THAT IS THE BEST SINGLE TRIPOD I HAVE EVER SEEN. I LOVE HOW COMPACT IT IS WITHOUT ME GOING OUT AND GETTING A TRAILER AND USING MY Elation Design Spot moving heads and global truss. Thank you so much for posting this video love this. Thanks Brian
thank you so much for this video :D i wanted to add some movingheads to my setup but was struggling with where i could put them, so was about to give up on the idea. Thank you for this great idea Mikey Mike :D and thanks to you Brian for making this video, otherwise i would have had no idea of this amazing totem :)
is one of the best videos ve seen it , thanks to share all your knowledge , and share your techniques. my english is not so good writting skills but want to say thanks for all your sharing videos.
Hello, how it is when you drill four small holes in your board in which the most feet of the match? Does it then even better? DJ Partydoc from Wilhelmshaven, Germany
I used one of those to make a video projector stand by attaching it to a folding laptop stand and then I placed it on a light stand. Works perfectly and saved me hundreds of dollars.
Great work Brian - but I think you knew that already - you look soooooo pleased with yourself - and rightly so. Can't wait to see you run it in a gig-log. Excellent stuff - I'm off to watch some Mikey Mike for more inspiration
Brian You did a great Job!!! Way to go!!! A perfict "Do It From Scratch" video ... The Photo booth video is coming soon. Stay tuned to My "Do it From Scratch" channel . Thanks for the shout out and a cool "Do it from Scratch" video From Your Buddy, DJ Mikey Mike & directsound
ok love the vid and does this mean you will not get some comscan leds from american dj? also i would get either 4 x-move led plus or 4 of the new vizi led spot which have rotating gobos and 3,5,and infinate prisms also you could get some chauvet moving heads and i would recomend the intimidator xyz or nothing from them in your sijuation but that light moves even more so it might be more likely to fall and it is hard to mount down because of the base so hope this helps ledlightboy
hi, at about 6:00 , there's a coloured light in the back ground - was someone messing with the lights? Great vid - should make more on controlling moving heads by 'my dmx'
that the lights rubber feet will rest into, preventing it to move from side to side when you shake it. Then with the velcro straps you used (very good idea) you shuoldnt have to worry about anything wobbling the slighest bit.
Nice video Brian. An alternative to ThomasGrillo's suggestion is to screw four cheese head self tapping screws into the top of the board to fit into the recess under the rubber feet of the moving head. That way you'd locate the moving head and not scratch or damage the underside of the moving head or the feet. Nice video Brian.
So Cool, you got any idea how much the whole process cost you and time? I think it looks awesome!!! Looks ao much better than a bar with lights hanging off it.
The concept is kinda cool, don't you think? I'm sure there is a better way to do this, but this mock-up hopefully gets some wheels turning with people for improvements, alternatives, etc. A few have had some pretty good ideas in the comment section here (besides "Paint It Black"... HA!)
Great job Brian! You and Mikey Mike should get your own show. First you do Dj videos, next thing you're showing us how to cook, now you're building things that would have cost quite a bit of money to buy. I can't wait to see what you do next. Isn't velcro great?
Brilliant concept. My only recommendation would be to drill a hole in each corner of the platform for the legs of the moving head to fit into to lock it in place. The straps are excelent too, and will add that much more security to the system. Well done, and thanks for sharing. :)
yeah probably. Nobody is making a 3 sided universal full tripod cover, though. You would have to buy 3 scrim king covers per tripod to kinda make it work. There would be gaps for sure.
Cool vid brian. I did something similar exept I used the bolt holes in the botton of my movinghead rather than using starps. Cool vid though and you should definatly get more moving heads.
Yeah there's a bracket. Trouble is, it sticks out of the bottom of the fixture too far (beyond the rubber feet) You would have to jack the light up pretty far on all 4 corners to leave the bracket in place.
You can also buy thick Velcro with a sticky side. Stick fuzzy side to base and tooth side to light. easy on and off. and you dont have to worry about losing your seatbelts.
@briansredd i know but still all i was saying is that the com scan led and some x-moves i don't think would look good unless your goal was to have mini or compace lights that are still led and intelegent dmx but i could see you still using some comscans also i know you have instaled some lights but i don't see all of yur lights being used all the time such as the x- scan led and min spot i have only seen the x-move led
I set up my moving head (chauvet intimidator 150) on a speaker stand without using a plywood and velcro. It's easier and faster. Use the bolt (the one for attaching the truss holder) to attach the speaker adapter to the bottom of the moving head. The hole (actually that long line hole not the four small ones) fits the hole of the moving head. It is easier, professional look, and sturdy. Hope this helps.
Oh Anoher thing i was thinking. Maybe if you tried to use a thicker wood, and maybe something better then particle board like your using (which expands and easily falls apart if it gets a the slightest bit of damp or wet) Id suggust something like 3/4inch thick birch that you can get in small 2foot by 2 foot pieces for around 20$ at menards. Also, if you would measure out the moving heads rubber feet, and pre drill a hole big enough to let the rubber feet slide into (aboube 1/4 inches deep).
i really like the idea of using the tripod and adapter. adding a little trim on the edge of the wood and some black paint would really help. (i would gig it) to improve even more you could use some acrylic for your platform instead of wood. you could counter-bore some holes for the x-move feet to sit in and use nylon strapping with a some sort of buckle (similar to a motorcycle helmet) then that thing would be going nowhere. i dig it, great idea.
LOL I was planning on doing something along those lines with my Galaxian Move, and a pair of my Chauvet MinSpots. Except I went a little further, and had a local metalworks shop fabricate me up a bracket that would mount to the Moving heads, and would then mount onto my Tripods. All in All great "1st" Video Brian!
one each side and you have a complete light show that with some fog would look fantastic, i guess you could spray paint the wood black which may look a little better.
Yeah could have, but that would require me to leave the bracket on the moving head all the time and to drill more holes into either the casing or the bracket
hmm well anything LED would be the way to go. I had to do a party with a generator because of a power outage once. So, I used a couple 12 watt LED par cans. As you know, 12 watts is really nothing. My suggestion to you would be to check out the ADJ online catalog (or better yet the ADJlighting youtube page) and pay close attention to power draw in the product discription. I'm sure you'll find loads of exellent LED lights you'll dig at very low power draw
Before you go to all that trouble, I have yet another option to share that may be even better than this one & PERFECT for your Galaxian Move. give me a week to get the parts in so I can show you :)
@briansredd well it is a (gobo) moving head and most people don't use scanners and moving heads both and if so many more of one kind such as mikemike uses only moving heads zman87gt uses only scanners but stewardsproductions uses both and sometimes at the same time but still he uses different sets
not bad at all brian , i myself would make a platform that i could attach my mega-brackets to . they lock into the movers and would stop them going anywhere. other than that just a plane spiggot in the bottom of the megabracket may work. finless potential when it comes to the stands... good vid though :)
Cutting Velcro with a tin snips = priceless!! Lol But Im the same way, I dont want to go look for a new tool if i got something in reach that could work with added effort.
Haha! Yeah that was the basic idea though. I can see what your saying. But the only other thing is that is the light has wholes on the case to attach the stand to, then that be good....but that's moving in an other direction
HEY !!!I HAVE AN IDEA SPRAY BLACK COLOR THE PIECE OF WOOD SO IT ALL LOOKS BLACK... THINK ALSO STICK A SQUARE PIECE OF THAT TAPE THAT WORKS SIMILAR TO VELCRO ON THE BOTTOM OF LIGHT AND OPOSITE PIECE ON THE PIECE OF WOOD PLACE LIGHT AND SECURE AND THOSE STRIPS WONT BE VISIBLE! DONE!!
As you may have noticed, I mix up my light shows quite a bit. I have lots of different types of lights in my inventory
What moving head are you using?
👍where did you get the part to screw onto the wood? This is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Brian, Are you still using these stands for your moving heads??
thank you so much for this video :D i wanted to add some movingheads to my setup but was struggling with where i could put them, so was about to give up on the idea. Thank you for this great idea Mikey Mike :D and thanks to you Brian for making this video, otherwise i would have had no idea of this amazing totem :)
that scrim king and led light really set this off.. looks amazing and very simple to create. Thnx Brian!
good to see you are using the velcro I gave ya. great vid.
Got a BRAND NEW option for this! Stay tuned for a video hopefully this week. Just waiting for supplies to be shipped :)
Brian can I do this with the crank stand dura truss system for my inno pocket spots
is one of the best videos ve seen it , thanks to share all your knowledge , and share your techniques.
my english is not so good writting skills but want to say thanks for all your sharing videos.
Brian, this has just given me so many more affordable and practical options. Great ideas, many thanks.
Hey Brian, Great video. I was thinking about this same idea. Also, where can you buy the scrim kings?
Hello, how it is when you drill four small holes in your board in which the most feet of the match? Does it then even better? DJ Partydoc from Wilhelmshaven, Germany
Brian, since you made this video have you use this at any gig.
Maaan Brian you're full of some real great/useful ideas.
I got to know how you made those "grills"?
Thank you for all your great videos
I used one of those to make a video projector stand by attaching it to a folding laptop stand and then I placed it on a light stand. Works perfectly and saved me hundreds of dollars.

Just a thought to secure the light better. Could you drill holes into the platform that would allow the rubber feet to sit into the wood?

I have bought speaker stands before that came with that bracket you used.
Nice video Brian.

HA! I was exited about you seeing it. It's a mock-up but works. Going to explore some other options for this as well.
Thanks again Mikey!

Great idea Brian... One thing.. I would really paint the wood part black... It would look so much better.
magic Johnson says: "always use protection!"
wear your safety goggles!
Acme Genesis LED, I think it's similar to the ADJ x move LED. There is just two bolt holes in the bottom to conect a extra hanging bracket.
I think I'd use underbody coating for the platform for the final product
Why would this have anything to do with Comscans?
This is sort of a mock-up. I would probably make quite a few improvements in materials, etc for the finished product
I'll never do it again, Arnold, sorry
yeah probably. Nobody is making a 3 sided universal full tripod cover, though. You would have to buy 3 scrim king covers per tripod to kinda make it work. There would be gaps for sure.

You're right it's no MM, but!!! It's a darn good shot at it, and not a horrible idea either. Thanks for sharing!
Keep'em Movin'

Excellent especially for beginners
Good idea!! great video Brian
This would be GREAT for mounting moving heads to my ( Tripod | =Truss=| tripod ) set up instead of some t bars

you should add some rubber between the wood and the head so that it doesnt slide

I think I'm gonna make a couple of those as soon as possible ;)
great video brian, DJ Mikey Mike is verry talented when it comes to things like this. shout outs to all the djs on you tube. keep it rocking...

Looks Great Brian, and they would be nice and easy to move about.
Nice job as usually brian.......
not bad at all...
as an alternative you could mount an LED Bar on the speaker/lighting pole as opposed to using a skrim king cover.
The bracket was something like $5 and the scrap wood was free
Nice job Brian! Looks Great!
Now the fun part would be ordering one & having it shipped to the states
awesome Brian
like the Poor Man's Moving Head Totem love the idea of back lighting Lycra Please take a look at my screen
Hey Bri, great job on it. That saves you some green but I also agree with ljmike1204, you should add two more belts just to be safe and sure.
you dont have to say sorry brian it just happens
hmm well anything LED would be the way to go. I had to do a party with a generator because of a power outage once. So, I used a couple 12 watt LED par cans. As you know, 12 watts is really nothing.

doo, do do do, do do do, do do doo, do do do, do do do do do dooo...TETRIS! lol when you cut the wood that wasthe first thing that came to mind : )
It's just a mock-up. A 100% finished product would look a lot different
Before you go to all that trouble, I have yet another option to share that may be even better than this one & PERFECT for your Galaxian Move. give me a week to get the parts in so I can show you :)
HA! Thanks Steelo!
@briansredd well it is a (gobo) moving head and most people don't use scanners and moving heads both and if so many more of one kind
such as mikemike uses only moving heads zman87gt uses only scanners but
stewardsproductions uses both and sometimes at the same time but still he uses different sets

5 stars for DIY - nice!
Cutting Velcro with a tin snips = priceless!! Lol
But Im the same way, I dont want to go look for a new tool if i got something in reach that could work with added effort.
