I actually made a set of these with a few minor changes that fit my needs. You should check them out if you get a minute. I just posted the video on my channel. I've used them for about 6 months now and they are holding up very well. I actually prefer them to the globotruss due to the sheer difference in weight. Thank you for the idea! Good morning. I have a question pertaining to the scrim and truss. What size pvc did you use. Is it 3/4 or an inch. Also for the scrim, did you sew the top and do you have a tutorial on the scrim.

Hey man, so I have an idea/question for you. I'm in the process of opening a youth centre, part of which would be a multi purpose venue. The problem is were on an almost non existent budget lol, so I wanted to do some suspended diy trussing for the full lighting rig( mostly led wash and moon type effects, but a few moving heads) I was wondering if the diy pvc trussing could work as a permanent install? Also if it would be safe enough to be a permanent install? I really don't want to risk the lives of the youth or the potential for being shut down or sued. I would most likely use 1 1/2 or 2" pvc in the 12" square tubing but I'm not sure if it's a good idea? Also if it would work do you have any ideas on diagonal bracing within the trusses or maybe a how to video for suspended truss? I have an extensive construction background as well as an audio/lighting background but I want to first and foremost make sure it will be safe. Any help would be much appreciated
Hi Jeremy thanks for subscribing I sub back but to answer your question no it's not safe I would highly recommend buying a trussing light rig i just switched over to the global truss and use these pvc for outdoor you can find some very inexpensive aluminum truss on eBay OR I IF JUST NEED A TRUSS LIGHT RIG 123DJ com has a light stand rig for 100
Instead of using a moving light why wouldn't you just use a floor light and just put it on the bottom of the totem facing up ?? And I have looked into buying the scrims online and to me it seems like it's not much more money to just buy the ones that are already pre made and then you know you're getting one that is perfectly made the right size for your totem.. I have a prom coming up in a few weeks so I am seriously thinking about building the set of these

Nice. I like the coupons for Joanne Fabrics idea. Stretch those bills first, then the lycra.
Use 1 inch PVC and try not to go past 20 inches with the lengths of pipe. Works great and little to no twisting with the moving head on top

do you have a version of these for bigger moving lights like the pointe or sharpy

What if you used a mini moving head? Weighs about 8lbs...Just wondering, I was never going to attempt a reg moving head

The mini head should work you may have to test it but if not you can always through them on a tripod mount or hang from a truss
