In the eighties, my dad was maintaining a fleet of old highway patrol cars for a business that was experiencing union troubles. They would idle all night in front of the homes of management and the the bigblocks would get carboned up. Every week we did what was known as "an Italian tune up." My dad would tell us to put it in low and drive the cars at 40 to burn off the carbon. We'd take them out on the highway instead. For a big car, it was amazing how well they handled and man, they really went. They had certified 140 mile an hour speedometers and they would do that with no problem. The phenolic bodies on the thermoquads would sometimes weep.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Definitely the Bluesmobile!!!
Briar is really coming along. He is a quick leaner. You are very lucky to have someone helping you that’s into learning. He is also getting better at bantering with you 😂😂😂😂
That was a fun ride! Congrats on achieving your goal of obtaining a real police pack 74-75 Dodge Monaco, Dylan. We loved "the Dukes" as kids and the cop car chases were always over the top, exciting, and often hilarious. Props for the edit of "One Armed Bandits" at the end of the episode. Merry Christmas and happy new year from the Motor City!
Watching from the UK! Dukes were always on about 5pm on a Saturday over here. I still have a Ferguson VHS video tape full of episodes recorded off the TV at that time on our rented top losder VCR 😂 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🎅🌲
It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
@Frankensteins_Highboy is that lift bridge still the same as in the movie? I’m half a world away in the Uk but loved every minute of that film , all my pals total petrolheads back in the day!
This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect city police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect city police car! They were practically givin' 'em away! It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
I’ve enjoyed your channel from back when I saw you as a “young guy”….and now I get to see your cute little pumpkin, hanging out with dad. She’s adorable! Great work, DM, and cherish that little girl! Merry Christmas!
That is absolutely awesome, to see that old Momaco running. I use to watch dukes of hazard, and for a long time I wondered what make and model that car was. That is really cool 😎👍 to it running well, I look forward to seeing part 2 really awesome 😎👍
Briar has been adding much to the grind of wrenching and he has made much improvement in feeling comfortable being himself on camera. If you see this Briar, just know you are making Dyan's channel, for me at least, alot more enjoyable.
Especially when that cheap leather stop washer rots away! I rebuilt/took apart enough of those Highland Park junks. Glad when they came out with the small high torque models with direct drive.Quiet and smooth.
I really would kove to see that car fixed up, an E68 400 is a gem, you can build a 499 or 512 stroker with 440 Source heads and make 650hp on pump gas, I think it would be great cleaned up and eventually restored to some extent, those '74 Monacos might as well be a Charger or Roadrunner these days, more rare by the day and very special, special order police package monster.
made me laugh when clicking the switch on the floor and then then saying it makes a light turn on in the dash 🤣🤣 That's the high beam switch! I wish we still had that.
Merry Christmas from Sydney Australia. Excellent work Dylan and Bryer. Hope you spend Christmas day with your hearts filled with God's love. And paint for the 74 Dodge. 🎄🌏
Hi Dylan , awesome video Best give you alittle heads up , I had a 75 gran fury exterior and interior parts are made of unobtanium so be really careful with what you have , the grill and headlamp bezels ( which look really good on yours 👍) are sold for silly money , you’ll struggle to find the door panels however 74-77 Monaco and gran fury should fit so take what you can get Also ….. don’t break the windshield !! It took me 3 weeks to find one calling every day every glass specialist , you can’t find them !!
"I wonder how bad the wiring is gonna be" 😂😂 Come on man, it's a mopar, you know the wiring is gonna be crap.😁 Love it bro, this is gonna look cool 😎. I hate to be that guy but, please wear some safety glasses, that backfire was pretty wild, glad you weren't hurt. Keep the great vids coming 👍🔥🔥
Hey Dude, paint that thing up, I love it, you heard from me B4, I'm Mopar Nate from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!!! My '72 Fury lll has a 400 4 barrel, gotta get electrical work done, other than that, it's a Helluva nice car, don't wanna trash it!!! Mopar Nate Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Watch the pre starting techs, them carburetor fires ain't no joke, that's why I'm partially blind now, carburetor coughed in my face and blinded me!!! I wear Richard Petty's Sunglasses from the '70s with special lenses in the frames!!! Wow Dylan, that '74 Monaco sounds great, sounds like my Fury!!! Mopar Nate, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
I think you are on the right track about the distributor. I have encountered the same symptoms many times over the years, and failing pickups are a common theme. I will say that if you have an original set that are still working, they are your best bet because the newer ones just aren't as reliable. Great video Dylan, thank you for sharing. You just can't beat the old "C" bodies. They definitely got all the extra love from Chrysler, better paint, better everything. They were the flagship vehicles.
My brother bought one back in the 80s for 200 bucks. We found it in the driveway one morning with the whole front suspension collapsed on the ground and drag marks all the way down the street where he had driven it in that way. Watching him try to tell dad he missed a dog was priceless. Sold the 400 engine for 200 and scrapped the body
Good Evening Sir, I hope you are doing well and having a great day today ! I hope you and your Family will have a Fantastic Christmas and Happy New Year ! Your Family , friends, neighbors and even your enemies ! May God Bless You ! 😊
If it were mine, it would be a Hazzard police car. They had a 74 Monaco in the first five episodes only. The second time it was jumped it bent the frame.
I lived in Covington from the age of 7 to around 13 but there was one of these that sat right right in front of a house on Conyers street for a very long time. I wonder if this is that one. The man that had I dont remember his name but he also had a patrol car that said City of Sparta Police. Its been over 20 years since I been back. Thanks for the memories!
I singed my eye brows once when I was adjusting the timing on my friends 69 mustang and backfired through the carb just like yours did and singed my eyes Brows completely off my friend couldn’t stop laughing at me lol 😂 I was a couple of inches away from the carb all I remember seeing was fire 🔥 lol 😂
I like the car Dylan. I actually drove one while policing in a small town here in N.C. when it was brand new. Sure brings back old memories. Would sure like to do a retro donut. Make it a proud RETRO> Thanks Bill.
Reminds me of the cop cars in this first 5 episodes of the Dukes Of Hazzard you should try to get the Federal Signal Aerodynic (mainly a CA one with the steady burn lights) lightbar to match but that's cool that you have one
Excellent Video Bryer :) , Dylan :) and I remember my one uncle work on Railroad for CP & CN as Foreman Boss his car was Black to after that not sure much about it was many years ago !
Good videos, just a tip from an old electrician. Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running as it could cause a voltage spike that kills everything .
I saw this for sale on Facebook. I was tempted because a 74 Monaco is my dream car. But I don't live in America so I passed :/ Won't find one of these in Sweden ever.
Hey there Dylan McCool, you can still get some patch panels from the other roof tops to fix the one you are working on and you should also put an LSD in the rear end to get both wheels spinning
It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas.
Just some info, your arrodynic bar is a very basic option, with just 2 rotators, and big mirrors, while roscoes uses 2-3 rotators per end, along with 2 flashers on the end. Still looks amazing tho!
Firstly you look so different with a beard. Its a good look. LOL Dylan Its not to bad. It actually has trans oil and compression to start with. That will be a first for a car youve bought. They usually need a few litres. The original blue looks like the Canadian State patrol cars blue. It keeps getting better. Now a light bar. Wow.
It’s got a cop motor, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks and it’s a model made before catalytic converters so will run good on regular gas. You know this thing is a prime candidate for the Blues Mobile.
it is the bluesmobile, but it's also roscoe's car from the pilot. much better looking than the later model dodges that proliferated in the hazzard county fleet IMO. dunno why ertil insisted that he drove a caprice ...
That's gotta be some kind of UA-cam record. I've never seen a video of this kind where the wheels didn't have to come off! Not to mention 3 held air and the 4th aired up!
In the eighties, my dad was maintaining a fleet of old highway patrol cars for a business that was experiencing union troubles. A 1974 Monaco is more famous for being the "Bluesmobile" in The Blues Brothers. Btw, I have a barn find 74 Monaco Bluesmobile on my channel.
Dylan needs a suit, fedora, shades, and a drive thru a mall
Roscoe’s season 1 car
Absolutely ❤
Agreed it's a year to old roscoe s car was a mid to late 70s
Needs a S.C.M.O.D.S unit...
_state county municipal offender data systen_
You, Kevin, PBG need to get together and dress up as the characters, Dalton would be hilarious as boss Hogg 😂
Boss Hog or Roscoe fit Dalton all to well
Actually The Inevitable Jim would be perfect as Boss Hogg
Dalton as rosco Jim as boss hog
I love how you found the Accurate AeroDynic with the old style of mounting brackets and the speaker section!!
That was a fun ride! Congrats on achieving your goal of obtaining a real police pack 74-75 Dodge Monaco, Dylan. Ditto
That's awesome 👍🏻. Sleeper dude picked up a sweet light bar with the blue and red lenses.
Watching from the UK! Dukes were always on about 5pm on a Saturday over here. I still have a Ferguson VHS video tape full of episodes recorded off the TV at that time on our rented top losder VCR 😂 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🎅🌲
Watching from Australia Rosco rocks
I'd put it back together as an unmarked car again, those are the holy grail of police cars. '74 was the last of the uncatalized big block monsters.
It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
'76
When Elwood stood on it at the bridge and the back tyres lit up 🔥 seems like yesterday !
@@muckle8 I work directly across the Des Plaines River from the Collins street prison. Very big fan of it
@Frankensteins_Highboy is that lift bridge still the same as in the movie? I’m half a world away in the Uk but loved every minute of that film , all my pals total petrolheads back in the day!
I can't make this up: Right after your hair was singed, UA-cam showed an ad for an alopecia cure.
Hazzard County? No way. This model will (to me) always be "The Blues Mobile".
This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect city police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect city police car! They were practically givin' 'em away! @@chezsnailez Fix the cigarette lighter…
All I see .
I'm willing to bet he traded the car for a Microphone
Same here
I know you invested in the light bar, but I absolutely would repaint that to look like an old Mt. Prospect City police car, because Blues Brothers..
I’ve enjoyed your channel from back when I saw you as a “young guy”….and now I get to see your cute little pumpkin, hanging out with dad. She’s adorable!

I like it when Briar helps you and it seems he's getting comfortable enough to be more talkative. You guys hang in there & Merry Christmas.
Briar has been adding much to the grind of wrenching and he has made much improvement in feeling comfortable being himself on camera.
If you see this Briar, just know you are making Dyan's channel, for me at least, alot more enjoyable.
The old Mopar starter after awhile they start sounding like they screaming STOPPPP STOPPPP!!!!!!😂
Especially when that cheap leather stop washer rots away! I rebuilt/took apart enough of those Highland Park junks. Glad when they came out with the small high torque models with direct drive.Quiet and smooth.
James Best (actor who played ROSCOE) IS LOOKING DOWN Smiling.
Yes he is he was a great actor
Actually they all were

this and the Diplomat together in the same livery would be sick. always loved old mopar squad cars
made me laugh when clicking the switch on the floor and then then saying it makes a light turn on in the dash 🤣🤣 That's the high beam switch! I wish we still had that.
I could just hear Uncle Jesse hollerin' "GO FER IT BOYS!!!" Merry Christmas, highly enjoyed the video.
Merry Christmas from Sydney Australia.
Excellent work Dylan and Bryer. Hope you spend Christmas day with your hearts filled with God's love.
And paint for the 74 Dodge.
🎄🌏
Always liked the early to mid 70's bumpers, big but always stylish.
I love that yall do these projects together, always a fullview
The Monaco, just like you two fellas, ROCKS!
At 1:24:45, sounds just like the Bluesmobile in The Blues Brothers. What a car!
That Aerodynic was an EXCELLENT choice for the lightbar. Love it man!
Most original power door lock setup I've ever seen!
FREE OF CHARGE!!!
😂😂😂
Look at Briar with the dad jokes.
Hi Dylan , awesome video
Best give you alittle heads up , I had a 75 gran fury
exterior and interior parts are made of unobtanium so be really careful with what you have , the grill and headlamp bezels ( which look really good on yours 👍) are sold for silly money , you’ll struggle to find the door panels however 74-77 Monaco and gran fury should fit so take what you can get

Get with Sleeper Dude he just picked up a red and blue light bar.
What an “Explosive” episode Dylan…looks like you lost your McCool and maybe a little more when that carburetor backfired 😂😂 Good stuff guys!!!

Another car I’ve always wanted but can’t find but somehow it just falls in your lap! Super jealous. That 400 sounds phenomenal with that exhaust!
You should do a hazzard police chase with that car and the general lee
My Mom had a 74 Monaco. Lime green, white interior, and a 318. Great for family road trips.
Merry Christmas Pastor Dylan! I'll see you tomorrow in church.
If it were mine, it would be a Hazzard police car. They had a 74 Monaco in the first five episodes only. The second time it was jumped it bent the frame.
Was taken for a ride in an actual police Monaco back in the 80s , buried the 140 speedo, scared the crap out of me!
I daily drive a Bluesmobile here in Australia! Going to enjoy this content.
Awsome video with that car. Fix The rust and interior. All decals on it are cool

Good videos, just a tip from an old electrician. Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running as it could cause a voltage spike that kills everything .
Looks like you have some Mopar electrical issues to work out. I remember them well with my 76 Fury and Ram Charger. Enjoy the Monaco. Good Job.
I had a 1977 Dodge Monaco Royal, miss that car 😢
I saw this for sale on Facebook. I was tempted because a 74 Monaco is my dream car. But I don't live in America so I passed :/

Starting to look like a police car convention around there!😂
when sluggish, i always check the vacuum lines to the transmission or the kick down module it connects to.
This bad-daddy sure sounds like she ain't messing around and 140 is no sweat 😂
The horn probably has a dirt dobber nest in it. They are notorious for building nests in car horns, and it is a chore cleaning them out
56:57 DANG! Now I bet that’s the angry cop coming to get you!
Love the Mopar channel.
Looks like a potential power tour car.
dylan is gonna have his own police department soon
