    * I was the defense pre trial attorney for my team so I may have scored this harshly
    ** This is how I would of scored the trial if I was a scoring attorney
    *** To much reasonable doubt to convict even if the prosecution are perfect (which I believe they almost were)
    **** If you got this far let me know how you would have scored this trial :)

      I just did it sophomore year and started out as an understudy witness and was eventually needed to take someone’s place. It was scary at first and was on zoom so kinda weird, but besides for the nerves, it’s actually kinda fun and I’m thinking of staying as an actual witness. Might be easier too, since I wouldn’t have to memorize all testimonies on my side. It’s a good way to get out of your comfort zone.

    I thought about how the prosecution could have said that Taylor's body wouldn't have been found inside of the bathtub if they slipped on the bathroom *floor* and hit their head on the *trough* . Rather, their body would have been found on the floor if that were the case. But I then later realized that the body they could have still fallen inside of the bathtub even if they slipped on the floor. I guess this is why the prosecution decided not to include this as it would have been easy to rebuke (although the defense's manner of death is still extremely awkward and unlikely). I guess this what you get when you put so many brilliant future lawyers into one room! As a mortal, I am impressed!

    This brings me back to when I did Mock Trial in 2006 as a junior. That year's case was "attempted school bombing" (People v. Campbell) and we went to County Finals at the main courthouse in Oakland. We, unfortunately, were on prosecution that evening and eventually lost in an otherwise close trial score.

      Oh, cool! I was bailiff (which is on defense), a totally unglamorous role, at least for the case I was in that year. In hindsight, I could've gone out for either expert or witness, since we planned for the defendant and key witness for the prosecution to both be girls.
      The only real piece of advice I can give is to think of it like competitive acting. Just relax and have fun with it. The more tense you are, the more likely you'll miss out on scoring opportunities through objections. Remember what you practiced and pay close attention to what each witness says on the opposing team. Beyond that, break a leg. :)

      This may be late, but here are some tips.
      Witnesses aren’t really going to lie. In mock trial at least.
      Think outside the box. Some information may be a lot more important than you may think.
      Only ask witnesses questions that will help your case. (Also leading questions may help Even when objected to, just to show certain information)
      Think of every counter for other arguments,
      While cross examinating another the other witness, press on something makes them not credible. That’s the main goal of cross exam.

    Lol at referring to the decedent as "they/them". Would never happen in a real trial. The jury would be confused and it would bring an unnecessary distraction to the case.

    • @AA-hs4rk
      @AA-hs4rk 3 роки тому +15

      Wrong, they use the pronouns the decendent responds to, it’s not an “unnecessary distraction” it’s literally just pronouns, there are bigger distractions to worry about and this is a liberal judge most likely

      when we get cases like this, we’re told to use they/them pronouns because we don’t know who is going to be playing the witness 🤷‍♀️

    its pretty unfortunate that the court didn't refer to the decedents* pronouns properly ☹️
    also im watching this to see what a trial would look like since im torn between another career or becoming a lawyer lol

    • @samantha3162
      @samantha3162 3 роки тому +11

      This is not a proper trial, but rather a “mock” execution of what the litigation would look like with little evidence and simplified rules. I would suggest watching other cases here on youtube that accurately convey a real homicide trial as this video is-although filled with professionalism-not consisting of real, board certified attorneys.

    • @samantha3162
      @samantha3162 3 роки тому +8

      Also, the decedent’s pronouns were the ones referred to incorrectly, not the defendant’s.
      By the way, I’m not trying to come off as rude, I just don’t want you to pursue a career under false pretenses. Good luck with choosing what you want to do though!
