Yes I just just gave birth well had my first c section after I had 2 vaginal years ago but man Lacey did awesome explaining it all .. My baby though was born a month early and had to go into the NICU for a few weeks and I had to stay in the hospital for 6 days my self because of my diabetes man it was scary but all first time mom's should definitely watch this or even if they were like me I have a 17 year old son then a 10 year old son now me and my husband just had our very first babygirl 9 weeks ago so it was a long time for me so I called my sister and my niece to update me in what to pack lol.. it was totally different now then 10 years ago and then I had an emergency C-section so it was definitely different but I was so proud of my self I did it with no pain medicine I was surprised because I'm a big sissy to pain lol..

Exactly!! I hardly knew anything. And no one told me that it hurts to breast feed. I tried so hard! It hurt way too much, and my son was having issues latching, so I did not breast feed. I was sooo bummed out about it. I have a really low pain tolerance, so maybe that was it.

In all reality most of these things weren't available in the 70's when I had my 3 babies and we all managed just fine. Some of them I might have used if available but only one or two because they are so expensive. Definitely way more stuff now than when even I was born in the 50's.

    • @amyrivers4093
      @amyrivers4093 Рік тому

@@PositiveVibesOnly37don't be hard on yourself. I can assure you that a lot of Mum's and babies struggle to breastfeed. Don't let people who tell you it was easy I breastfed mine for a long time make you think you did anything wrong. You would be surprised how many women find breastfeeding painful so you may not have a lot pain tolerance. Good luck with your journey through life.😊

Yes everyone labors/delivers differently so knowing these things is greatly appreciated. I love how Aubrey and Addie were there to learn more about motherhood and what it takes. I love how y'all never hold anything back and tell it like it is. I have never given birth myself but have been there and wish we had then what they have now. Take EVERYTHING that the hospital has used for your baby like the diapers, wipes anything like that because you are charged for it so might as well take it with you, most of the times whatever is left behind the hospital will just throw away. The best advice I received (but didn't take) was to stock up on all supplies at the hospital. They load the baby cart with diapers, wipes, etc, so pack an extra bag for the supplies. They have to replenish, so may as well get as many free items. The diapers are your best bet from the cart!

I honestly didn’t stress about bringing all the things they provide at the hospital, they provide most everything that they charge you for anyway, so I took advantage of getting my moneys worth (ask and they will provide you with more). I only took toiletries, some cute pjs where I could feed baby on demand, and a change of clothes for going home. For the baby I took a pump, 2 baby to go outfits, and baby blankets. All you really focus on once your in the hospital is baby & sleep. I do suggest to buy a basket (put where is best accessible near toilet) with all the healing V essentials and keep it organized in the restroom (of you home), witch hazel pads, heavy duty pads, a bottle for water(the one that they gifted you is great), extra undies (just in case of an accident). Having that basket was so helpful to me.

Hi Crazy Middles! I love how you helped Destiny with her hospital bag and she got a lot of essentials. If you want to add a little extra comfort and convenience, you might want to consider including a few more items like entertainment options(a book, tablet, or headphones), a reusable water bottle with a straw for easy sipping so you don't have to sit up, some cozy pajamas or loungewear for post-birth relaxation, a nursing pillow for breastfeeding comfort, and some music or relaxation aids.
I am not a mom myself, but I did some research and watched a few videos to learn more about what might be helpful. I am an aunt, so I've picked up a few tips along the way. Destiny seems to be well prepared, but I thought these extra items could make her hospital experience even better. Best wishes to her and your family!

Thank you to Lacey for keeping it real. I think in this day and age it's time to stop whispering or denying what really happens or what you need and why and just talk about it because it's helping a lot of soon to be mothers know what to bring.
I would say for dad to bring some entertainment things because labor can be very long and you may just need some light and funny things to try to keep mom or himself entertained while you wait until it's go time or contractions get to be too much to concentrate. You might also want to bring/hire someone to take photos when the baby is born so you can concentrate on the baby but still get those first moments on camera.

Thank you Lacey for your great explanations....I am sure that all of that will help Destiny. Some things I would recommend are: Calendula Oil...great for babies who have dry skin, you can put a couple of drops in the bath water and also its great for massaging baby after bath time. Baby brain is a THING...so I always recommend having a notebook and pen...note down each time you feed baby, how long for and which side you finished on. Also note nappy changes and what was in them, you will be surprised how short your memory is for the first few weeks and when the midwife or doctor asks how often baby is feeding, sleeping and how many nappies (usually number 2's) they have had in the last 24 hours you will be able to bring out your trusty notebook to show them exactly what's been going on. Definitely get some nipple cream and make sure to have a bottle with a newborn teat and some formula just in case you are having issues with breast feeding....that's a life saver in the middle of the night...trust me! Remember a fed baby is a happy baby, so don't beat yourself up if it takes a little while to get into the rhythm. Huge hugz from New Zealand and I am so looking forward to seeing your wee man when he arrives. xx

Love the hospital suitcase.. great stuff in it.. I would just add put some extra cash (dollars) in one of the totes for vending machines sometimes the cc machine part doesn't work. And take your pillows, hospital's are always flat. Lol

We put a couple of drops of essential oil in our sanitizer. Maybe lavender or something you like the smell of?

I have a wet brush for myself and one for my daughter and it's perfect for brushing a child's hair. doesn't pull and brushes great. I wish I had one for her when she was much younger. also I wish I knew all the stuff about witch hazel when I had my daughter 7 years ago. Also slippers are a great idea. My mom got me some and I still have them.

Destiny if the hospital lets you, when you get ready to leave the hospital take all the extra diapers they are willing to give you. My hospital allowed us to take a lot of diapers.

I wish we had some of these products back when I had children 🤣 I was lucky in one area, my aunt worked in the hospital medical supply industry and the were trying out a new product, ‘ice pack, menstrual pads’ they were amazing, you popped them to activate the cold, it was so soothing and she stocked me up with them 😂

also scratch mitts for the baby. They sometimes come out with long fingernails and can scratch their own face.

I would suggest opening & washing everything with dreft. It’s a pain to open up all the packaging at the hospital.
Dylan needs to pack some stuff for himself too, like snacks, a book or something to do if her labor lasts longer there is a lot of just sitting around & waiting.

I would bring an insulated water bottle, like a Stanley, to help keep her water cold. She’s gonna need to stay hydrated after giving birth. Plus if she’s particular to her pillow, I’d bring it. The hospital has thin pillows. A nursing pillow is also good.
