Derek, you are a throwback mechanic which is how I learned, working on cars from the age of 9 with a friend of my father's in London England. He taught me the old ways of troubleshooting which I have used now for almost 50 years got my automotive engineering degree because of Colin and my old man. It is refreshing to see the proper ways to investigate, troubleshoot and fix. I am here in Texas now for the last 20 years and you are my primary YT go to when I have free time. Keep up the good work and bringing the long dead and forgotten back to life from one Derek to the other Derek you are the Man!!
I can't tell if it's Derek going "TSSSSSST" or if he's actually using a spray can anymore. I was offered a similar truck about 20 years ago. I was rocking an '80 GMC 1/2 ton, short box, stepside, factory black on red, 350/4-speed 4x4..... was offered a '78 Dodge 1/2 ton steppy, was a 2wd truck with a 400/4bbl/4-speed combo. Guy wanted to trade straight across. Probably should have traded. And then the square body market exploded and even rusty junk is worth 10k. Luckily, I sold mine before that happened.
Oh yeah don't you know I sold all three of mine before it exploded. Paid $1600 for the last one. Was lowered, had a fresh paint job, mint interior, 383 stroler with a hi rinse intake and a monster cam, fully built trans and everything worked. I couldn't get more than $2000 for it no matter how hard i tried. Wouldn't a guy know if I went to go buy that same truck again they'd be asking close to $10k for it. The other 2 I sold for $300 each cuz i paid $200 each for em running and driving. Today that won't even get ya a door.
@@Gkitchens1 I got $3500 for mine. It needed cab corners and a new wood bed, but had been babied 95% of it's life with only one repaint. Original front seat cover was worn, but not cracked/ripped or torn up. Find another black on red one though. I've never seen another one. AND a GMC, not a Chivvy.

He IS human after all!
I'd of said 30-60 curse words by that point!
You still are the easiest going mech-kin-ek I've ever known!!
Yup i just love this Guy sens of humor he makes my Day way better... Perfect. Greatings from Poland
Love the talking to yourself out loud while working, “I wonder Sammy Kershaw is doing today?” So, true.. especially when a guy is broke down and a fella notices how nice it is outside. Derrick you really capture what so many of us can relate to...
Vice Grip Influence: A week ago I was walking down a snowy slope. I slipped. While falling I shouted, "Going Down!" Vice Grip is getting into my psyche.
You're passion for resurrecting the elderly Vehicles and giving them a second life is priceless. Your positive dry sense of humor is what keeps us watching and entertained. Never mind your gift of turning wrenches with Patience persistentance.
Keep it up you are definitely inspiring people to believe in themselves.
I'm stuck in my apartment bloody sick for the last week. Thank you Derek, you brought a smile to this old Dodge lover just when I needed it. As always a great video rescue
I wish you good health
“Anything but a Fram.” I knew there was a reason I liked you Derek.
Sames
What's wing with fram? I've used them for decades. What don't I know?
@@RideAMAP cut one in half and you'll see.
I remember this being such a small channel and now its growing and for good reason. Hope it keeps on growing thank you and please keep them coming.
33:48 "Anything but a Fram!" Fram products were made here in Rhode Island for many years starting in the 1930's, and were a quality product. Somewhere in the late '60s or early '70s, Bendix bought them, which began a string of ownership changes thatvled to a lesser quality product. It was sacrilege to use anything but a Fram around here. Purolator was the other big name filter here, unless you opted for a Quaker State (really cheap).
Just this little clip made me smile for the first time today.
Great last name ya got there Lee.
@@edwardneal4819 haha For sure. I have actually never met any of my relatives don't even know they exist just my mom and dad no grandparents uncle aunt's ext.
@@edwardneal4819 I mean I'm sure there's someone out there just never met any lol

It has been a while since I found someone worth my entertainment time. Thanks for staying positive.
This show really inspires me to find another old truck and bring it to life! Thank you for doing what you do!
That fabulous gear reduction sound of an early Mopar starter. Love it.
“The suns a shining, and I had a good sandwich. All is well”. I like this guy’s positive attitude.
Yup
Words to live by

My favorite channel on UA-cam hands down. Been here from the start.
Sir, I'd like to thank you. Thank you for keeping me motivated to keep working on cars. Thank you for helping me learn some things that my father(may he rest in peace) wasn't able to teach me. Watching your videos helped me get my first car started.
Seen this older video.. Derrick you never change. No matter how much fame and money you make ur still the same today.
Thank you sir!
Any other Fellers & Fellerettes feel that with each and every VGG video you enjoy a wobble pop with you just love this more and more? Absolutely love this channel 👌🏻
Yes just discovered Vice Grip Garage a couple of weeks ago. I'm having a hard time rationing myself to one or two a day! 🤣
Well the first video i saw of this channel was 3 days after the dodge royal hemi revival hit youtube only started saving on the drinking time after the regular Friday videos started maybe before but nowi have to explain why i went through a touch more pirate alcohol than i should have lol
The memories and sound's with my Grandfather and his 85 Dodge. Wish I had a truck like that again. Miss a real truck, trucks now a day's, no good. Love the channel.
I'm in the UK and have to admit your channel has plenty of humour and some brilliant fixes..
I just wanted to take a second to say thank you for making these fun videos. It’s been a tough week and I was feeling a bit worn out. This video popped up in my feed, and since Stepside Dodge trucks are my absolute favorite old truck, I gave it a watch.
You had me smiling and laughing in no time, and the weight of the week was lifted.
There is a bonus though, my 16 year old daughter sat down next to me, and before long, you had her rolling with laughter. “I ate a ladybug” had her really laughing. Thank you for not only lifting my spirits, but giving me a special moment with my daughter, who could care less about cars, but had a fun moment with her dad.
I just jammed out to a metal compilation video with my 8 year old gal, she could also care less about my kind of music but man she was GETTIN IT!
I CAN'T BREATHE - ABORT HAHAHA
Love you Derek!!! Thanks for taking us on another adventure with you!!
Give this guy a darn tv show reminds me of red green show

HI DEREK! Jim from UK...I've not been out of my house since March 2020 but I have three workshops to disappear into...one woodworking, one machine shop and one CNC and hitech gizmos.
I have very bad SAD so winter is hell and lacking any motivation so when I discovered your channel it was a total life change for me.
Your humour, skill and utter positivity pushed me...slap myself upside of the head and get my arse out into the workshop!
Thank you sir! Every day you bring me joy and positivity!
So this was a win in my book. You didn't drive it home but you did drive it and she's gonna live to see another day on the road so great job feller!
“Hello spider, why are you sooo mad?”
Classic!
Thanks for everything Derek 🇷🇴🇬🇧👍🏻🤣
Im new around here, but this is now my hands down favorite UA-cam channel. Original, clean so my kids can watch all these mini movies with me, and funny as all hell. Im making sure all my car buddies are watching also
That old pole barn had a smooth door.... first one I ever seen open like that...
Been sick alot already this year, and these videos make the days go by so nicely
I'm so happy I found your channel, with all the crap that's going on in the world its nice to know that you are out there by yourself trying to get a old rig back on the road. It's peaceful to watch. Thank you for the great content Derek💪
Just got home with a 30 pack. I couldn’t be more ready 😁
Thanks for watching
Thanks for providing the awesome content. 👌🏻
I now find myself saying “Bat tree” far too often, even about AA’s for my tv remote! Best one liners on UA-cam from this guy!
I went through as many as I could in 3 days and I'm so glad I keep finding more. Thanks man.
"It's flat but only on the bottom." 😂 Oh Derek we love you
One of my fav quotes.. 😂
Yeah, that was great!🤣
I could certainly sink a few cold snacks down in Queensland Australia, a guy gets bloody hot here.
@JohnnyHenry -8 would keep them pesky crocodiles away from a guys front yard dang it 🐊👍
I’ve been a dodge truck fan most of my life and owned several over the years. The one thing I’ve never had to worry about was the starter. I mashed my foot through the floor on my 77 once trying to turn the brights on.
The rain man you guys make me that you guys are just so cool and accurate is funny and funnier let's just say it makes me laugh hi we're going to be a girl I'm so frustrated I can't think straight I just blow it
Also enjoy watching Derrick. With you on the MOPAR starter's!!
Was around for 40+ years and a srarter was the least replaced item of all things. Really do like this show.
🤣🤣
A guy's got his effects down!
Same!
Man i wish we could go back to the days of engine bays looking like this.
“There’s a lot wrong, but.......it’s good!”
Classic.
this channel has to have the best statistics on youtube. i never skip. only rewind and rewatch
Appreciate that!
I briefly thought Derek cursed...then I realized he said “Roadkill”. Nice editing :-)
That’s the best intro to this with that music.
Thanks Eric
"boiled dog vomit with a hint of twizzlers"... who writes your material man! worth every penny!!
I just got to this part, and was coming to post it, but knew someone else had already done so. This is excellent!
24:18 - Hey! I've gotten lucky with my Mopar starter... it's been a trooper for years. It loves signing "the song of it's people".
this channel is the definition of American ingenuity.
A man sees a new video by Derek, so a man clicks and likes it before even watching 10 seconds of that video.
Those WiFi brakes made me laugh out loud. Keep on rolling. Love these videos. You always make me feel better and learn things too. Thank you.
I love the guitar rifts. My favorite way to fall asleep, riding through rural roads with happy guitar rifts. Best of America
"This one's flat but only on the bottom" Needed the laugh.😂😂😂
Man I'd love to go on one of these adventures with this dude. Literally could be my long lost brother! I swear this dude has damn near my personality!
Derek your editing is just getting better and better, Love it!
U ain’t kiddin. It’s the combination of
Just good content , his calming voice and the funny bits that keep me watching and coming back for more.
Plus he inspires me to work on projects I wouldn’t normally do
Im gonna do the right thing and go on ahead and like the video

Thats too many likes! Perfect
This guy is one of few that I click the like during the opening ad before the video actually starts.
First truck that I ever drove was my Papaws 1979 Dodge with a 318. This one brought back some very good memories. Thank you for all you do. This has quickly become my favorite channel. Awesome content as always!!
As a norwegian I really appreciate the Uffda at 11:22. Great channel and fantastic video!
