144,000 N is about 31,000 pounds. "Newtons per second" is the worst science mistake I've seen him make. Units of newton's are already mass times acceleration which is kg times meters per second per second. Putting another per seconds in there doesn't make sense. Also, they could have traveled west all night to get >12 more hours of night to get to China.

I haven't actually seen the live action version, but to be fair to it's version of A Whole New World, Jasmine was kept fairly sheltered to the point where she'd have to sneak out to see just the area's around the palace. For her, being able to see a bunch of the relatively local things she's never gotten to see in her homeland before _WOULD_ be magical.

I have a theory that the magic carpet wasn't just travelling, it's teleportation of some kind.
During the moments between frames and scenes we could assume that the carpet teleported to another location in a blink, because they're above clouds most of the time, it'd be hard to spot the differences, allowing them to jump their way across the world like a sci-fi movie.

It was said that this story was Chinese in origin. Considering another famous Chinese mythical figure, the Monkey King from Journey to the West, has a nimbus cloud that could travel 108 thousand miles in a single flip, the magic carpet being imbued with similar traveling abilities isn't beyond imagination. There is also a form of mystical arts where long distances are shrunk into mere inches, so taking a couple of normal steps would put you hundreds or thousands of miles from where you started. Also an ability that can be imbued into the carpet and activated at will.

Kind of like a magic carpet version of what The Flash does.
Normally, anyone moving at speeds even close to what The Flash moves would be ripped to shreds. To get around this, DC hand-waves in some "protective field" that keeps him safe and not burning up from the friction. Flash can even extend this so he can carry people to safety without them turning into piles of smoldering ash.
So maybe carpet has its own protective field. It doesn't stop everything - since they still obviously feel a breeze - but it keeps it far below lethal levels.

He could have the bubble move in any direction and accelerate as fast as he wants and inside will feel no movement, nothing. In fact the kids have to bring Oxygen inside to be able to breath and a battery inside to power the computer that is creating this bubble. light can pass through it, nothing else. See if you watch Aladdin again, you'll notice that the time period of the movie is a dystopian future, where the civilization took a reset. There wasn't a wizard who created the carpet, but instead a scientist. The evidence actually lies in the movie itself, based on the items Genie shows to Aladdin in their first meet. The carpet is a proof that human civilization was at their prime, before the reset happened.

The problem with Belle being accused of Stockholm Syndrome is that neither she, the Beast, or the guests take the whole prisoner thing very seriously. She’s allowed to go anywhere she wants in the castle (except the West Wing), nobody stops her when she’s scared away, she actively makes the choice to save the Beast, and the Beast makes the choice to free her once she discovers her father is in danger. Again, the Beast really does learn to love her, and demonstrates this BY FREEING her! He learns to see her for who she is, and to respect her needs and wants!

One minor correction. Aladdin, without even realizing it, phrased his request "make me a prince". Not "make me LOOK LIKE a prince". Genie does consider this a wish as when he brings up the count at other times, it's already counted. So, Aladdin is a prince. Phenomenal cosmic power may not change Aladdin's memories, but it very well may have changed his lineage given it's ability to not only warp space, but also time.

Also also, I completely forgot in my first post that technically.. he already was a prince. Genie just kind of made him a more traditional, and publicly acceptable type of prince. The third movie confirms his lineage is already there as the Price of Thieves, lol. The Sultan never said it had to be a prince of some wonderful kingdom, or anything. Just "must be married to a prince". So that's an extra point for Al 😁

A good portion of Disney's films (especially the original films) were essentially upbeat takes on horror and tragedies from Grimm's Fairy Tales, so I'm betting dying would have been the least of his worries.

Did anyone think maybe genie created the different landmarks in the desert to make it look like they traveled the world. Genie created something similar to a amusement park ride with landmarks from different countries. you can see in the song friend like me his potential to create things without a wish being made. he also impersonates and italian so he knows a lot

I feel this is a good part of a larger theory, which states that the entire movie is a story by the merchant at the beginning to get you to buy the lamp, thus making the impossible things that happen just made up details by said merchant for effect.

Every time i've read about a magic carpet it always includes at the minimum sticky seating and wind resistance. Looks like this carpet allows some wind to flow but not much as Jasmine's hair and aladdin's cape are rarely billowing.

How do we know they were only gone for one day? Jasmine's dad was a very easily manipulated man, and Jafar did say he had Aladdin "executed" (even tho he failed) for kidnapping the princess. But by that point, logically only jasmine should have known about the marketplace stuff. So the kidnapping charge could've been for her disappearing for several days on that date of theirs.
I don't remember the scene word for word though.
Edit: the execution thing I'm thinking of was earlier in the movie. Later in the movie he said Prince Ali left and then Aladdin said check your crystal ball you tried to have me murdered. But that still doesn't answer the how do we know they were only gone one night.

i never thought about this until now, but it's kinda fitting that one of their destinations on the magic carpet ride was in China--the original _Arabian Nights_ story of Aladdin was actually explicitly SET in China (it's not especially authentic, though--it's basically given as just another Middle Eastern country with a sultan and everything, so i'm convinced that "China" is being used as a synonym for "very very very far away" in the story)

When I was a child, I always thought that the "A Whole New World" song took place over several days and that the carpet was magical so it could, of course, teleport them to anywhere in the world in a second. Because they couldn't visit all these places in one night unless they had some magical help.
