I went down to that loch (and the valley below it) to shelter from the wind and it was actually even worse. The valley (leading down to Glen Nevis) was like a wind tunnel, nearly destroyed my tent, hardly got any sleep.
@@WalkWithWallace why do they have to ruin everything 😫 just leave the full sugar varieties as they are ... anyone who has an issue can grab a minging diet can lol x stay safe
Excellent video Robin. Not only the content but also the panning and translations. Also some great camera angles too. Especially at the wire bridge. Looks great on the big tele.
Great video Robin👍 hoping to do the Mamores when I'm off with my Boys. You and Kev should have your own show, I've near peed my trousers with laughing. Keep the Adventures coming 👍
Nice camping spot! I did the RoS last Friday with three friends. I camped near Steall Falls. We all loved it - two of my friends found the wire bridge much scarier than the Devil's Ridge! We did most of the scramble at the beginning, but turned back at the slabby bit - thought the consequences of getting it wrong might be a bit harsh. Same with the Crux bit on the Devil's Ridge - I did most of it, but then bottled it at the downclimb. It just looked potentially a very long way down! Kev made it look easy. Maybe next time. The views were amazing.
Hey Natalie, Steall Meadows is a stunning place to camp, out of midge season. 😆 The scrambling isn't too bad, I missed the crux on the Devil's Ridge, the heavier camping pack put me off a bit. Cheers Robin
Haha laughed my ***s off when you camped next to a stream after hauling an extra 2kg over 3 Munro’s! Sort of thing I’d do. Great vid and commentary, not sure about the tarp though, it’s always blowing a houlie when I wild camp.
Lovely video Robin. Great views. Looked a hard climb with a great camp spot. Really enjoyed watching. We were around Fort William 18 April. Thanks Steve.
I did these about a week after Sgurr Ibhnuir (spelling) was demoted from a munro to a top, except I didn't know that at the time, so there I was, celebrating bagging 5 munros in a day to find out a few days later that it was really only 4, wasn't happy!
Haha, you would be raging, no social media back then either. When I done them first time around my colleague was working off an old book and he thought he got 5 Munros too. 😆
Great video Robin! I'm very familiar with all those mountains that rise up from Glen Nevis! This video has brought back great memories of ridge walking from back in the day before GoPros! Thanks for sharing!!👍🍻😎
Looked a great hike taking in some stunning summits and views along the way, a wise choice dropping down out of the wind for your camp tho . Some scary looking scrambles mind not for the faint hearted lol atb Dave....
Nice video, can see how your editing ect has progressed well. Was looking at doing this as an overnighter o good to see that spot to camp especially with the water. My dog drinks loads so if I can't guarantee a water source its 2-3L in the bag depending on the temp
In my opinion that was the best movie of yours I have watched so far. Really enjoyed. What a walk and physically demanding too! Shame with the wind and the water. Loved the bit with Irn Bru….ha ha couldn't believe you also carried that with you:-].. despite I hate the taste of it I will probably use it sometimes too as it is.. an incredibly popular Scottish non alcoholic drink. Thanks for posting
cracking route, hope to be on this within the next month. The Ring of Steall is my next exped - not a huge distance really is it but a fair bit of up and down.
The route seems clearly defined but what would you recommend for navigation when your a newbe to the route, a map & compass is always needed but is a mobile app a good idea to have the route in your phone? Also, if you got into dificulties up there do you have a signal to call moutain rescue?
Hi Alan, it is a good defined route but it's quite demanding too. I'd save this one until you're a bit more experienced. A good app like OS Maps app is recommended, use on flight mode to save your battery. A signal can be found on most summits, but bealachs and glens might not have coverage.
A really enjoyable video, Robin. That new GoPro is serving lots of justice to the scenery. This route was high on my list for the Scotland trip (albeit without the wild camp...) and it will still be there whenever I do get up and across the border. All the best, hope you're having a great Easter.
Great film Robin, Brung back great memories mate. Nothing to do wi yer singing, But i dont think Ali Campbell will bother too much about copyrite :)))))
Cracking video......very enjoyable indeed and very high picture quality 👍 I was stuck in traffic between Stirling and Callander trying to get the wee fella up Ben Ledi. Utter schoolboy error☹️. Your trip looked ace.
I love Glen Nevis and caught vlogging lol! Next time I do any cooking outdoors I am going to ditch the buns and take wraps, so much easier. Nice bit of scrambling at the top and made the right call on putting down the camera when going over that slab. Some great scenery that I knew you would get there and a real canny morning to wake up too. Looks like you have a great couple of days Robin and 4 Murrow's bagged as well, great stuff, cheers Alan
Hey Al, I don't think people care when they see someone talking to a camera these days. 😆 Aye Kev was happy as Larry with 4 new Munros. 😁 Oh BTW, you should look at getting a wind slayer for your GoPro. No external mic used in this film. Cheers for watching Robin
Been over that crazy wire bridge a few times .. still don't get why they haven't replaced it with a normal wooden plank version ... i been over bridges in Himalayas that are easier to cross :P :)
Wow thank you so much for sharing this walk. I absoloutly love this whole area and am hoping to be back up there very soon. Although you would never get me on those scary ridges . I am ok on the hills so long as I do not have to go on the ridges atb :D Teddy
Trust me if I get there I will. So far we have had to reduce our normal two weeks May holiday due to family reasons so are just crossing our fingers we get there for one week at least. If we get to Scotland and I spot you out and about I will be sure to say hi :D Teddy
The Devil's Ridge only has one short scramble that you see Kev going over in the video, I decided to avoid it as the camping pack was making me feel a bit unbalanced. If you were comfortable on the CMD then the Devil's Ridge won't be an issue as the CMD is similar but more sustained. Hope this helps.
Hi Alex, it is exposed but not totally knife edge either. The short crux on the Devil's Ridge you see Kevin on may unnerve you a bit, but it's short lived and easy. There's some exposure on the first Munro too, again you see Kevin on. The descent is is a bit loose and steep in places but nothing untoward, just take your time. Hope this helps mate.
@@WalkWithWallace unfortunately I planned the 3 Munros on the lawers range clockwise so had to face the drop from An Stuc first I froze at the top, there was only one way I was getting off the hill and that was to go down, not to mention I went down on my backside however I managed it.
