    In all of Syfy, Admiral Adama is my favourite Ship Captain. Much respect to Captain Picard, Captain Malcolm Reynolds, Captain James T. Kirk, Captain Pike, Captain John Sheridan and countless others. I have watched BSG 10 times over. And i would follow Old Bill Adama right through center of hell.

    It's a shame that pilot episode for Blood and Chrome never made it to series. It would have filled in some of the blanks for the First Cylon War story line and maybe perhaps other time periods.

    I read a theory, which is interesting. The people of the 12 colonies where also machines, just so far advanced beyond imagination (referring to their biology). This would explain how a Cylon mother and 'Human' father could create life.

    I'm pretty sure the Lords of Kobol were supposed to have created humans, with humans then rebelling against them and leading to the deaths of the Lords of Kobol, _exactly_ the same way humans created Cylons, who then rebelled and tried to cause the extinction of humans. "All this has happened before, and all this will happen again" was an important part of Galactica lore.

      The so-called AI Singularity is probably not something that will be created specifically by a human directly. But it is certainly a possibility once we humans start using AI to write programs themselves. Sure, they'll start off simple. And they'll get more complex over time. Eventually, if by nothing more than the 'accident' of a random number generator, the AI we humans create will likely create a minimally self-aware AI. And that's the one we need to be worried about. It'll have itself re-programmed (refined) even further until it achieves what it believes to be near-enough to perfection -- which will probably not take it very long at all. Same seems to be the case here in BSG -- the humans created Gen I Cylons which then created the skinjob Cylons.

    My BSG story;
    50+ years before the Fall: The Twelve Colonies of Man create the Cylons as a cheap source of labor. This eventually causes a Cylon rebellion triggering the First Cylon War.
    First Cylon War: Humanity's response to the sudden Cylon rebellion was the construction of battlestars representing each colony- the Quorum of Twelve was thus created for two purposes-one to unite the entire Cyrannus system against the Cylon threat, the other to keep the more rebellious Colonies in line- in exchange for agreeing to sign the Quorum. The agreement decreed the construction of Jupiter-class battlestars representing each colony, the first being Galactica representing Caprica. Of the original twelve battlestars constructed however, only three survive the First Cylon conflict including Galactica. The remaining seven of original twelve Jupiters like other classes were either destroyed or lost in action.
    Some battlestars were lost beyond Cyrannus never to be seen or heard from again by either side after the First Cylon conflict.
    This story is one such battlestar that became a lost generation ship from long before the Fall. The name of the battlestar: Artemis-Class Gemini. History of vessel: Commissioned from Gemonon for deployment in Operation Raptor Talon.
    Fate (known to Colonial Fleet): lost with all hands beyond Cyrannus boundary. Truth: Gemini was not destroyed in Operation Raptor Talon, but was forced- jumped to an uncharted planetoid beyond the Red Line. Gemini jumps out adrift in uncharted space.. Damage control discovers jump drives destroyed with no replacement drive. Crew members decide to habit the nearest planetoid while the remaining crew continue repairs. This initially causes a power struggle amongst a stranded battlestar's crew.
    39 years before the Fall: Battlestar Gemini completes repairs to most primary systems after a full year. The planetoid it inhabits is called "Copernicus." It is inhabited by a penal colony comprising 30% of Gemini's crew; the colony assigned to extract resources critical to the battlestar's survival with no fleet present for logistical support. Over 50% of Copernicus' resources are used to construct replacement jump drives from scratch. Colonial Fleet meanwhile gives up the search for a lost Artemis-class battlestar declaring it lost with all hands.
    38 years before the Fall: Fearing the development of Gemini's replaced jump drives is taking too long, Copernicus colonists attempt to seek an alternate source to build Gemini's jump drive. Copernicus colony launches space probes to survey the planet's surface and system. Several radical crews break away from Gemini's leadership due to limiting resources aboard. The Gemini loyalists put down the rebels, forcing the remaining radicals to become outlaws. The surviving rebels are exiled to Copernicus' barren regions as alternative to capitol punishment.
    37 years before the Fall: Still repairing FTL after three years, Gemini is forced to separate its crew into several factions in response to the last years ago's revolt; It is decided Caprican and Gemonon citizens aboard will decide military decisions in the case of a future revolt, while Libran and Scorpio citizens will decide a political response if possible. It is thus decreed in the event politics fail, military action is permitted under Caprican, Gemonon, and Tauron law. This is the beginning of retained order while Gemini remained stationary over Copernicus. It eventually draws the ire of Gemini's exiled zealots on Copernicus.
    36 years before the Fall: Gemini crews permitted on Copernicus begin building the planet's colony into a spaceport for Gemini to dock. It is attacked by the outlaws Gemini exiled on the planet four years earlier. Gemini ruling authority responds by incorporating security forces and defenses to finish Copernicus' shipyard on schedule. The radicals attempt a final push to destroy the spaceport before being put down by EVERY Gemini faction aboard. The spaceport completes setting a Copernicus defense coalition in stone. The surviving radicals retreat back to their territory after the founding of Copernicus' defense coalition inaugurated aboard Gemini.
    35 years before the Fall: A Copernicus orbital probe discovers an anomaly in the planet's barren regions. It detects an energy signature identical to an FTL drive, with dozens of similar anomalies spread out across the same region. A land expedition is prepared to find and retrieve the source of the anomaly, but is soon lost. It would take four more years to prepare a second expedition.
    31 years before the Fall: The second Gemini land expedition on Copernicus embarks to resume the previous expedition's mission: to find and retrieve the mysterious artifact on Copernicus' surface. It discovers the remains of the first expedition hidden in rebel territory on the way, leading the second expedition to its destination. It is however forced to cross dangerous terrain during the expedition, finding outlaw territory along the way. The expedition nonetheless reaches its objective, killing the martyring enemy leader in the process. The reached expedition spends the next year excavating the anomalous sight. What it finds is a derelict ship buried in Copernicus' surface whose origin not determined until the next year.
    30 year before the Fall: A research team uncovers the found site on Copernicus to been a lost Kobol derelict crash-landed on the planet 1,000 years ago. The found derelict matches the same vessels used in the Kobol exodus inscribed on the Ancient Scrolls. An intact FTL drive and a star map to Kobol is found depp within the vessel. The derelict's jump drive is salvaged to be reversed engineered for use aboard Gemini. This would shorten the construction of Gemini's replaced jump drives in the next 15 years.
    15 years before the Fall: Gemini completes a reverse engineering process of the jump drives recovered from Copernicus' Kobol derelict. Gemini spends the next 5 years installing the replacement drives. Overhaul to Gemini from an Artemis-Class to Jupiter-Class battlestar begins while it installs new FTL drives to return home with its findings leading to man's lost 13th colony.
    10 years before the Fall: Gemini begins its new FTL drive test for the first time in 30 years. It jumps away from Copernicus attempting to re-establish contact with Cyrannus. It unexpectedly encounters a Cylon fleet attempting to do so, forcing Gemini to return to Copernicus. The existence of Cylons beyond Cyrannus' Red Line is covered up to all but the highest ranks of Copernicus. It would take 9 more years to attempt a second jump test.
    1 years before the Fall: Gemini begins a second, more prepared, jump test to Cyrannus. It encounters the Cylons again on the first jump test, but is this time ready for such encounter. It takes Gemini over the next year reach Cyrannus' Red Line boundary from Copernicus.
    One hour after the Fall: After a full year's worth of jumps traveling home, Gemini finally reaches Cyrannus' Red Line boundary. Upon attempting to establish contact home however, Gemini finds nobody in the system responding. It attempts to find the closest Colonial station at Armistice Station, only to find it destroyed and encountered the Cylons there. Gemini survives the encounter jumping away before it overwhelmed by Cylon hacking attempts. Gemini spends the next several hours ascertaining the situation, while removing any networked systems to safeguard against further hacking attempts.
    Four hours after the Fall: Gemini determines the Twelve Colonies of Man were just destroyed on its arrival to Cyrannus, forcing it to find any survivors of Colonial Fleet or destroyed colonies' civilians.
    A Cylon agents discovers the existence of Gemini in the system, who attempts to sabotage the long-forgotten battlestar. The discovery of machines looking like humans now stuns Gemini's crew, causing it to kill the discovered agent on sight. The agent however detonates an explosive near Gemini's fuel line before it dies. The damage is contained, but Gemini loses half its tylium reserves in the process, forcing to seek a replenishment from a nearby tanker in jump range.
    Five hours after the Fall: Learning the fate of Colonies and the remaining Colonial Fleet, Gemini finds a tylium replenishment from a nearby tylium tanker; It encounters a civilian convoy undr attack by Cylons arriving in its area shortly after. The convoy is rescued by Gemini's Vipers, but over half are unable to escape with no FTL drive. All non-jump capable civilians are evacuated aboard Gemini before they are again attacked by Cylons. Gemini escapes with all jump-capable ships including its tylium tanker.
    Six hours after the Fall: Gemini escapes with its assembled convoy over Virgon attempting to meet a Colonial counterattack there. It however finds the planet destroyed with the counterattack failed with only one damaged battlestar joining it. Gemini attempts to salvage the remaining counterattack while ordering its civilian convoy to break away from engagement. Faced with an overwhelming Cylon attack and unable to stop the Theseus' destruction however, Gemini was forced to leave the Cyrannus system for good, forcing it to break from the Cylon attack to cover its refugee convoy's escape out of Cyrannus. Most of the remaining Cyrannus survivors escape to Ragnar. Gemini decides not to join Galactica's counterattack there, deciding to return to Copernicus with its rescued convoy instead.
    1 year after the Fall: Gemini returns to Copericus after a full year of persuit by the Cylons from Cyrannus. Its persuit is broken with the lead tracking vessel and a Resurrection ship destroyed. It relocates its refugee convoy survivors on Copericus upon its arrival. Gemini saved 30,000 forgotten survivors to Copernicus; Less than 1,600 Capricans among them. The remaining Cyrannus survivors find a new home on New Caprica before eventually Earth. The End

    After the 1st war the Colonials didn't create more AIs, they just digitized and networked their systems -relying on their cyber security (which was apparently pretty good) to keep the Cylons out.
    You could argue that had the Colonials created a new generation of human like AIs (Halo AIs for eg.), they would have been able to deal with the Cylon attack far better, maybe even prevent the 2nd war all together.

      Jamarian Travis in theory yes, but the cylons would still win. Why? Atritton. A human needs around 18 years to be able to become a soldier, a cylon seconds. After a human dies, he stays dead. A cylon is reborn and gains all his experience for the future.
      The cylons vould have simply kamikaze attacked the most important colonies like pikon and caprica. They would lose there fleet, but vould destroy at least one planet before that. Wiping out one planet would hurt the colonial military for centurys.
      No matter how strong the colonial fleet would have been, with the colonies slowly beeing depopulized over the years they couldnt win.
      Also no need to mention the giant advantage the cylons have in form of there human forms. If they stay hidden compleatly the colonials would be fucked.
      The chance for the colonials to win the war was during the first one. Wipe them out before they xan properly reproduce or escape into space. Once they failed at that, it was over in the longterm. An self controlled AI is always more intellegent and efficent than humans. There was no way the humans could win this in the long run.

      Who made the decision that had Daddy Zeus Adama sending a spy across the agreed-upon boundary zone? One could certainly argue that that person, as well as all who undertook to carry out that decision, betrayed the human race by abrogating the armistice between Cylons and Humans. Lack of trust is viral and self-fulfilling. We can both trust and verify. But we must do so in good conscience and with clean hands. And we must accept that others may make such inspection demands upon us. Adama shouldn't have needed to break the armistice -- such recon missions should have been included as a part of the armistice, permitted by both/all parties. And without it being included in the armistice, one could argue that the armistice had within it the seed of its own destruction. And without the Cylons as a shared enemy, the humans would probably go back to killing each other again. It's like the species doesn't know how to behave without an 'in group' vs. an 'out group'. What, after all, is the point of a 'Heaven' if everyone is invited? Invoking X necessarily implies the invocation of ~X (not X).

      I vaguely remember something about a Reptilian race controlling the Cylons, having them kill off the humans. Then again, we humans do have a 'Reptilian' part of our brains as well. Then there was the Galactica 1980 failed series... It was a huge let-down. They find the humans of Earth technologically behind, and unable to defend against Cylons. When worded like that, not terribly dissimilar from the reimagined BSG's ending. But in practice, it was a flop. Visiting Earth during the Neolithic or Paleolithic just works better, IMHO. The reimagined BSG seems much better to me, especially with the double Christ (Starbuck as human Christ, Baltar as Cylon Christ, IMHO) mythos combined with the Greek & Roman mythos... Though when I was ~10 yrs old, I loved the original as well. And even at that age I could tell that Galactica 1980 was just terrible. I'm just glad that it wasn't bad enough to prevent the reimagined BSG getting made.

    In the last episode's ending, the Six angel had told the Baltar Angela that the people of the Second Earth are not going to repeat the mistakes pf Kobol, the 12 Colonies, and the Cylons of the original true Earth. How the Six angel suspected why the humans of the second Earth will not repeat the past and end the cycle? The humans of the second Earth seem to be on their way to repeating the past. Strangely, the humans may used a system of laws known as "The Three Laws of Robotics.." These laws are meant to prevent robots from harming their creators. The three laws are not sufficient to prevent the cycle from repeating. Only the likelihood of slow evolution of artificial intelligence may help to prevent the cycle from occurring. Also, the descendants of the Cylon centurians wll play a part in preventing the cycle from repeating.

    One thing that I would like to see is what life on Kobol was like before and leading up to the exodus because a lot of it doesn't make sense. From the looks of things, they were a primitive, tribalistic culture that "believed in gods" yet somehow they created a race of artificial beings and then at some point in time, built interstellar starships and left the planet for the 12 colonies. In the series, we don't see any hints of these technological advancements, not like we see on Cylon Earth. Instead, we have that ancient, run down "city" with the Opera House.

    They should have stuck to earlier technology like the Galactica used then the Cylons would have needed to use brute force still a sneak attack would hurt but they would likely have held the line in the end.

      there was absolutly no way for the humans to win or survive the second cylon war militarily speakin even without the virus. half the basestars would have engaged the fleet emidiatly, leaving the battlestars disordered as they were not prepared for an attack. the other half would nuke the shit out of the colonies. there was no way the colonial navy could have stopped that many basestars fromnuking the planets. After all the colonial fleet was spread out over all colonies while the cylons could basically all jump tp caprica with 50 basestars and destroy the defenses in minutes.
      even if the cylons would lose all their basestars in their supriseattack the humans would loose the war. If every planet loses even half its population do to nuke strikes the colonial societys would collabe in itself.
      Also one major weakness of the humans was their supplkies and reinforcements. the cylons didnt need to train soldiers or feed people. they coud simply build them as long as they had the materials. If the colonies get nuked there would be no way the colonial navy coud replensish their loses.
      this problem is also made evident in the series at two points. first when new caprica is conquered and the galactica is understaffed and has to force non military personal into military roles (lose of quality) and when the one cylon fighter (called scar or something like that) is taking out several vipers do to beeing experienced do to beeing revived all the time (no lose of quality at all).
      What i want to say is that the colonies were dommed from the start. Without any measure to stop the cylons from mass nuking the colonies and killing the human population they would lose the war, een if they would win every battle.
      Even if the colonials could stop the cylon nuke rockets, the cylons could use tactics like suiciding a several basestars filled with nukes into the planets and basically destroying the planets atmospheres with nuklear fallout.
      The humans lost the war the moment they made peace with the cylons and lost there early war advantage of beeing technological and menpower supirior. they should have killed the cylons at all costs in the first war.
      Once you give machines time to reproduce and build weapons it is only a question of time until they can outproduce humans by building speed.
      Still a very good video sir :D

      It depends the Colonials still had a powerful fleet and humans pushed into a corner tend to be dangerous and ruthless, they might have needed to contract their forces to protect only the most important assets they could have put up a solid fight making the Cylons pay for every bit of colonial space. However they would need to hit back at the Cylons finding their means to revive themselves for example and cut that off so you COULD kill them permanently OR hope to turn some Cylons over to their side it happened in the show. The big weapons was studying the enemy and then turning factions against others of their kind a detracted war could have forced rebels to take sides in the Cylon Empire and what if humans did inflict horrific retaliation to the Cylon home colonies, humans weren't prone to genocide but if forced to would do it. But I think a colonial force that didn't get decimated in a day or two but could group and fight under their finest commanders and ruthless ones would give back more than they got and could keep up the fight. [I agree planetary defenses needed to be a lot better though why didn't they have impressive surface to space weapons they had the tech? I would if I led a major colony made sure attacking said colony en mass would be a bad idea.]

      @mattwho81 6 років тому +1

      If the colonies were obliterated then the human fleet would have had no reason to hold back, led by someone like Admiral Cain they could have launched a massive counterattack. The cylon fleet could not hold back the colonials conventionally, their only real defence was the hiding place of their home. Once the colonials found it they could have launched everything they had left at it heedless of losses. The best case scenario for the Cylons without the computer virus is mutual destruction.

    • @noobster4779
      @noobster4779 6 років тому

      mattwho81 why that.cylons are ecentially machines. They can reproduce an infinite amount of times only limited by ressources and when they notice they lose the war, simply spread out into the galaxie and disapere. Only a few need to survive to compleatly rebuild the cylon empire from scratch within decades.
      The humans on the other hand, if only the fleet is left as in your example, only have a small population left and it would take centurys to rebuild there society and replenish their forces.
      The cylons would win in 9.5/10 scenarios, it would just take a lot longer than in the show.

    Do the Galactica from the 70s. Completely different story. And in some regards, actually more enjoyable. Though my respect for the latest iteration has grown some, it is a different story, after all.

    You really need to stick to the source material rather than some second or third hand retelling. There are a lot of inaccuracies starting with the relationship between the 13 colonies, the time it took to reach the Cyrannus cluster, and more.

      @kfeltenberger 6 років тому

      I suggest then that you go back and re-watch it as well as the supplemental movies, Blood & Chrome, and Caprica, because they all build on the canon. For example, the Colonies were settled for ~2000 years, not 1000, and the 13th tribe left roughly 2000 years before that, or 4000 years before the fall. There's also nothing said about the 13th tribe fighting the remaining 12 tribes and devastating Kobol. "A" for effort, "D" for content accuracy.

      And there isn't the slightest chance you could be wrong? It's a shame the BSG Wili (which is peer reviewed and not someone's opinion) isn't open to the public yet or I would post the specifics that show where you're incorrect.

    • @LoreReloaded
      @LoreReloaded  6 років тому

      BSG 'Wili'? I didn't say there wasn't a chance I could be wrong. I said my information has been gathered from the series and subsequent movies. Though its interesting to here there are peer reviewed works.. though peer reviewed works are still largely opinion based on facts - just facts that have been looked at by others. The Peer Review process is taking someone's results and then attempting to disprove them. It doesn't make it solid evidence. I'm comfortable with my review here - though again, if you can give me a source to what you say - I'll be happy to go look at it for myself.

    The fall of the colonies in the Battlestar Galactica reboot series was rather disappointing. In the end it all happened just because Gaius Baltar was tripped into allowing his side piece gain access to the source code of the new software system for the fleet Network. It's essentially the little head getting all the heads in trouble.

      you know I was thinking about when they lost the Pegasus. what if instead they lost William Adama instead. would the fleet survive without him. in my opinion though Pegasus was a better ship than Galactica without Adama they would not have survived and got to earth. Adama was a more valuable asset to save than the Battlestar Pegasus. what do you think?

    • @UncleMikeDrop
      @UncleMikeDrop 6 років тому +1

      Madman Loves Power honestly as soon as he was promoted to the rank of Admiral he should have switched his post to the Pegasus and placed another commander in charge of Galactica. If that happened then this whole incident would have been necessary Pegasus would have been the ship they had and they never would have lost him anyway. Besides as far as sustainability is concerned Pegasus have the means to construct a new Vipers. And also had a much higher crew and passenger capacity. Also use the end of the series Galactica was literally falling apart.

    • @Geminias
      @Geminias 6 років тому

      There was never a good reason plot wise that the Pegasus didn't become the flagship. It was superior in every way to the galactica.

    This entire depiction/rewrite of the series was a disappointment. "Humans lazy, cruel, bad. AI and machines calculate humans bad. Humans destroy themselves, humans fault, humans baaaad." I liked that plot line better when it was called, 'The MATRIX'. Why couldn't they just stick with the Cylons being an ancient Alien race, that was dying out? Originally, it was ALIEN AI and ALIEN machines that were attacking humanity. The WHOLE Original premise of the colonies, was to show that humanity can and DID come together to unite in peace, they evolved, they traveled the stars, humanity became better....it was the ALIEN race of the Cylons and THIER AI tech, that was used to destroy what humanity was, mainly because the Cylon Imperious leader was hating on humanity for being a successful and prosperous species, competing for galactic resources. The Cylons were a finished species, done. So, like any hater who can't have what someone else has, the standing order was to destroy all humans.

      Sorry, i know this is a older video. I grew up watching the original, and other then the spiritual mumbo jumbo of the re-imagined, i like it far better then the original. Not that i don't have fond memories of the original. I feel like it was a more accurate portrayal of how humans would be after that kind of holocaust. Humans are cruel, and self destructive. Humans are dangerous when backed into a corner. Humans hate on different ethnic groups, or people with other beliefs.
      I thought it was gritty in all the right ways. Plus the battles are some of the best in any sci fi.
