Not related to this video but I’m having great difficulty turning the hips without throwing the trail hip forward any ideas on what I can do to stop this ?
An excellent recommendation and demonstration Alex on how to master the downswing! I really liked the recommended drill and I will doing this one. Although not always successful, I try to get my right shoulder and side more involved in the downswing! Good Job Alex! Keep up the Good Work!!!
Thank you! Thank you! This was an EXCELLENT video!!! Had my very best ball-striking day in a LONG time. I'm 72 and almost shot my age on a Par 72 6169 yard course!! Felt like this practice move helps you "collect" the ball on the club face. Only had two (2) of my normal 'weak' fades to the right. I'm excited for my next practice session and subsequent round of golf. Thanks again.
As always love you videos as I'm a feel player... complicated movements are a struggle... this honestly one of the best tips I've ever had! I'm lucky that I can hit a long ball but always been in consistent and over the top.... played tonight and my launch monitor was regularly showing 170 + ball speed ... I can hit that but usually a muscle shot which hurts my back... this was effortless and exactly the tip to take my game to the next level! Thank you! 😊
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf We're getting so much rain over here in Newcastle Australia that it's difficult to actually get on a course without a boat! I'd show you my "practice range" at home but I fear it could go viral as a "WTF is he doing?" video 😂 But it works for me and yes, the tips have been implemented and have improved things. My next YT video to watch: How to chip so the ball doesn't run off the otherside of the green. Take care, mate.
Alex, really great lessons for someone like me who’s always tried to hit the ball without turning through. I can do one inside my house and the other in the garage. By April maybe I’ll see notable improvement!
The thing I notice on the Ben Hogan and Dustin Johnson swings are how open their hips are at impact. I think the drill you show will help with that. I really struggle with a random over the top move that shows up and ruins my swing.
Hello Alex…..love your videos! Have just gone through rotator cuff/torn bicep surgery…. Once I can once again start swinging a golf club, which will be awhile, is this a swing that is “friendly” on the body? If so I’ll work on this with my physical therapist
This puts more emphasis on body pivot controlling the move rather than the arms. It may well feel more stable. But don’t keep tension. Flow with structure. And if you’re getting back into it, use tees even with irons. Make sure you are not sweeping them too much but the tee will help less impact vibration and force. You still want to dislodge tee and graze the the grass past the ball. But maybe about divots etc
I know I'm a little late to the party. As a returning golfer I'm having to relearn everything and doing so as to better my enjoyment of the game. This is exactly what I need, thank you. 😊
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf you have already helped, thank you. I have a good feeling about this drill too, I just checked my swing video from yesterday and my shoulder completely comes across instead of down, and having read Hogans Fundamentals book I probably didnt apply this part yet. Looking forward to trying in the morning.
Very good as usual Alex. Sequence has to be in right order doesn’t it? No throwing out the right shoulder at the outset or we’re going over the top aren’t we?
@The Art of Simple Golf I usually deal with this by aiming several inches after the ball (depending on the length of the club). I never look at the ball as a target. The ball just gets in the way of the destination point which is several inches after the ball.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf to be honest, I figured this out on my own several years back. It's prob something that was known long before that but I wonder why none of my teachers ever imparted that knowledge.
Great video as usual. Well filmed and explained. By the way don't encourage our American friends to further mangle our language, "golf" is a noun not a verb. We play golf, we don't go golfing 🙄😉
It looks like the lead shoulder stays down longer and goes towards the lead leg, then the trail shoulder goes towards the ball. If the trail shoulder goes straight towards the ball then the weight will still be on the trail leg. Correct?
hello Alex Despite my attention to your demonstration A little after the 5th minute, I saw a deer pass behind you. This is the golfer's famous sense of observation Or the beginning of hallucinations. Anyway, thank you very much for your videos.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf actually from 5 minutes 18 seconds in the background in front of the house, just a few seconds and the deer appears then disappears from the screen. Have a good day

Totally planned :)

Glad you enjoyed it! Keep at it and keep the flow getting through as I discuss in the video. Impact is just a moment of movement.
The deer 🦌 at 5:15 is pretty cool!
I know right! Tons of them here.
This seems so much easier than right elbow first to shallow and right wrist locked back and facing down. Thanks.

Brilliant. Yes, brilliant! Great stuff, thanks Alex.

This looks amazing, can’t wait to try this drill!!
Hope you like it!
Great tip. Great simple instruction! Going to give it a try, have a tendency to leave my clubface open at impact, this may help me with this. Thanks!
It certainly should help that. 👍🏌️♂️
Great tips! Absolutely loved it 👍
Cheers and hope they are being implemented:) 👍🏌️♂️

Thanks 👍 🦌 🏌️♂️
Same action for driver?
Yep!
Please kindly to example this swing by driver
Ok 👍🏌🏽
I’ve been working on this move but I’ve started to shank a few
You are perhaps shifting towards the ball losing the space created at set up.
Keep chest down and legs flexed
Not as simple as your other videos but I get it.
Yeh.. some moves are important and a little more athletic and challenging. Requiring some practice to get. But it is simple really.
