From leaving a stop sign or dealing with clueless four wheelers you act the same. I was also blessed with two parents who never stopped teaching us patience and understanding human nature. After nearly 50 years in higher education I am reminded daily of how fortunate I was and how lucky my two boys are. It's this parents hope that they will carry on that same gift. I am trained as an exercise physiologist and it's obvious you'll avoid a lot of long range health issues as long as you continue to not let the little stuff bother you. As a parent it was never easy to not let my boys see me get angry. Both have turned out to be slow to anger unless when competing in sport. That's when I let the refs sort it out. Be safe Doug.

Fancy Gap is terrific! First time I went through there was 1997 when I moved from Minnesota to North Carolina. If you haven't been through it at night, put that on your bucket list!! I love the view as you come out of the mountains southbound on 77!
I also have the same memories of Fancy Gap after driving Raleigh NC back and forth to Toronto after we moved South from Canada. Great memories with my parents as well so thanks for sharing, both of you
I've done heavy and overweight haul, not to be too critical, but you need a better escort; a person that can anticipate your next move and can help you get the room you need by properly blocking traffic. Excellent job. I loved the video.

I've bee up and down Fancy Gap several times and never get over the beauty of the scenery. That is a long pull and if you didn't have that 565 under the hood, that would have been tough.

I try to video some of the loading but not always easy. My main focus of course is on the job. I can’t be stopping the loading process to figure out camera angles. And not all the shipping facilities appreciate being filmed. But thanks for the comment and I’ll do what I can to keep bringing you guys the load / unload process.
Always love the countless times I've been up & down Fancy Gap Mountain. My old man would tell me about his truck driving in the old days before 77 was built or Jake brakes were a thing. love seeing you navigate those turns at those lengths. Also love how you never rush and take your time even when you have to stop traffic to get out and adjust the trailer. I couldnt do that at a walk because I hate thinking im an inconvenience and thus want to run and rush. But thats how mistakes are made and i suppose do jobs like that, people just got to learn to wait so might as well take your time and do it right Looking forward to see the new rig!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like to hold people up unnecessarily. But I’ve learned to focus on the job and block everyone else out. If I’m completely focused on what I need to do than we actually more faster then if I’m stressing about everyone else
I've driven that I77 by Fancy Gap dozens of times. Its a highlight of the trip, whether I hit it at dawn or Dusk. Been icy on a couple of times to! When going downhill you can always smell people's burnt brake pads. I am especially impressed that you are able to crest I77 with that load.
This was interesting to watch. 25 years at trucking (what a blast I had) and now retired. I would consider coming out of retirement to do this. Only drawback is, I'm not a morning person. Volunteered for night work any chance I got. Seen most of this country in the dark. Its quiet though. I do miss it sometimes. You can take the driver out of the truck, but you can never take the truck out of the driver.

Nice surprise start of the video in Raphine, that’s always my I-81 stop heading north or south, and I figure I’ll be heading south down Fancy Gap end of this month on my vacation trip, it’s definitely one of the more scenic views, looks absolutely stunning in the early morning during sunrise, that is if there isn’t any fog.

Florida pickup makes me remember all the spring breaks we spent as a family, Siesta Key , Sarasota etc, Hwy 4 reminded me of Bradenton etc, saw my 1st Home Depot there, 1991, was stunned ,, tried to buy a Cdn store ,, The Google map follow south of Albany was a nightmare !! Beautiful driving , another excellent video , wish there was more detail and time ,,, Love the trailer adjustment details !

The scenic shots out over the valley around 20-30 mins in reminds me of an overnight trip in a large straight truck from mid MI to eastern PA in the mid 90s. I woke up in the morning with my head glued to the passenger window and absolutely nothing visible but the tops of large trees below my window. No shoulder, no rail. Was a beautiful scene otherwise, but I was ... distracted.
Had to watch this over two evenings but really enjoyed it. Need to be a lawyer just to figure out all the different rules for each State and Province. Well done!!

Interesting drive with pilots & tail escorts .. to see how they assist & are necessary and to watch your skilled driving , but I gotta tell ya I miss the rumble of the Jake brake and noise of the stacks . Lol. But you know you can’t fake smooth .. you’re smooth !
I used to do high load escorts as a telephone engineer: Taking down wires lower than the load and putting them back up, running with Police escorts, mainly at night. Retired 6 months now.
No pole car in PA huh? I think if you were 1” taller it’s required. If I remeber correctly. I definitely remeber letting some air out of tires on some loads to avoid getting a pole. Ahhhh the good ole days!! Love the vids!
It took me a hot minute to figure out why they had you take the right on 158 and go through guilderland center. CSX has a rail crossing about 1.5 miles from the intersection of RT 20 and 158. Those roundabouts at fuller and washington ave look like a real pain for oversize loads. Back in the day before the roundabouts youd take a left and then a right to get on 90 to 87. I used to watch them bring the large windmill blades down the same route you took. Good video, good driving.
Yup to avoid the train bridge on 20 exactly! The round abouts have been there since I’ve started doing that route at least 10 years now. Your age is showing 😝. Just teasing!
That crane looks like one that was used after the hurricane did all of the damage in Ft Myers. It was used to recover large boats that had been damaged in the storm. A TV program showed it in action. And big bucks to pay for it too.
Very nice job and great demeanor! Probably could use a shorter deck and run the front two axles of the carrier up on the riser, all stripped down the carrier cab is very low and not heavy in the front. The weights and dimensions the 6400 are really easy to get online and very accurate.
You went by house and never saw ya. I live in WV about a mile off I-81 and run maryland alot and look for ya but never see ya. I guess I am always wrong place, wrong time. Love the videos

I used to do high load escorts as a telephone engineer: Taking down wires lower than the load and putting them back up, running with Police escorts, mainly at night. Retired 6 months now.

No pole car in PA huh? I think if you were 1” taller it’s required. If I remeber correctly. I definitely remeber letting some air out of tires on some loads to avoid getting a pole. Ahhhh the good ole days!! Love the vids!
Yeah these loads are often calculated to be just under and save some $$$. With the route we had I wasn’t worried

It took me a hot minute to figure out why they had you take the right on 158 and go through guilderland center. CSX has a rail crossing about 1.5 miles from the intersection of RT 20 and 158. Those roundabouts at fuller and washington ave look like a real pain for oversize loads. Back in the day before the roundabouts youd take a left and then a right to get on 90 to 87. I used to watch them bring the large windmill blades down the same route you took. Good video, good driving.
Yup to avoid the train bridge on 20 exactly! The round abouts have been there since I’ve started doing that route at least 10 years now. Your age is showing 😝. Just teasing!

That crane looks like one that was used after the hurricane did all of the damage in Ft Myers. It was used to recover large boats that had been damaged in the storm. A TV program showed it in action. And big bucks to pay for it too.

Very nice job and great demeanor! Probably could use a shorter deck and run the front two axles of the carrier up on the riser, all stripped down the carrier cab is very low and not heavy in the front. The weights and dimensions the 6400 are really easy to get online and very accurate.
