all of mine outdoors (zone 6b/7). Usually, mine get enough water over the winter and I start watering when I see them starting to pop through (if we are not getting rain). It’s very important to not overwater so that the bulb will not rot. Hope this answers your questions.
@@GardeningOnTaylorMountain yes, thank you for the information!

Love it 🤩 I remember the pumpkin seed decorations,so cute🥰 Where did you pick up such a thin tree. I would love to do that in my dining room !
Thank you so much! My grand girls were great at making the pumpkin seed ornaments. They are tedious and require a lot of patience ☺️ I bought the 7’ pencil tree from Michael’s. They’ve had those for the past several years.
