Cool Paul, I remember you commented once how you love lava rock for wicking and semi hydro, and aloes are lovely, I like to have a few around too. I used to grow mine in rocky pebble substrate and slotted pots then just soak them for a day or two, then let them sit out dry for the rest of the time. They liked it but it became too labor intensive with all the succulents in rock. They grew so well though! I kind of would like to do it again. This seems like you figured out a way to do it, but with less care! Smart. 😉
