Name the horse you rode into town on! GO!
Her name is Selene, and I am also the horse.
The horse was named Friday!
Thompson, you've done good feller
john
The horse's name was Buell.
This one is special for me. I found poor man's poison as a little indie UA-cam band before they blew up. You did such a wonderful cover, awesome work.
Same... I found it hilarious when a friend of mine asked me if I knew that song and I was like: "yeah I know that band for months now"
I don't use tiktok and I was super confused about why the song suddenly blew up
same
been listening to them for years and this comment is how I found out they blew up
Afaik they are still a little indie UA-cam band. What happened?
@@criseist9786 A good few of their songs, including the one this video is a cover of, became popular sounds/background music on TikTok, causing a jump in the band and song's popularity
This is the perfect example of a man doing what he loves and loving every second of it. Thank Colm!!
Awesome 👍
Imagine he would do Feed the machines ❤❤❤
"I am the RATCHOUS HAYND OF GAD!" I love how much you leaned into the american pronounciations here, amazing performance as always 👍
I love it!
Needs a little bit of that southern/texas accent though.
I would pay good money to see this man walk into karaoke night, get up on stage, and just announce in that baritone "Hell's coming with me", then walk away.
My karaoke go to’s are Rick Astley and Wheeler Walker Jr. 🤙
Imagine this with a Russian folk flair
(Lyrics):
They all laughed as he turned around slow
They said you ain't welcome ’round here anymore
You just might as well go
He wiped the blood from his face as he slowly came to his knees
He said I'll be back when you least expect it
And hell's comin' with me
Hell’s coming with me
There is a hill at the bottom of the valley
Where all the poor souls go when they die
And if you listen real close, you can hear 'em like a ghost
Saying you're never gonna make it out alive
There is a town at the bottom of that hill
They got a secret that they keep like a slave
They got a black magic preacher, we'd do well to let him teach ya
You'll be heading up that hill to the grave
And it is well, with my soul
You line your pockets full of money that you steal from the poor
And on your way down to hell, you hear me ring that bell
I'd pay the devil twice as much to keep your soul
There was a drifter passing through that little valley
See he had promised he was coming back to town
They didn't know him by his face, or by the gun around his waist
But he'd come back to burn that town to the ground
First there was fire
Then there was smoke
Then that preacher man was hangin’ by a rope
Then they all fell to their knees and begged that drifter, begged him please,
As he raised his fist before he spoke
I am the righteous hand of God
And I am the devil that you forgot
And I told you one day you will see, that I’ll be back I guarantee
And that hell's comin', hell’s coming
Hell, hell's comin' with me
And it is well, with my soul
You line your pockets full of money that you steal from the poor
And on your way down to hell, you hear me ring that bell
And I said, hell's comin' with me
Thanks 🤠
Oh yeah! I'm definitely gonna try to sing this myself
Thank you for this!
Colm keeps covering my favourite songs. Thanks man. Legendary!
Fr, I was so excited when I saw this pop up lol
All he needs to cover now is Curses by The Crane Wives.
@@lowlydovahkiin8084 That would be great, or the Hand That Feeds
Fr, i even prefer some of Colm's versions of songs. I wish he'd do a cover of one of The Dead South songs. They're my favourite band, A Broken Cowboy is my favourite song, which is also why its my username on almost everything😂
@@ABrokenCowboythe dead south ain't half bad
The two different folk genres mix. As a die hard pmp and Colm fan this is the best thing ever. Another amazing and unique rendition. Strong work.
Hell yeah Colm! This type of music is PERFECT for your talents!
This is beyond amazing, it's perfect. I can only imagine Feed the Machine
I would love if he did feed the machine😭
on my knees begging for a cover of feed the machine fr
Oh god, feed the machine would be spectacular!
Give And Take would be another good one. Hey just do all of them.
YES
A minute in and I'm already hitting that Like button. Your vocal range is incredible! Another awesome video!
Any chance we'll see a rendition of Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier in the future?
Great suggestion!
Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier would be amazing!
That would be such a great video!!!!!!!
How about I Wanna Be in the Cavalry Redux, which shows the gruesome truth of combat after the glory of the first part extolling the virtues of the Cavalr.
@@connormclernon26 he already did that one. ua-cam.com/video/-LH40tNs45o/v-deo.html
Literally just listened to poor man's poison yesterday, wondering how you yet to cover them because your voice is so perfect for their sound. and mate, idk how you keep completely blowing past my expectations, but you do. every time. this is such a gorgeous cover. This one's going on repeat asap!!
Ya, found this song through UA-cam shorts a while ago (one of the few things good about a ton of people doing the same video) and even used it for part of my D&D characters backstory
Same, i just first actually listened to this song yesterday.
Outside of shorts
Now western ballads?! Is there anything this man can’t sing? This was my favorite version of this song. He nailed it
Please, please, please, do more Poor Man's Poison covers. You've done an amazing job with this one, I'd love to see some of the others. Keep up the wonderful, amazing work there Cap'n Colm.
Your voice really carries a different tale with this song. The opening part just describes a gentle man pushed to far, only to show what kind of hell they force to show with how you sing the rest of the song.
YOOOOO, another Colm classic! Kept true to Poor Man's Poison while delivering your unique twist we all love. Simply wounderful.
The problem with covering Hell's Comin' With Me is that it's quite difficult to actually match the original in quality, but I think you have managed it!
I actually think this is better than the original
I like both and while I prefer the original it takes a ***REALLY*** special song and artist to one-up the original in more cases than not. Johnny Cash's "Hurt" comes to mind.
First Corb Lund, now Poor Man's Poison. Colm is slowly covering all my most favourite recent finds and they're all absolutely fantastic!
Never mind the vocals (which are awesome) -- I'm just impressed at the number of instruments this man can play!
Oh my goodness!!!! I wanted you to do this song so badly. Utter perfection. You REALLY upped the American folk on this one. That accent, that drawl, they capture the feeling of the Deep South and Wild West so well. Your mastery of sea shanties and Irish folk tunes is certainly my favorite thing about this channel, but you also have such a firm understanding of the American sound too. Cheers friend.
The first section I was like “Nah, I won’t skip it this time. Feels like a build up.” And then I get hit with one of the best songs I’ve heard!
Gotta say Colm doing American Folk is an unexpectedly amazing mix! Please do more
The accent, the accompaniment, the growl on the low register. A masterpiece my guy!
Oh man, I've just come to a house in the countryside to spend an August night with my buds, to roast some meat and to drink some gin with tonic, and what do I get? Another amazing Colm's song! Cheers and thank you!
You are truly living your best life, mate! 🫡
I CANT BELIEVE YOU DID THIS ONE!!! I've been binge-listening to this original song for ages and now you've covered it.... YEEESSS
I used to live near Hanford, I would go see Poor Man’s Poison anytime they were in town.
“A child not embraced by the town will burn it down to feel its warmth.”
This is one of my favorite songs ever, and the fact you covered it has made my whole week. Instant place in my playlist.
Love this song, and your version is great! I'd love to hear your version of "Feed the Machine" by the same group if you're open to suggestions!
I can only imagine what feed the machine would sound if this guy were to cover it
I remember when Poor Man's Poison was just a small indie band and now I have one of my favorite musicians covering their work ❤ Awesome~! ❤
That was amazing! I love the dichotomy between the higher range at the beginning, the lower before the main part, and the gruffness throughout the rest. It was amazing and I can't wait to see what you do next!
*ONE MORE SCORE, ARTHUR!*
ПОТРЯСНО!!! ЕЕЕМАЕ Я ОБОЖАЮ ЭТУ ПЕСНЮ, ТАК ЕЩЕ И С ТВОИМ ГОЛОСОМ❤❤❤
Now that's what I call "Let the Devil sing" I love imagining the Devil singing this song.
I needed this one. Huge poor man's poison fan and just as big of a colm fan
I do have a problem with this song. It's too short. Have had to listen to it on repeat.
And I didn't think my day could get any better.
Love your music to bits mate
He is so expressive when he sings anyway and shows he enjoys his "work". But, wow, did he ever enjoy this one. I found him by accident one day and I’m glad I did
Colm your ability to keep putting out bangers is phenomenal
Just got addicted in irish tavern songs... And I came to this channel🙏🙏🙏
Takes me straight back into Kenshi. When I started my own faction we were assaulted early on by the Holy Nation. I became a peak martial artist, master of fist and utterly untouchable in combat-elusive as trying to cut the wind. Truely, Hell came with me when I marched on the Holy Nation with an army of skeletons all trained to mastery over the fist and we tore the entire nation to the ground in a glory of flying limbs and split skulls.
Had the OG "Hell's Comin' With Me" blaring in the background as I razed their cities and freed their slaves.
Good times.
Good cover.
the fact he went over the top and wore the waist coat and bow tie
I had to pause and take a breath at the sudden deep voice. Literal chills. Great job.
This came right on time to blast out during a farm sale today. Lots of dancing and clapping and people asking who's that handsome man in the bowtie with the killer voice. Love from the Carolinas!
I have never needed anything more than this man to cover Providence.
" I am the righteous hand of God! I am the devil you forgot! " That is so powerful sentence and Im stealing that and using it..
Glad you're showing Poor Man's Poison some love, man. *Especially* this song. 👌😩
You should definitely do more Poor Man's Poison covers ! Maybe a Barns Courtney one ? I feel like Golden Dandelions, Kicks, or Sinners would be absolutely perfect
The switch from an Irish accent to an American one was very cool
MAGNIFICENT! Our ears have been blessed ✨
One of my favourite singers covering one of my favourite songs by my favourite band! Hell yeah!! Absolutely phenomenal!
This is one of my favorite music channels. You have a phenomenal voice, and the power and passion that you bring to each and every song you sing is absolutely fantastic.
This is the first cover that does justice to the "righteous hand of god" part. No other artist has been able to give it the power it deserves.
Incredibly faithful recreation of my favorite Poor Man's Poison song. Can't believe this didn't get recommended to me sooner.
Wow! Just absolutely transfixing!
This is an amazing example of a cover! You maintain to atmosphere provided by the original while also adding that Colm sound. Great job 👍🏻
Im so happy you stuck with these older style songs. So good for your voice.
This is the first song from you I've seen, and I was not expecting that first deeper note. I went oop 😳in the best way. Great job, I think this is my favorite cover of this song now
This is legit one of my favorite songs, what a brilliant cover!
This man never misses.
THIS GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS!
Excellent! Makes me think I'd love to hear your take on The Devil went down to Georgia
I'm a big fan of the original song and Poor Man's Poison in general, and I absolutely LOVE this cover!! I love all the little ways this differs from the original, especially in which words/lines you emphasize and in the way you "growl" some of the lines (Idk the term for it)! Fantastic job!
Oooooh, I just realized how much I need Colm to cover Terrance Zdunich songs from his musicals. Devil's Carnival, Repo! The Genetic Opera, American Murder Song, etc.
I'd love to hear him remaster those songs. Graverobber doing 21st Century Cure, Anthony Stewart Head's Night Surgeon, the Devil's part in "In All My Dream I Drown" or "Grace for Sale, or just a solo rendition of "The Six-Mile Inn".
This is a great song, and it’s blown up for background music for shorts, which is mainly how I e hears it, but Colm did an amazing performance
Finally, somebody realizes the talent of poor man's poison.
ABSOLUTELY LEGENDARY i have listen to this on repeat 500 times now
I never thought this song would fit your voice as well as it does. Amazing cover.
Woah! I was going to ask you to sing "We all lift together", a hidden gem on Warframe.
What a surprise to see that you sang it two years ago!!!
@ColmRMcGuinness
I listened to this.. and at the time I was obsessed with Poor Mans Poison.. and you melted my heart with this
I also love the western feeling in it.. I have heard all your covers, and I absoloutely adore them.. Thank you for making another awesome cover (Sorry this might have been a little late, never thought about commenting)
I cant wait to have this in my spotify wrapped this year.
This is SO GOOD! This song seems to be making the rounds of the cover circuit lately, and I've heard a few versions now, but I think this one captures it best so far--the emotion, the cultural background, the energy. Truly excellent work.
Best cover, hands down!
this guy’s got some really lucky neighbors
I love this!!! I am so happy to hear Dead Man's Poison from you. Another great one for you to cover would be Give and Take.
I love this cover so much! You need to do Feed The Machine!
Yes ! Yes and even more Yes !
This is exactly what I need !
Poor man's poison make some of the best songs, And you are one of the best youtube singers. The combo is excellent.
My only wish is for more of this.
Cheers mate.
I've been listening to this song for years.
You sir have been on fire with the covers as of late! Loving it, keep up the good work!
Amazing! I love all your covers, but I think this and the Chemical Workers Song are easily your best ones. Your emotion alone gives me goosebumps. I can’t wait for this to be added to Spotify, and hope you end up covering Feed The Machine and Give And Take also by Poor Man’s Poison: Those two songs seem right up your alley!
Also, I love your outfits in this one.
As a Texan, you sing with our accent magnificently. That was fantastic.
Hell yea Colm! U do pure art in my ears - love ur sound so much
This is awesome! I'm so glad that poor mans poison is getting the recognition they deserve.
I was so happy when I saw the title of this video because I have been waiting an unhealthy amount of time for you to sing this song!!!
The ongoing saga of you somehow consistently covering my Spawn's favourite songs continues.... He's so damn happy right now :D
Poor Man's Poison is a gem that reconnects with some of the old country sentiments that I feel have been lost along the way.
Yes! I just knew your voice would sound stellar for this song!!!
Dear Colm. I want to pay respect to ye. Because you make fantastic music. I'm not joking. I think you're master of singing songs. Keep going in positive way. Good luck 👊
The smoke rose and spilled for hours. The fires raged almost ceaseless late into the night. Only one pair of boots was shown to walk out of that town that day...echoed by the remains of the towns bell.
Love your channel and your voice and singing cheap making videos and I'll keep watching them and sharing your videos to my family I no this one will get a lot of families very excited thank you you've made this California very happy for makes me happy
Oi !
Thanks mate for covering one of my favorite song, thank you Colm
Holy shit…I didn’t think I would be surprised by you so fast. First the masterpiece you did for Bink’s Brew and now this. A surprise for sure but a welcomed one.
Cheers from the USA! l am loving all the American music you have been doing recently
Every song from Colm I hear just really cements him as by far my favourite artist, the passion he puts into every song both in the vocals and instruments is just incredible
Magnificent, Colm! I absolutely love this!
This song suited you very well. Beautiful job composing.
The noise that came out of my mouth when I saw this in my recommendation was unholy. As beautiful as always, friend. As beautiful as always.
I have not heard of this song before but WOW this is the perfect Colm song! What a fabulous cover. I would soooo love to have you do more like this!!!
