My Mom used to make this for my brother and I. We had very little growing up, but when my Mom would make this...we were two of the happiest kids! Thank you for bringing back that happy memory.
I don’t really have a good mother and as an adult I’ve realized all the things I wasn’t able to learn because of that all I had was her as a parent but your videos have really helped me start to learn how to cook and cook simple good meals so I thank you for that🙏
That’s sad. I do know when I was a child I had a good time with my mother cooking and making crafts. She was a Girl Scout leader and a Boy Scout leader. She loved doing all of those things. I remember her showing me how to bake and cook several things and I assumed all mothers did those things. I didn’t learn 7 til I was older that there were moms that were not good moms. It made me appreciate her even more. My dad was a scary grouch and I assumed most dads were that way too and didn’t realize that their were nice dads until I started going to friends houses. I was so glad that my mother seemed to make up for where my dad was lacking. I feel sad for kids that have mean or bad mothers or dads. It’s just so important to be good to our kids and teach them to cook. Blessings to you.
I am sorry you feel you didn't get the nurturing you needed. Cooking is no big deal; just watch a few videos and always put your own spin on things and taste your food as you go and you will be a pro in no time!
yea, she almost killed her husband with that burning hot, straight out the oven cube steak. And he was soooo hungry, waiting 2 hrs. to eat. he forgot the food has to cool off first. ...roflma..😂😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😁🥰🥰

I cook my country gravy that way. I like to get my roux really dark before adding a combination of evaporated milk and water. That's how I make gravy for breakfast after frying sausage, or after frying pork chops or fried chicken too. Excellent on biscuits!

Right. Not so affordable any more. Going on $6 or more per pound, ouch! Now that it’s me I can afford to cook this meal. Sometimes I will add red and green bell pepper for a little boost of flavor. Good old fashioned comfort food❣️❣️❣️
My Dad grew up on a farm where his Mom would make cube steak for him and then he ended up making the same recipe for me. This video brings back lots of good memories!
Thank you! Thank you!! My Mom used to make cube steaks; and I used to love it. When she turned 90 years old, I started getting her recipes down, and filming her cooking. I knew that I would not get to eat some of those dishes anywhere. She was born in Cuba, and she cooked truly tasty stuff that I grew up with. She passed away at the age of 100 years and 4 months, in August of 2020. The cube steak recipe was not one that I got from her. I told Claire (my wife) about cube steaks. She had never heard of them. A couple of days ago, she went grocery shopping, and showed up with cube steaks.😂 I just searched for cube steak recipes because I am the one who cooks. I wanted something simple. I got recipes that called for 19 ingredients, 16 ingredients. Then, I came across your UA-cam video. That was so enjoyable to watch. My mom never used measurements either. LOL! I do, though. I always measured what she put in the food as she cooked, so that I could write it down. Anyway, I will be making your cube steak recipe. hope that you and your husband are still doing well. Best!
Lovely! This is the same way my mom cooked this. We would have it with rice for dinner, then turn around the next morning ( usually Sunday) and have it with grits and eggs! Those were the days!
This brought back memories! Loved cube steak growing up. Haven’t had it in 30 years. Now I want some! I’ve gotta make this for my kids and husband-they’ve never had it as I’ve never ever cooked it. Your husband was soo ready. Those biscuits!
Baby girl what a delicious and beautiful dinner. I remember my mother making that steak but not in the oven. I learn something new EVERY time I watch you. Catching up this Sunday is quite rewarding. Blessings
Oh my! My mom loved to make cube steak and gravy! She never put it in the oven though. Unfortunately she passed away last February. I know what she did but not exactly. This video is bringing back memories as well as showing me step by step. She lived with me so I only cooked what she didn’t know how, which was things like lasagna etc. She was the soul food queen. I had it made. She was an amazing cook. I miss her and her cooking so much😢

You’re right about learning how to make good gravy, it is practice, practice… Finally I have got it! Bacon grease, now I know that’s going to make it really good! Love your suggestion of putting it in the oven. I think I will cook this over the weekend!!! Thank you for sharing ☺️.

I'm a seasoned southern cook too, and your methods are great. I do mostly the same as you, never tried putting in the oven but makes good sense. Ty so much, you explained it easy enough for a beginner to follow. I love my cast iron pans too.
Your video had me at the title, Cast Iron Skillet. Then you said bacon grease, this young generation know nothing bout neither. My mother only cooked hers in a iron frying pan. Great video, my stomach is growling already.
I woke up this morning thinking about my mommas cubed steak. This is how she baked it, but I couldn't remember for sure till I watched your video. This looks so yummy and thanks for the tips about the gravy! Keep on cook in!
Always delicious! I've made these a lot. But I always watch again before I am going to make it again, just to be sure I don't leave a step, or a seasoning out. I also love it with the old time cooked green beans with smoked turkey in the cooking pan with broth or water. Yum. :)

I made this tonight for dinner exactly how you did it and it was the best, tenderest cube steak and gravy I’ve ever had. I will cook it like this from now on. My kids and husband absolutely loved it. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Made this tonight with a cauliflower risotto and it was delicious! I didn't have any onions in the house, so I just used a packet of French Onion Soup mix. TY Ms Donna for posting this & I love how you filmed it in real time.

Just wanted to say thank you for this! I grabbed a large pack of cube steak on sale this week and have been dreading cooking it because it always seems to end up tough. I was looking for options to use the oven and your video came up. This was so simple and perfect to be able to just leave in the oven while I did some other household chores. This is much more like what I remember my grandmother serving me than the poor attempts I've made in the past. I'm not scared of cooking cube steak anymore! Thank you!
Heyyyy Sarah!!! Yes I love cooking cube steak this way. I certainly hope you find this way to be easy for you as well!!! Let me know how it turns out!😊
I love it when you said "I don't measure" lol... I do the same thing. The girls are always asking me for my recipes and I tell them "well, just watch me cook and learn how to cook it" It all goes by feel, texture and how it looks.
Ikr...I was taught how to measure but that's time consuming for me... and besides I don't like math but I count money well don't play with me and my money... 😂😂😂😂
A good cook never measures that's what our hands are for mom said..Baking ..yes you sometimes must measure..but never cooking..I love this recipe here..Just like mom's old recipe. I'll be following this girls recipes. Like her alot..
Hey Donna... Your cooking looks so Delicious... 👌 Please sometimes can you put a portion on a dish for yourself and enjoy your awesome food? Keep those wonderful recipes coming. Blessings Family...
My mom taught me how to make homemade gravy when I was 10 ( 50 now) and there's nothing better! This video I saw my mom in our kitchen teaching me the steps like it was yesterday💔... thk you for the memories💛
I played your video twice while trying to go along .i like how you give two ways to do it throughout.im a single dad just trying to make good dinners for us. you have a pleasant smooth way of talking i like your voice . i had a black friend in school who i spent time with in their kitchen in the 70s you remind me of his mom, what a lady she had that calm nice voice ...you took me back in time...thanks
Sure do wish my old dad was around, so I could make this for him. I’ve got a package of cube steaks in my freezer right now and this is how I’m going to cook them. Thank you, and give hub a hug from me.
That cubed steak recipe was on point! I like how tender the steak is. Sorry, but I had to laugh at him when he went in on that delicious steak, LOL! Overall, great video, two thumbs up!
Donna, you are just the sweetest lady, truly. I stumbled on this video and I can't wait to walk my son through making this (& have him watch it too, of course). His cubed steak is always like chewin' leather, for goodness sake. Now maybe he'll be able to make some worthy of eatin', lol. Along with them tender steaks, I would LOVE some of that gravy over some homemade mashed taters, along with some green beans & cornbread!! Thank you sooo much for taking the time to share your recipes with us...I DO know how much work goes into making these videos so again, thank you. Now I'm gonna go peak at your other recipes. Looks like baked roast beef is next...mmmm...can't wait. Bye bye!!
I can't thank you enough for this recipe. I've made it a few times for my gf and I, and I absolutely love it. It takes me back to a time when my grandmother would cook for us. It's delicious, and so tender! No other recipe comes close.
bacon grease is the best to enhance flavor of meat veggies the flavor isore important to me than presentation appealing to the senses eye smell etc A dumb down from fake cooking TV shows lol go girl sizzle
Donna, my that cube steak and gravy looks delicious. I never baked my cube steak. I am going to bake it low and slow and let you know how it turned out. Love you all. TGIF(Thank God For Favor). Ms. Mary.
Mrs.Donna thank you for sharing. Your cooking so reminds me of my mother's cooking and it makes my heart happy!!! I might make my pot rattle today because of this video. Much love to you and your family.🥰
This was the first meal my Daddy taught me as a teenager and it’s a family love of my son’s. But I only do stovetop HOWEVER I will do mines like this the next time! Thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing all of these wonderful home cooked meals and I love you and your husbands camera time and interactions ❤😂 so real and I feel like I’m with my folks watching y’all!
My mom used to make this for our family long ago, and when I had my own family I made it too. The "ART" of making gravy is patience, trial, and error. It took me a while to get it, but it's well worth it to have homemade gravy!!!!
Watching this made me hungry, Donna! In Cajun country, we call that gravy a roux (roo). It can be tricky. I use broth sometimes too, like the gentleman mentioned👆🏻. Poor Dude, I hope he can still taste it.
Yes, it can be tricky to make! And I totally forgot about using broth because my mom never used it when she made homemade gravy, but that would've been delicious too! As for my Dude#1, I didn't realize exactly what happened until I was editing because my back was turned to him! LOL! Believe me, it didn't stop him from eating though! I appreciate you sweet lady!!!
Your recipe looks delicious. I do believe I'll try it. Thank you! I was thinking that in the step where you add the onions it would be good to add mushrooms too (for people who like that together.)
He had me cracking up @23:29.... That's when he knew he was messed up lol 😂 I rewound it a few times cause I laughed so hard! 😎But this looks delicious!! I will be making it. Gods many blessings to you guys❤️
Donna I'm glad I stopped by your channel. I use to fix my cube steak on the stove too but could never get it tender enough. After today I'll be putting it in the oven. Thanks so much for the tip. I got it now girl! Ms Elaine in North Carolina.
I cook cube steak, onions & gravy just like my mom. My son loves it so much. I cook it in a skillet 🍳 It is delicious 😋 Thanks for sharing 👍 😊 God bless you 🙏
I'm an eastern NC girl and this recipe brings back memories. One of my all time favorites with mashed potatoes, green beans and homemade biscuits! Unfortunately, I married a man that doesn't like gravy. I know. I've led a (mostly) gravy-free life for over 30 years.
The person I cook for won;t eat gravy either. Completely unreasonable. But I think when you dip out a steak from this pan you don't have to give them a spoon full of gravy. The meat soaks up a lot of the gravy and makes it nice.
Just because he doesn't eat gravy doesn't mean u have to deprive yourself of it. I love gravy, especially turkey & steak gravy. Gravy over dressing is heavenly. I'd make myself some gravy, put it in individual packets, freeze it, & microwave it when I wanted some. There's more than one way to skin a cat, lol!
@@deansurratt7404 - Oh, yes, gravy on stuffing is great, but gravy is good on almost anything, even a slice of buttered bread! I also cook for a person who doesn't like gravy, I think he's afraid he's going to get some "meat blood". Completely unreasonable.
I love your hubby’s expressions, and then he’s even funnier when he looks right in camera lol The cube steak looks wonderful! Will definitely try the oven method, thanks for sharing! You guys are too cute haha-I had to subscribe :) Edit: I should have come back and said how it turned out-it was AMAZING. Fork tender!
Thank you ma’am for sharing this wonderful, hearty , delicious, and easy recipe. I made this for my family yesterday and we absolutely loved it. It was truly amazing and so flavorful and moist and delicious. I will definitely add to my rotation of meals. Thank you again for showing how inexpensive ingredients can make something truly memorable and delicious. Praying that God continues to bless you and your family.
I just love watching your videos! I can tell you are a fantastic cook! Your family is lucky! This cube steak has made my mouth water.......so I will be trying your recipe this weekend! You are so genuine and so entertaining!
That looks delicious. I love the way you made your gravy. My Mom made something similar in the iron cast pan. She called it swiss steak and it was good. Hubby is blessed, he does the taste testing.
My mom made what she called Swiss steak. Instead of brown gravy, she added tomato sauce and/or a can of whole peeled tomatoes. It was very good. The cube steaks were done the same as these. I have cube steaks in the freezer and will be making this recipe for cube steaks and brown gravy soon. Can't wait to try this recipe. We made white gravy (used milk instead of water) and called it country fried steak and it was delicious too.
I used to make my cube steak similar to this, only I used the water I boiled the potatoes in to make the gravy and just simmered the steak in gravy. The baking of the steak looks so much better. Have never seen your channel before, but sure will watch now.
I love your show. You and your husband has a beautiful funny personality. When he gets in front of the camera you know he's going to make you laugh. Thank you. for all your recipes. God has truly blessed you and your husband. I need to get a notebook so I can write down some of your receipes. Have you cooked Fried Rice with shrimp?
Tonight I used your recipe using venison cubed steak. It turned out great! This method really tenderized the ordinarily tough meat. My wife who doesn’t usually like venison absolutely loved it! Thank you, Miss Donna.
My grandmother in East Texas used to make something similar. She would make cube steak and onion gravy and put it (very thinly sliced) on toasted bread along with some coleslaw on the side.....with a glass of sweet tea. That fantastic lady would stretch the pound of steak enough for five grand-kids to fill their bellies. We only got it every once in a while as each dollar had to go as far as possible. We kids would feel like kings eating it. I have tried to replicate grandma`s gravy recipe, but have failed. I will need to try this one as it looks so good. Thanks for the upload.
I just duplicated what you just did and it was delicious. My wife wanted to know who made it. I'm going to have to send her the link this video to prove what I told her that I did, following your instructions. Many thanks.

Let me know how it turns out!😊
@@BeautifulTooCreationsWithDonna It was fantastic! This will be my go to from now on, thanks again!
This is the same way I make my gravy!
U
The finish products is beautiful
Reminds me of my grandparents cooking this every Sunday with biscuits and gravy . Just wonderfull. The good old times
Your cooking looks so

Awww thank you so much Heath! I'm so glad my video was helpful and that I could take you "back in time".😊🥰
Sure do wish my old dad was around, so I could make this for him. I’ve got a package of cube steaks in my freezer right now and this is how I’m going to cook them. Thank you, and give hub a hug from me.
You really taught me something, I fried mines on stove and I never put in oven. I'm going to try it your way looks delicious and soft ❤❤❤💖
That cubed steak recipe was on point! I like how tender the steak is. Sorry, but I had to laugh at him when he went in on that delicious steak, LOL! Overall, great video, two thumbs up!

I do hamburger patties and I threw some peas with it and some mushroom soup on the peas 😋
Wow! Thank you for this! My grandmothers, mother and aunties made this regularly and you made it the same way. Lovely
Bye bye!!
Your husband is too cute! I love that he’s there looking over your shoulder! You make me miss my mothers cooking something terrible!!!
Thank you for this video. When I was growing up my mom's cubed steak used to be tough as heck! So tough I never made it myself. Now I'll give it a try.
I can't thank you enough for this recipe. I've made it a few times for my gf and I, and I absolutely love it. It takes me back to a time when my grandmother would cook for us. It's delicious, and so tender! No other recipe comes close.
I love that you start with bacon grease!!
You’re such a great teacher. Thanks for sharing your talent...can’t wait to try it!!!
bacon grease is the best to enhance flavor of meat veggies the flavor isore important to me than presentation appealing to the senses eye smell etc A dumb down from fake cooking TV shows lol go girl sizzle
Donna, my that cube steak and gravy looks delicious. I never baked my cube steak. I am going to bake it low and slow and let you know how it turned out. Love you all. TGIF(Thank God For Favor). Ms. Mary.
Heyyyy there Ms. Mary!!! Yes try it. That's the only way I get mine tender.🥰😊
My mom used to make this when I was a kid with mashed potatoes and gravy. Mmmmmm! So good.
Now that looks amazing....and lm sure it is totally delish....
🤣🤣🤣 When I was editing this video is when I realized he really did burn himself!!!🤣🤣🤣 Lawd blesssssss him heart!!! He was eating it too fast!!!🤣🤣🤣
Lol
Omgosh I did too! And now I gotta make that delicious cube steak an gravyyyy! 🍖🍴👏
@@purplerain5988 Yes indeed and her recipe for it is awesome💯👍do enjoy👏👏!!!
God's blessings ❤️
Donna I'm glad I stopped by your
channel. I use to fix my cube steak on the stove too but could never get it tender enough. After today I'll be putting it in the oven. Thanks so much for the tip. I got it now girl! Ms Elaine in North Carolina.
That cute steak wow made my mouth water.Love your videos.May God bless you and your family.
Thank you Norm!!!😊
Cooked this all the time for my late husband! You brought it back to me, haven't made since he passed. YOU GUYS ATE TOO CUTE together. 🤣
Making it tonight . You’re so calming to watch !
I cook cube steak, onions & gravy just like my mom. My son loves it so much. I cook it in a skillet 🍳 It is delicious 😋
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
God bless you 🙏
I'm an eastern NC girl and this recipe brings back memories.
Look at it this way- more of that lovely gravy for you. 😁
@@diannelavoie5385 I made it last week too. It turned out lovely. Leftover gravy I keep and pour it over something else. : - )
Lol. Loved the video, makes me smile.
I love your hubby’s expressions, and then he’s even funnier when he looks right in camera lol
The cube steak looks wonderful! Will definitely try the oven method, thanks for sharing!
You guys are too cute haha-I had to subscribe :)
Edit: I should have come back and said how it turned out-it was AMAZING. Fork tender!
It looks real good making won't
It looks real good I'm ready for up peace
He is a hoot
Thank you ma’am for sharing this wonderful, hearty , delicious, and easy recipe. I made this for my family yesterday and we absolutely loved it. It was truly amazing and so flavorful and moist and delicious. I will definitely add to my rotation of meals. Thank you again for showing how inexpensive ingredients can make something truly memorable and delicious. Praying that God continues to bless you and your family.
Mrs. Donna, your cooking and your relationship with your husband are both to die for! Stay blessed.❤❤❤
I just love watching your videos! I can tell you are a fantastic cook! Your family is lucky! This cube steak has made my mouth water.......so I will be trying your recipe this weekend! You are so genuine and so entertaining!
Y’all are too sweet together. Food looks amazing.
That looks delicious. I love the way you made your gravy. My Mom made something similar in the iron cast pan. She called it swiss steak and it was good. Hubby is blessed, he does the taste testing.
WHAT'S ADDED TO THIS RECIPE TO MAKE IT THE "SWISS" VERSION, BCZ I'VE HEARD OF "SWISS-STEAKS"
@@tonyareese4045 I can't remember. My sister ask me the same thing, I can't remember, sorry.
Heyyyy there Kris!!!! WELCOME!!!🥰
My mom used to make the best cube steak. This sure looks a lot like it. I can’t wait to try this recipe. Thank you.
Felt like I was in my mama's kitchen!! ❤❤ this tutorial. Thank you for the smiles!
THANK YOU! DELICIOUS AND SOOOOOOO EASY! MADE GRAVY SUCCESSFULLY FOR THE FIRST TIME USING THIS RECIPE! YOU ROCK!!
Heyyyy Yvonne!!! I'm soooo glad you enjoyed this recipe and your gravy was a success!!!🥰😊
Heyyy there Paulette!😊 No, because we're not shrimp eaters. And thank you soooo much!!!🥰
Tonight I used your recipe using venison cubed steak. It turned out great! This method really tenderized the ordinarily tough meat. My wife who doesn’t usually like venison absolutely loved it!
Thank you, Miss Donna.
My mom used to make cube steak sandwiches on rye with grilled onions. They were fantastic! Going to have to try this recipe, it looks amazing.
Ooooowwweeee Sharon....That sounds delicious!!! I love grilled onions on a sandwich!!!😊🥰
Thats called a Patty Melt
I used to think my family in Philly were the only black people that ate rye bread
