Recipe
4-5 Cubed Steaks
1 Large Onion Sliced
3 Cups Beef or Chicken Stock
3 Fresh Thyme Sprigs (leaves removed)
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
3 tablespoons Onion Powder
1 tablespoon Paprika
Seasalt (to taste)
3-4 slices Butter

Liver and onions with bacon slaps! Lol. Definitely grew on me! Didn’t like it as a kid, but as an adult it’s a treat. My dad loved it and he’s the one who exposed me to it.
My mom loves it and just like that too!
Liver and onions is one of my all time favorites, tastes very good and is also very good for your body!
Have t made this in years, many years. Cut back on red meat 🥩. When I did, I did it the easiest way by using two cans of CREAM OF MUSHROOMS. Oh and I add fresh mushrooms as well.

I love chicken liver. Now I have my children loving it too . My 16 year old son really likes liver and onions but is in love with fried chicken liver. When I make whole chicken I have to fight my son for the liver lol 😆

PS: what works well preventing lumpy flour is take a strainer with a steel screen-like mesh. Put the flour in that and then take a spoon and grind out any lumps against the mesh. The flour comes right through the screen strainer perfectly and “powdery” with no lumps at all. It takes maybe 10 seconds to do that, too ! Very quick process doing that
If you want to add the flour to the pan like that, you must consistently stir while you’re putting the flour in the pan otherwise you can mix flour in the water before you poured in the pan. This will resolve your clumping problem.

When adding the flour, be sure there is no water in the pan - just grease or oil. Any water will cause the flour to clump. Once the clumps have formed, they are hard to get rid of, as you know. At least that's what I think I've observed.
Facts
Either add flour to fat (oil/butter/lard) and make a roux before adding the broth or mix the flour with cold broth and then heat it. If you add the flour to boiling water, you basically just made some very small dumplings.
We love country fried steak. This is the perfect recipe, that I can make.

OMG! My mother would do the liver and onions with gravy too when I was growing up. It smelled soooo good and I would be excited thinking it was the steak and onions. Then get to the kitchen and find out it was liver 🤢🤢🤢. Nope. I can’t do the liver either, lol. This is a great recipe and I’m a new subscriber. Glad I found your channel.

Great video. I needed a reminder on how to make this taste like my mother's. Thank you. I crave liver and onions, but not with gravy. I can't imagine them with gravy. I don't use any flour either. Just skillet them with seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic, fresh onion.

You can also add some of the hot liquid to a bowl... add the flour then combine until fully mixed. Next pour the mixture back into the pan.
Mix it with water before putting it in the pan

My hubby loves the Liver and Onions and it smells so good when he makes it... its the fact I know what the liver does in the body and then I smell the raw when he's prepping and its the metallic blood smell that deadens the desire to try it. But he loves it. I do my grandma's pepper steak with what cubed steaks or I should say a version of hers because you know when you consider yourself a real home cook... you don't take other folks recipes, you borrow their base elements and then you add your OWN stank on it. LOL

Once you add the steaks to the gravy let them cook about 25 to 30 minutes
Cook up a half a pound of bacon when you’re doing your liver use the grease for frying your liver and the bacon just does it you will be amazed
My mom's liver and onions was the only liver and onions meal I would attempt to eat for her benefit ( I wouldn't for anyone else), age 16 I gave it one last chance and for me it was the texture of it I couldn't ( still can't) do. 🤣
